Lovie Smith receives 2 year extension through 2013.

Cowher's got one thing neither Smith nor Fisher have. A ring. That's why people want Cowher. That, and he almost always had his teams deep into the playoffs. Last year was gret, but I still have memory of the few before. We have him, and again like last year, I hope he grows as a coach. THe move overall makes sense from how the management works. He and Angelo are now connected at the hip. So, if a purge happens, it'll be the whole kitten kaboodle. -

No surprise. We all knew it was coming. It's interesting that PFT spun it with the potential of letting him go... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/...h-through-2013/ I still stand by my thought that it wasn't needed right now. But at least this extention isn't ridiculously long if he tanks. -
Hell, I want him gone regardless!

Kinsd of a sad state that over the past few years, we've been going more nuts than not!

So true. I really think this is the first time in a long while a vast majority of us agree on the needs. And a serious overwhelming majority agree on the 1st priority, OL. From there, we have some differing opinions on ranking DL, S and WR. If only the brain trust would consult us... I'll pine for that as I hope I win the Lotto...
-
Pompei need to stop letting the Bears pull his puppet strings... He's so pro bears these days that I cannot trust a word he writes anymore sadly... OL is such a glaring need that Stevie Wonder can see it. However, as many have mentioned, our WR crew aren't all that. Pompei seems to be happy as a pig in slop with all the potential. I, and many others, are not. As you mention, our division rivals have better crews- taking Hester out as a return man. It's not like our guys are the paragons of health. Devin, Johnny and Edgar have all missed some time due to injury. Otherwise, we'd never have been teased with Aromashodu... I do a gree that the line is a priority on O, and then next so on D. But WR is also a priority...and should be so as a free agent only. We need it now.

It's on hold!

I'm just spending the McCaskey's money here...and would imagine there could be enough to go around after the CBA dust settles. But my first priority is OL, then WR, then secondary... I just wonder if a guy like Otogwe would take a bit of smaller pay to land on a very good D, coached by a guy players seem to love, on a team that should be able to see the playoffs next year...
-
I'm just not a big fan of Manning. I'd rather let him go and get Otogwe for the next 2 years to get a true veteran safety in the mix.

For the right price...and if we have some depth, why not? Our window to make a strong move is now...

Farewell Dave! You will be missed.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/...is-last-season/ PFT GearBroncos tried to trade Ryan Harris last season Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on February 18, 2011, 9:04 AM EST Earlier in his four-year career, Denver’s Ryan Harris looked like a franchise cornerstone and one of the best right tackles in football. After a slew of injuries and inconsistent play, the Broncos were ready to dump him last year. Josina Anderson of FootballProsLive.com reports that the team tried to trade Harris last season. The Bears reportedly showed the most interest, with the Raiders, Bills, Redskins, and Texans also in the mix. Harris wound up starting the last eight games of the year, but an injured ankle before the trading deadline prevented a trade. By all indications, the Broncos are ready to move on from Harris, who is set to be an unrestricted free agent. He’s only 25 years old and has 34 starts over the last three years, so he’ll make an high upside pickup for some team.

I, like many here, think we need a #1 WR, and Rice has the potential to fit that bill. No doubt, he could be a bust. But there are numerous elements to his game that I've mentioned previously that point more upward than downward. He is now far more remoed from his injury...as was Forte, so the hope is that he will reutrn to form. And, yes, I'm certain we all still want to address OL as a larger priority. But, this potential singning can be along with that.

It's always a possibility. But he has shown that he can work with a gunslinger, that he fights for balls (as funny as that sounds), that he appears to run good routes... Those are traits that pretty much none of our WR's possess...

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/...ion-with-bears/ Mike Tice gets contract extension with Bears Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on February 16, 2011, 6:26 PM EST Bears offensive line coach Mike Tice didn’t get a chance to be the Titans offensive coordinator, but he did get a little extra money in his pocket from the Bears. Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that Tice got a one-year extension through 2012 on Wednesday. (He presumably got a pay bump on the final year too.) In exchange, the man formerly known as Meathead essentially can’t complain about not getting his shot for a promotion. Tice wasn’t the only Bears assistant to get an extension. Running backs coach Tim Spencer, defensive backs coach Jon Hoke, and linebackers coach Bob Babich all were extended through 2012.

Agreed. I'd like a bonafide thick FB to do that chore...
-
Works for me... I'd probalby hold on the CB in round 3, but it's not out of line, espeically with the OL pick up the next round. Also, given the signing of Joseph...

Man that's a disheartening list... JA has far too many misses, plain and simple.
