  1. Holy Shit - that's mucho funny, thanks for making me spit out my water and make it look like I pissed my pants. I need to stay behind my desk now until they dry!!
  2. No, you are just moved to the "watched" list I won't be suprised by a loss, but I just don't see this Steeler team being able to do it. Their offensive line if suffering, this should be a game where our D-Line makes some headway. Their defense will be the strawbreaker, if LeBeau and his 3-4 mixes it up, they might be able to keep the Steelers in the game. It will be interesting to see how Long & Mills respond to that front on the road. I just don't see their offense producing enough to win the game.
  3. C'mon Grizz you know you want to !! Seriously, you are right, the season needs time to reveal itself and the trends that will develop. But early returns do have some promise.

I had heard on the radio that Richardson (rumors of course) hated the snow and did not like Weeden whatsoever. If he really is a malcontent, again rumors, then maybe its for the best to make of it what you can. I feel for the Brown's fans for sure, as a Cub fan, now having to buy into the Epstein theory of tanking it for a few seasons while you grow the system, I know Cleveland's pain. While excellent points have been made about the abundance of fine QB's coming out, the question becomes, can Lombardi pull off a sufficient haul to satisfy the fan base? Is he the right guy?
  5. Okay for fun, I agree with a speed receiver, but even though he is not a burner at some point I'd like to see Wilson Agree with the CB's; I think we cannot depend on what Tillman will be able to offer going forward, at some point his skill set is going to decline, better to be prepared I'd like another DE, can't have enough A center certainly needs to be on the short list The nice thing is that Emery has started to shore up areas such as the O-line and linebacker so that they can narrow the focus going forward. I mean this last off season, you needed mass O-Line additions, linebacker additions, it was almost more about quantities.

You are probably right, there isn't going to be a better fit coming out of the current NFL QB's; Josh Freeman-no thanks. I think Trestman will be able to mature Cutler. I read where Cavanaugh has been a big help on the sidelines, Cutler gets a chance to gripe and then Cavanaugh immediately gets him to focus and review the photos of the last drive. That's good stuff and a sign Cutler, for now, is buying into the system and process. Maybe this is a staff he truly respects.

Ditka can pass along the draw he used to run with Pinky Gentry on 3 and 10 or longer!!!!!
  8. What is the intent of the game thread? I am guilty of "heat of the moment" posts. For me, either I post here or the TV suffers; posting is cheaper :) If the purpose of the game thread is to express the moment, then it is working as intended. I also would forgive any exchange in the thread as frustration in the now. I have noticed that topics after the game in the main forum generally take a global perspective, which makes sense since there is the separation in time between game time expectations and post game reflection.
  9. If I might, I would also add that the 80% turnover and the performance thus far speaks to some strong coaching and scheme implementation/adjustments.
  10. I can't seem to import a picture, but the more I watch Kyle Long, the more I'd swear he is channeling a old-time Raider from the opposite side of the line... TOOZ!!!! I wanted to bring in a picture for a side by side, but no luck, but man the crazy is there.
  11. I will revisit my guess weeks from now and ridicule myself but, I could see them taking 10 of these games, if and its a big if, the D-line gets it together; I can't believe Peppers would fall off this fast and wherever Melton is, he needs to arrive. But back to the schedule, the losses would be: Lions and Packers at their field; and losses to the Saints and Eagles. The Redskins game is the only one I am really one the fence on; if RGIII is healthly and the rust has really fallen off, we could be in trouble, but their defense doesn't scare me. The Lions ought to be a split at worst; and I would love to see a functional offense in the last game of season against the Cheese puds. The Browns & Cowboys, well not much needs to be said. The Ravens are beatable and the Rams could be a track meet. The Giants have no running game and their O-Line is not strong. I'm drinking from Mad Lith's kool-aid today!

I understand about Cutler; I really want to believe in him, I do get pissed when he gets fileted in the Chicago radio media. But deep inside, when he gets chances like the last drive today, I think he is going to fail. As a fan I don't like that, but that's where I am at. I'd like to be converted. At the end of the day, he has the mechanics, he has the moxie you want. I think through this offseason and through 2 games the impact of Trestman and his crew is noticeable. By season end we will find out if the conversion of Cutler is complete.

Despite my own in game commentary, I am happy the beloved are 2-0, beats the alternative. Bennett is the best TE since Greg Latta (JK), I mean Ditka. Two games in and I can say that, the athleticism and display of hands & body control- Olson pales in comparison. The swing passes out of the backfield to Forte are killer. Cutler is a roller coaster ride. I know the defense is adjusting to the changes, and they have played well but the front four needs to kick it up or the team will pay for it sooner or later. I am hoping that DJ Williams gets better acclimated, I'd like the defense to adjust quicker to the loss of Urlacher. I believe someone said it earlier but I don't think last year's Bear offense pulls out these two games; that is not just attributable to the new players. OK Master of the Obvious is done. I'd sure like to see a 3-0 start.
  14. I hope so, for our season's sake and his next contract's sake. I'm waiting for the Melton of last season to resurface.
  15. He doesn't have one; and I was serious about soliciting your opinion on Melton; part of me is very disappointed in his play and a part of me wants to give him the benefit of the doubt.
  16. I mentioned it earlier but soliciting an opinion here, how long would you give Melton slack because of the concussion? Just curious as I am not happy with him, but I wonder about the concussion & game shape, etc.
  17. You're welcome. You are right we all want them to win. I'd really like to see this staff succeed. I think Emery went on the limb by picking a offensive minded head coach, breaking the mold for the last 20 years. I don't believe defense is going away, but I do think that the rules are becoming more and more favorable for offenses. Thus my desire for a staff that can deliver on a dynamic offense that can win in the current NFL. But up or down, Go Bears!
  18. I think the last line of your post is the most important, will Cutler be able to be counted on in a consistent fashion? In a big game, against a tougher team, one that has a good quarterback? Excellent comment AZ
  19. Best part of this game: We got a legitimate TE Minnesota is 0-2
  20. As much as Cutler has irritated me this game, our defensive ends have to show up one of these games. This team let Minnesota stay in the game and it may well cost them now. I can't say I have much confidence in Cutler pushing here for the TD
  21. One and a half games. any sign yet of Peppers or Melton? I 'll give Melton some slack for the concussion, but neither is offering much.
  22. Should have been a much better first half result wise. I did not expect the sloppy play and undisciplined play.. how do we get too many men on the field calls? We should have 35 points by now. The defense is limiting AP, they only have a 150 yards and half the 1st downs. We need another better second half for the second week in a row. Its early in the season, but the results are predictably mixed.
