  2. I think I did get what you were saying... But, it really wouldn't matter much in the long run. Sure, a team could sneak up on another by doing what most aren't doing, but teams usually adjust and find ways to stop that. Just look at the run and shoot as an example of that. Successful at first, but then figured out. Btu the idea that if you're a great running team and the D you're facing is better at the pass, you obviously should be at an advantage...no matter what. I'm old school as well, I love the run game too! But, the champs of the modern day NFL all can pass and pass well. 130/game on the ground may or may not get us into the playoffs... But, I don't think that alone would be a factor. You could break a 99 yard run, and then amass 40 the rest of the game...and still lose. But, I tend to agree...a good outing running usually equals a win. But, if all you can do is run, teams usually can figure out how to contain it. Balance usually bodes well in all area of life and sport... I agree. Run early, run often.

I believe it out of default. Osmosis... If the majority of our guys are doing the right thing, some of that will rub off. Not all, but some. I actually like his instinct-full-ness (don't think that's a real word!). We have paid the price for it...but I think there will be times that it will pay off. Hopefully, the good will eventually outweight the bad. Sometimes a guyt needs a different environment as a wake up call. Right now, you could easily say he's just new. But, you could also say, he's just up to his old ways. I think both are correct. I'd like to say there's some hope he can become a productive part of the D...especially with a very good saftey at his side. We saw it with the ATL game with Chris Harris next to him. Without that vertan presence, he's fallen into bad ways...

Agreed. And I think most of us knew this would be an issue. I agree that I think he'd be a better SS... But I do think that the longer he plays with the team, the less he'll freewheel and understand better where to be. It won't be Mike Brown, but it's better than Wright et al...

  7. Old school Public Enemy jam, "Don't Believe the Hype".... I'm not sure a soul here is not taking them seriously. But it's a good thing that the pressure is square on them nationally to look "great" against us. Vegas has them as 6.5 pt. favorites. We are supposed to lose. But, we do have their number... And we have Peppers, the China Doll breaker... Break some Stafford, Julius, break some...

    No, but it will help
  9. I think what you're saying is a bit of a reach. I'd argue otherwise. in a pass-happyleague, if you cannot pass, like us, then you are at a disadvantage. Sure, you can match -up favorably against some teams with your running game. But if you cannot pass and pass well, you really cannot win the big game in the NFL. Odss are Detroit will be prepared ofr our running game. Suh is a beast and Schwartz is a great planner. They will not be "fooled" regardless what we throw out. We simply need to execute both passing and running. Your comments on the red zone have been happeneing since Smith's arrival. The whole cover 2 idea is bend, don't break. It give up many yards, hoping that a mistake is made. and by the time a team is in the red zone on us, the field is shortened, and we have less zone to cover, making it a bit easier to defend. At least in theory. The idea that we do better on third in short, while intruiging, is really horrible. It really show how bad our 3rd down defense is. And it's been that way for too many years. Sure, our 2 losses came agasint great teams. But, weren't we just a game shy last season? Have we taken that far of a step back that we can take solace that we were beaten by 2 better teams. There's not much we can do...but the impetus should be on JA why he let us get worse while too many other teams insisted on improving?

I tend to agree. Meriweather needs little more time in the scheme to get his comfort level up. It's not helping that his counterparts have been garbage other than the one game Harris was in... We need Harris bad.

  12. Agreed. Since Briggs, we haven't found a single LB worth a damn in the draft... So unusual for JA...
  13. Wouldn't you say based on all that, that the expectation would be the same? Or would you say, it's always happened, so aren't they due for it not happening once? Forte is of course going to ask for market value, because he knows the first offere from the team will be a lowball one. I just don't like JA saying that there will be no negotiations. There should be. (FYI - Brigg's situation is completely different...) If we tag him, does he not have to report until week 10? I'm honestly not sure how the tag works after this last labor deal... I see it at 70/30. I think 70% he'll continue to be a Bear. The 30 will grow depending on how the season plays out...
  14. Good to know on the other clown! That's for the info... I'd take these 2 guys all year if we could!
  15. I don't think anyone's jumping on Cutler per se...but I think the era of just blaming everything on O but him should be over. He needs to take responsibility for his poor play and play better. I have a fear his time here will have been completely squandered by JA in the end. Kind of like buying a Porsche, but neglecting to put oil and gas in it...
  16. 3. CAR did play well...but it doesn't justify the exceptionally poor play of our D. It was atrocious. 5. Agreed... 6. Yeah, Buck the the curse! F&$k Buck! 7. It's really disheartening... I want to really like Cutler. It's just becoming increasingly difficult. He's simply not playing well. I expected far better so far... ************************* 3. The D. Garbage today. Besides the great tip drill by Moore, the D played poorly. There was little pressure, when there was, Newton slipped away or got off a great pass. Only to deja vu all over again and see Steve Smith eat chunks of field like no tomorrow. Again. Marinelli's guys did not looks up to the game in all honesty. Mistakes abounded. Kudos to Newton. That kid can play football. Not to try and justify any of it but as the commentators remarked, Carolina does have a pretty decent line. They were ready to block the front four of Chicago and prepare for any blitzes. Could Rivera's knowledge of the Defensive scheme helped??? Perhaps. And there is no denying it, Newton is probably the first #1 QB that is legit. Or so it would seem. He effectively evaded the rush with little effort. That paired with his size and youth helps tremendously. 5. Detroit worries the hell out of me. I thought Dallas was sending them packing...damn. Megatron is simply amazing. We will have our hands more than full. Especially if our D plays like it did today. Speaking of 'legit'. Detroit is the real deal. It had to be apparent with the way they were coming on recently that this was bound to happen. I didn't think this quick but here they are. And like another poster put up earlier, whodda thunk that our Bears had to worry themselves with being down 2-3 games to Detroit? My how times have changed. 6. I prefer Billick and whoever clown he was with over Aikman and Buck. Buck is just the worst. Couldn't agree more. I would bet that anytime the Bears play and Buck and Troy commentate, they lose a larger percentage of the time. I was just thinking that last week when I heard who would be calling the game. I again agree that Billick really analyzes the game well and the "clown" does good in his bit. 7. Cutler played horribly. Too many overthrows. He is getting a pass. I'm tiring of his shoddy play and mechanics. He needs to step it up. Agagain I agree. My man crush is slowly starting to fade. He is becoming too much Grossman for my liking.
  17. The excessive timeouts are a sign that the team is unprepared. That goes on the coaches.
  18. 1. Forte! Fortisimo! What a game! ...need I say, pay the man. 2. Hester...YOU ARE RIDICULOUS! Almost 2 runbacks! Kudos for Mr. Hester sending his ball to canton and taking the all time record! What a joy it has been to watch you! 3. The D. Garbage today. Besides the great tip drill by Moore, the D played poorly. My friend said it perfectly, "It's great we ran so much, but damn if I don't feel like he's going to return to his passing ways on a big game. And Smith will refuse to do anything about it during the game." Our only hope is some odd light went off in both coaches' craniums. 5. Detroit worries the hell out of me. 19. We got the win. We also did it by running down their throats and by great ST play. The rest is worrisome... Most teams will not be as forgiving as CAR
