Bucs decide to "move on" from Antonio Bryant Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on February 25, 2010 4:17 PM ET The Bucs have decided they don't want to sign Antonio Bryant for the third time in as many years. Speaking Thursday at the NFL Scouting Combine, Bucs coach Raheem Morris said the team has decided to "move on" from Bryant and go in a "young direction." The news isn't a shock, but we are surprised that his agent only found out from a reporter, according to Stephen Holder of the St. Petersburg Times. The two sides supposedly never even got into contract demands. We think Bryant has the best mix of talent and age of any receiver on the market. Tampa, meanwhile, boasts a wide receiver depth chart headed by Michael Clayton, Maurice Stovall and Sammie Stroughter. (Good luck with that, Josh Freeman.) Maybe Dez Bryant to the Bucs with the third overall pick isn't so crazy.

True enough! Good points... But, I'll only believe Martz's and Tice's influence on the invincible shield of Smith's ways when I see it. Until then, I will continue to believe that Zombie ain't relinquishing one atomic particle of power.
-
And you really feel there will be a true open competition given the history of this current regime? A greater insanity are the minds of JA and Zombie Smith... Lords known what cobwebs, loose change, and dust bunnies are bouncing around in there... I personally would like to see Omiyale get a shot at RT...his more natural spot. But, virtually everything I (and most posters) would like to see with this current regime has about a zero chance of happening...
-
Why would he? He already felt mistreated by us...and honestly, right now, he's better than Forte. He should start somewhere.
-
I thought so! Thanks for posting that...
-
You know the definition of insanity, right?
-
Yeah, but Smith N' Rod will coach him up!
-
Agreed. As a starter he's a liability. But in nickel & dime...he' an assett. Plus, with hester fragility, it's nice to have another solid guy returning. I want Knox out of there. he should focus on being a WR...

Good points.... However, just watching Peanut play over the years, I get a vibe that he hawks and plays "like a S". I recall a handfull of great coverages he had, but it's not like I'm watching Champ Bailey put on a clinic. I think he has a natrual lean towards the position just by how he generally plays. Just a vibe, nothing more. I fear our piss poor staff won't get him ready though (no disrespect to piss...it's a good antidote for stingray and jellyfish stings). My hope is Dunta and him play CB this year, and then when real coaches arrive, they shift peanut then.

I could not agree more...

Don't forget, we have this great DL coach!

Bears hire Tim Ruskell Posted by Michael David Smith on February 23, 2010 7:49 PM ET We noted last week that the Bears were poised to hire former Seahawks General Manager Tim Ruskell, and now the deal is reportedly done. Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that Ruskell has agreed to become the Bears' director of player personnel, and the deal is expected to be announced in the next 48 hours. Ruskell and Bears G.M. Jerry Angelo are friends who previously worked together with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Although he apparently won't have the same title, Ruskell is filling a void left when the Bears fired senior director of pro personnel Bobby DePaul. Ruskell resigned in December after five years with the Seahawks.

I read on PFT where he will be released but isn't yet. The impression I got was that they want him to try to line up a suitor as a thanks for his services over the years.

I wish I felt that way. I just don't. I have virtually zero faith that ownership has any clue whatsoever. BEAR DOWN anagram for BAD OWNER -

I just fear this sets the table for another excuse for another bad season. "Well, we couldn't get the FA's we wanted, but did OK despite that and the quality of the teams we played. Smith did a another good job taking candid photos of the ownership family in compromising positions, so we'll see his and JA's contracts out...and in fact are thinking about re-upping them." -

Agreed. (But the renouncing part...) This team is in Purgatory until further notice. -

Seems like Stetz doesn't "wow" in practice, but does well in games. For some reason, Smith appears to love practice guys...

Hmmm...FB. I'm intruiged.

Another guy that comes to mind is Otis Anderson...but I'm still not interested.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/...of-free-agents/ Bears sign a pair of free agents Posted by Mike Florio on February 22, 2010 6:35 PM ET Though the period for signing men whose contracts expired at the end of the 2009 season doesn't begin until March 5, players who have been released may be signed now. And so the Bears have announced the acquisition of tight end Richard Angulo and receiver Eric Peterman to one-year contracts. Angulo was out of football in 2009 after a five-year career that included stops in St. Louis, Minnesota, Chicago, and Jacksonville. On two prior occasions, Angulo spent time with new Bears offensive line coach Mike Tice. In 2008, Angulo appeared in 15 games with the only six starts of his career. Peterman spent the 2009 preseason on the Bears' roster, and the final week of the 2009 regular season on the Chicago practice squad.

Here's what the Rams did...I'm not sure costs didn't increase for them as well. But they realize they need PR... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/ Permalink 0 Comments Back to Top Rams cut ticket prices for most seats Posted by Mike Florio on February 22, 2010 5:26 PM ET The St. Louis Rams, after winning six games in three seasons, have decided to drop the price for most of the tickets at their home stadium, the Edward Jones Dome. "We are pleased to announce that we are reducing season ticket prices for the majority of our fans as part of our ongoing pledge to deliver more value to our loyal season ticket holders," Rams exec Kevin Demoff said. "This marks the third consecutive year that we are not raising prices as we strive to reinforce our commitment to St. Louis, improve our fan experience, and reward our best customers -- our season ticket holders -- for their continued support." Roughly two third of the seats will see their prices reduced, with savings ranging from $30 to $190 per season ticket. Also, a $250 season ticket for more than 6,300 seats in the upper deck will be available. Making the move even more prudent is the team's not-so-memorable home schedule for 2010, which includes games against the 49ers, Cardinals, Seahawks, Falcons, Panthers, Redskins, Chiefs, and Chargers.
