  1. Fox blows; can't get the video back, and so they give us just audio, then figure that's too generous so we get the halftime studio with a minute left and the Bears with the ball WTF
  2. Thank you Tim Jennings and Christian Ponder!!!
  3. He leapt high in the back of the end zone, came down with his back across a cameraman's foot, he walked off looking okay, maybe wind knocked out?
  4. You got a lot of great advice; my two cents: I'd pick Lou Malnati's for the deep dish; if you go make sure you push them for the sausage patty to cover the whole pie, if they push back, order extra sausage to guarantee it. Mr. Beef's on Orleans, definitely well north of the stadium, but the absolute best beef sandwich in town. Dipped (dripping wet from the juice & sweet peppers)= heaven. Note cash only I second Mad Lith, do not go to Billy Goat at Navy Pier - tourist hole You cannot go wrong with many of the suggestions, just have a good time and get a food coma going!!
  5. I am thinking along the lines of Grizzly; Bears 31-14. I think AP will have a good game but Cutler will hit for a couple of mid game TD's and the Vikings will be playing catch-up and will have to move away from the ground game.
  6. It will have to come out of his Campbell Chunky Soup allowance!
  7. Thanks AG, I appreciate the link. Tony Dungy was someone I also liked as his demeanor led to a sense of confidence in the team.
  8. I apologize in advance if this topic has been thoroughly dissected, but has anyone read Trestman's book? Les Carpenter's Yahoo article has me wanting to get some more insight into our new chief.

    Gang Tackle

IT takes a village to tackle AP! I like the term population tackle, sounds so Trestman like!
  10. I heard a Mike Singletary interview where he was asked about Urlacher's departure and subsequent commentary. To paraphrase, his feelings are that anyone who plays in the NFL for more than 3-4 years is blessed; they really made it; but at that point they need to start looking at their career with the organization's perspective. I think this wisdom comes from the separation of time; Brian needs to let it settle for awhile.
  11. I absolutely second your comment about such an article coming out of Yahoo. You could have taken the byline away and I could have made 10 guesses before I would pick Yahoo. My recollection of Trestman was from his days as the "hot" assistant with the 49er's. If I recall correctly there was some talk back then of him being tossed around as a potential head coach. That all died out as did my attempt to follow his career. This article does a great job of detailing the journey this man took to really make that introspective analysis to remake himself as a human being, forget the football coach. His difficulties obviously would have transcended his career choices. Great, great tale of someone who really got it and came out the other side all the much better. I can't help but root for him.
  12. I hear what you are saying and I would not want to try to change your point of view, but really what was the end game really going to be. If the new management really wanted him gone, I am guessing it was not about Brian's personality, his demeanor, or his leadership. I think they probably viewed him as someone who just did not have it anymore. Whether we agree with that analysis, really does not matter; they did not see his game as positive coming into a new season. If he is at the end of the road in the Bear's eyes, how do you turn out to pasture someone who has been the face of the franchise for a decade, AND have it end well because the player has an obvious different view of his own skill set? No one is going to win that battle. It's done and Brian does not earn any extra points by revisiting the subject. Besides if he is being bald faced honest about his recollection of the events, we will probably never get an equally honest presentation from the Bears.... and as always with two stories, the truth is somewhere in between.
  13. I agree, they don't generally hold themselves above the rest of us. They entertain the meathead call without demeaning anyone. I guess Bernstain's humanities degree from Duke elevates him to supreme ruler and head ego ass bag. I give Boers & Stain about 30 seconds each day and roll up the dial to 1000.
  14. Let me start by saying Brian was one of my favorite Bears... I don't think there are many players who go out on their own terms. That is okay because I think it is in the professional athlete's DNA to rate themselves as the best, to continually feel they are the man; they need to be able to build self confidence in order to perform at that level. All that being said, this video shows Brian as a whiner and someone who is willing to bite the hand that feeds them. When Brian held his breath, pouted and made public his desire to renegotiate his existing contract a few years ago should Jerry Angelo have held a Snicker's sponsored video interview popping off about Brian's lack of loyalty and professionalism? At the end of the day Brian joins the list of former Bears that exit with a bad taste in their mouth. He, like many of them, will return to the fold some day, once he realizes the realities of what went down in his situation. I think the Bears do a good job of helping those who have played for them; Brian may need it some day and when that day comes, they will extend their hand to him as well.
  15. The absolute worst for me is the Boers & Bernstein show. Bernstein absolutely abhors the general public; to the point a caller really doesn't stand a chance to communicate their topic. Boers just giggles his creepy old man laugh; I wish he would just retire. You are also right about conversations, painting with a broad brush here, but people are so polarized these days. A conversation doesn't mean we have to convert the other person, we are just discussing the topic while remaining respectful of other's opinions.
  16. He must be related to most of the sport's radio hosts in Chicago. Preparation is not just for their asses.
  17. I'm sorry, I couldn't help it... it just kind of teed itself up
  18. Blocking is like a box of chocolates, if you wait too long all you get is a puddle of goo at your feet

    SUH

If I heard correctly the $100,000 fine is the largest to date. If hitting him in the pocket book doesn't wake him up, will a suspension make any deeper dent into getting him to comprehend? At the end of the day I love hard hits as much as the next guy, but Suh is just plain dirty. I'd think in the old days his crap would have been handled by an opponent. Maybe Long will get a chance.
  20. Per the Tribune; Les Frazier is asking Webb questions about Trestman's offense/scheme While this is not unusual at all, I can only envision the one and only response Les will receive: DUH, Gee Tennessee....... Disclaimer-old timers cartoon reference at play here.
  21. Cannot wait until he meets the boys from Detroit; I'd love to see him give Suh something to think about.
  22. Well put, upon reflection you are spot on.
  23. My initial reaction on Long was that he had his arms fully extended and was still putting people on their back. On the plays I noticed this, he did not necessarily rock the defender with a good punch, but just moved them at will. The guy is crazy powerful. I am extremely optimistic on the tandem.
  24. Nantz and Simms thought that kick could have been good at 65 yards. I'm glad Trestman gave him the chance.
