Sarcasm; corner store might have some for you. Bennett was huge today, that TD catch isn't made by a Bear's TE from the last 10 years (including Greg Olson)

Nope not bitching to bitch, it was not a positive 1st half in my opinion

You bet, glad Cutler got him out of the mix and avoided a offsetting penalty

Bears get a big win for Trestman
Despite my sniping, there were some good things coming out of this game 1) 4 new offensive lineman playing together for the first time for keeps, I thought they performed well, should only get better. I really like the two rookies. 2) Defense only allowed about 100 yards in the second half, 80 of it on the first drive; tightened up, but the front four really was not consistent 3) Trestman seemed calm, cool, and collected. 4) The ball started to get spread around in the second half. 5) Cutler bounced back from the stupid pick, with some help from the defense, the team did not pay the price. I liked that he shoved Mills back out of the scrum with Ray M. 6) The Bengals may be a good team but not very disciplined. Blowing time outs because players can't get off the field. I thought they were a veteran team. Overall, pleased but wanting for more. I am hoping the offense can use this as a springboard. The defense got one under the belt without Urlacher, I hope for improvement there.

Is it any better than last year? 38% of Cutler's pass attempts to Marshall. Only thing missing is he did not force one to Brandon that resulted in a INT. I am far from disappointed what with one half of football, but I hope the second half produces differently for the offense. Cincy's defense is good, so credit to them but, wow underwhelming 1st half offense.

Where Have Our Old Posters Gone?
As a poster/lurker who has been around the board for a number of years (different user names (KingstonBob), because I can't remember passwords, etc.) I still enjoy the board. There are still good posters here, but going back to the days of Pixote and Da WebMaster, there are posters I miss, guys like Noots and such, they always brought the goods. But as I said, we've got some great guys who can stir the pot and get people thinking. As for the times any and all get called immature, you can always walk away from a thread; rebuttal upon rebuttal, while fun, can only continue the commentary. I am with Mad on this, life is too short, this all should be fun. At the root, we are all Bears fans, through thick and thin, high and low, the Monsters of the Midway will always be our guys. Keep on rocking with your posts; they often bring a smile to the face on a crappy day!

A QUICK OBSERVATION AND THOUGHT
Guys, I generally don't post but I thought I would chime in on this one... Prior to the season, at the big press conference, the one where many of us were hoping Lovie was going to get his walking papers, Ted Phillips decided to stay the course and allow the staff to coach another season. It seemed clear to me that the message was sent that things had to get better in order to keep jobs. So, the Bears decided to drop the big one and sign Peppers, a move I think that was outside their usual M.O. New coaches were added and here we are. But I say shame on the Bears, three mediocre seasons led to your job being on the line, so that is the time they get serious and decide to make a major move (Peppers)? Again it did not happen until their jobs were at risk. It seems to me Lovie and company got lazy after the Colts Superbowl and rested on their laurels. Now threatened, they decide to make moves. Shame! Why consider an extension now; if three years of crap results was not enough to fire a coach, why should one season where good fortune shined on your backside be enough to get an extension? Just my two cents.

D-Coordinator
I know I won't be walking away from the Bears this next year, but here is the rub for me right now. Ted Phillips gets up there at the press conference and says that the move for two new coordinators is a significant move; that the cleaning of the house was a major move and then we get.......Rod Marinelli. I'll even applaud the Martz hire over this move. "Everyone" wants to come coach for this team, but the best we get is a guy who was already here, it's no different than promoting Bob Babich. Moving up your "best move of last season" from a performance that was non descript to the coordinator's position is not a significant move. All the Bears did with this move is cement the idea that Lovie, save a miracle, is one and done at this point. This in itself should make me happy but I just don't like the Halas Hall attitude about the significance of these moves, they are not, they are settling moves. I'm just tired of the insults that keep coming out of Lake Forest.

D-Coordinator
Yes, it's just that when reality sets in...........it blows.

D-Coordinator
Believe me, nastier words are running through my head. Especially when I read that in the press release announcing this move, Lovie stated that he felt good about where this defensive staff was at the end of the season. This guy and this organization are a joke and they are seriously delusional. The more Lovie opens his mouth and spouts his condescending and smug comments, the more I want to smash his mug right down his throat. The team sucked last year and this clown thinks he is coming off a playoff season where a few tweaks will make the difference. I can get it that coaches should be confident, but this guy borders on arrogant to a fault. The 2011 season cannot come soon enough!

D-Coordinator
WSCR is reporting that Rod Marinelli is the new defensive coordinator. Last year's most valuable free agent acquisition will join this year's most valuable free agent acquisition as a coordinator for the team. To quote my idol, Charlie Brown, "Good Grief".

Martz interviewing today
What is interesting in all of this discussion and all of the media coverage is that there has been no new word on a D-Coordinator. This might scare me more than the choice of OC. I thought I read somewhere that Marinelli might be open to the role and the guess there was that he would be the fall back position. If this comes to fruitition, is that any different that the previous promotion of Bob Babich. I know Marinelli was a head coach, but really is it any different? As for offense, if Martz is the man, given his disdain for the running game, I'd like to be the fly in the locker room when Tice blows up at him over the running game, or lack thereof. I am just worried that this line won't be stong enough to protect Cutler in Martz's scheme, even with their improvement at the end of the year.
