  1. I've always thought Payton was also a vocal leader... I figured Barry Sanders to be more of lead solely by example. Payton did both to my understanding.
  2. Not sure how you are exactly jumping to that conclusion... The logical takeaway is that you continue to work on fundamentals with the hope that it finally sinks in at some point. But, you become open to utilizing the things he does well...like be on the move. And I disagree about lemonade. It's horrible until you put whiskey in it...
  3. Agreed... Ditka will not go up in the pantheon of great coaches. But, he won. And did it in such a way that he will never be forgotten. He is almost more of an icon. Tack in his HoF career as a TE, a TV personality...it's all part of the whole thing. I always like Levy. Reeves...I had my issues with.
  4. What if his fundamentals can't be fixed? We're stuck with him for at least 2 more years. Best to make lemons out of lemonade...
  5. Agreed. However, given that the last 3 HC's were mild mannered resulting in no championships, it's easy to understand or want something different. And given the only one that won it, was a hot head...puts more emphasis on possibly going that route again. Of course, logic dictates that it doesn't matter. For every firey champ coach, there's a Landry... The key, as you say, is just get one that is good and wins. Many people here embraced every single last one with open arms...only until it looked like they wouldn't deliver, did we sour on them. Trestman is no exception...
  6. That's his MO. Keep calm. If we beat GB or at least don't embarrass ourselves, then it could be considered that it worked. If not, then those tactics will be heavily questioned.
  7. Agreed. I guess better late than never. But it just is more fuel to the fire that Trestman is in over his head...
  8. I f-ing hate GB. I would want nothing more than to see us beat the tar out of them and put a big hurt on Charles Nelson Rodgers. However, logic dictates that we will get our asses handed to us... It's called masochism. Knowing is half the battle... I expect my whiskey bottles will be lessened significantly Sunday night...
  9. Interesting...I'd have guessed our 3rd down % to be lower. I wonder the following as thoughts on your stats... 1. Pics in the middle/right = Is Cutler simply too comfortable going that way? Where going left...he's more cautious? 2. Poor 2 min drill rating = I've always had issue here. It seems like the Bears don't know how to run the 2 minute drill. There seems to be little energy. Maybe it's appearances only...but when I see Brady or Manning or even Tannehill do it..they look in charge and the team is hustling. Are we simply missing a Kreutz here? I think that's one of the reasons Jay is struggling here. Or he's simply forcing it... 3. 1st down pics = Agreed that it seems odd... But, again I wonder if it's over-confidence as with the right side of the field issue? 4. 3rd and less than 3 conversions = Over-confident? Poor play-callling? Maybe the takeaway is simply run on 1st and 2nd and pass on 3rd! Thanks for finding that info Adam.
  10. Sadly, which is probably how it'll play out!
  11. You must have a good kool-aid supplier!
  12. Sorry, someone spat in my 1/2 full mug!
  13. Just looking at the next 8 games...now 3-5 @GB - loss, they have our number 0-1 MIN - win, we should be able to beat Minny at home in Chicago 1-1 TB - win, we should be able to beat TB in Chicago 2-1 @DET - loss, DET on the road especially will be tough 2-2 DAL - loss, Dallas has proven to be a strong team and will run all over us 2-3 NO - loss, NO will probably have their act together. Even though they struggle on the road...we struggle at home. 2-4 DET - loss, I'd love to say we win this and split, but I think DET is a better team than us. At least right now. 2-5 @MIN - win. I think we can have Minny's number. However, we could lose this one and win against DET in Chicago. So the end result is still 3-6 We close out the 2nd half of the season 3-5, just like the first half. Overall record 6-10. We should have a top ten pick.
  14. Thanks for sharing. I too am coming up with that conclusion. Circumstances could change with the 2nd half of the season. But as it stands, and assuming more of the same. It's an easy conclusion to come up with.
  15. With both McCoy and Arians...are we simply looking at guys that got lucky with the talent around them? Luck...Manning? Who knows... They both are doing better with QB's that should be worse than Cutler in theory.
  16. Wow... I really wanted Arians. Trusted management the'd make the right decision. Damn, suckered again.
  17. Agreed on the youth movement. There's no reason not to but the young guys in and give them a test. The problem is that their teacher sucks... Tucker is awful.
  18. C-Dog, it appears your assessment I think mirrors many of the poster here. Maybe to lesser or greater extents... I truly believed that the offensive firepower would have been what kept us in games. For numerous reasons, it's not. We are probably stuck with Cutler. More than likely, we're probably stuck with Trestman one more year. Odds are DiCamilis and Tucker will be gone. I would imagine, McCaskey will give both Trestman and Emery one more year. Then we'd only have one real year left on Cutler's deal...and could possibly take the hit or make the trade if next year is as abysmal (or similar enough) at this one's been to date. I'm just seeing too many issues with Trestman form his mistakes knowing the rules, bad play calling, letting his players run the asylum, etc... It's possible he rights the ship...but there's just no evidence to make me think it'll happen. Could a coaching change happen in full? Yes. If they continue to look this bad. Yes. But they'll probably finish out just bad enough and good enough to make management think Trestman gets one more year. I'm not really depressed about this season. I'm in fear of being depressed that we could be like this for the next 5 years. I really only love Sundays because the Bears play. I love football, but I'm only passionate about the Bears. If there's nothing to watch for, then that makes Sundays less important and fun. Even in the thin years, there were guys to watch and follow. We have some. Forte, Jeffery, Bennett, Young...potentially Fuller. Those guys are why I'll keep watching. To just see some good plays and see guys play with heart. My expectations are that we'll lose every game. But I'd like to see those guys contribute to a win here and there and maybe spoil a parade or 2. Bears losses never impact me emotionally for more than that day if only for the next hour afterwards. We are fans. We watch and follow really no matter what. We get happy, sad, angry, aloof, etc. All the emotions that come with following sports. Youa re either into your team or not. When we do bad, it sucks and it pains us. It gives us cause for concern. And between our families, friends and this board...we're able to vent with fellow fans. All is not well. But, we could be the Lions...
  19. Matters not, traded to Rams for a 4th and 6th
