I'm definitely interested in someone figuring out why no one knew about half the 30 visits that the Bears had. Seems like most of the guys they took said in their media roundups that they had 30 visits with the Bears, and yet literally none of them were reported. How does that happen, exactly? Did Poles actually tell people to keep quiet or try not to have certain visits publicized, even if it wa a projected day three pick? is the Bears beat just not keeping tabs? And why did some get publicized and some didn't? And it even seems like there were some that were reported, like Tyler Warren, but then Greg Gabriel said it didn't actually take place. Seems like Burden didn't even come in for a visit but ended up being the pick in the second round. And yet another guy like Ruben Hyppolite, who wasn't even projected to be picked by a lot of people, had a 30 visit and yet no one reported it. Hard to believe keeping that quiet was necessary but maybe it was. I don't think there were reports on TreVeon Henderson coming in for a visit, and yet a lot of people seem to think he was the pick in the second round before the Pats took him one pikc ahead of the Bears. So, was he a target or wasn't he? Very strange to try to sort through after the fact.

- Updated 53-man roster (post draft)
Hard to believe they came out of this draft without any real competition at edge (unless maybe Turner plays there some) or safety, and no RB until the 7th. Have to hope the improvements at DT open up more opportunities from the edge, or that Dennis Allen has some blitz ideas, or it’s going to be tough to put pressure on the opposing QB. Have to also hope Brisker is 100% recovered from the concussion and that Byers keeps playing at a high level because there’s really no back up plan except for the same one we had last year.- RD7. Pick233. Kyle Monangai
Remember Isaiah Pacheco was another 7th round Rutgers RB that worked out ok.- RD7. Pick233. Kyle Monangai
Two things on him: 1. Zero fumbles so good ball security 2. That Rutgers offensive line was bad and he still got yards in the Big Ten.- MY GUYS
With the last pick - got one of MY GUYS!- Best Available Day 3
Bears picked a RB. Out long national nightmare is over!- Best Available Day 3
Sam Laporta was a 22 year old rookie TE in Ben Johnson’s scheme and put up 86/889/10 TDs- Best Available Day 3
I think Loveland is basically the starter over Kmet. After that, I’m just not sure there were that many starting slots available. Would a 2nd/3rd round DE start over Dayo who they just paid? Was there a sure fire starter at LT in that range? Maybe RB but I don’t think even a guy like Kaleb Johnson was going to be a day one starter over Swift, he would more be a guy who gets carries.- Bears select Luke Newman, OL at #195

Short arms are concerning. Interesting to see Poles relent on that a little after showing a propensity for long arms in O-linemen previously. Maybe the influence of the new O-line coach?- Best Available Day 3
Hey, I had my expectations too and they haven’t been may the way I thought, but new regime, with their own feelings about the roster and what they want it to look like, I’m trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they don’t deserve it, but day three of the draft, I’ll give you a chance and let’s see what happens.- Best Available Day 3
“Build through the trenches!” ”No! Not like that!”- Best Available Day 3
I’m calling it - Poles is going to take a kicker with one of these picks.- Is Poles becoming Pace?
Every GM thinks they are the smartest guy in the room. That’s why they have the job. Most teams probably feel the same way you do about their GMs, I’m guessing, thinking they reach for players. When you focus on your team you feel like you’re the only one. The only thing that fixes it, or makes you overlook it, is winning. The Pats reached for players all the time when Brady was there but we remember the successes and just overlook the failures. I remember when we took the consensus “best guy on the board” and it was Hroniss Grasu, Anthony Miller, and Riley Ridley. You have your ups and your downs. That’s the draft.- Best Available Day 3
Lots of RBs still available. Might be Brashard Smith but give me Ollie Gordon and hope he gets back to 2023 production behind a real offensive line.- Best Available Day 3
Funny - last year the Bears traded a future 4th straight up to get the 5th they used to get Booker. Then this year they trade their 5th for a future 4th and also get a 6th round pick in this draft. Seems pretty shrewd to me.- Bears select Ruben Hyppolite II, LB at #132
That’s kind of what day three is though - where you trust your scouts and your interactions with the players and let that dictate what you think the best players and fits will be. Sometimes it doesn’t work out. Sometimes you get Braxton Jones or Deandre Houston-Carson. Sometimes you get Tristan Ebner or Thomas Graham. For most teams it probably evens out over time.- Bears select Ruben Hyppolite II, LB at #132
I learned a long time ago not to get worked up about day three of the draft so I won’t here. Apparently ran a 4.4 40 at his pro day which would have been best of LBs at the combine, (though he’s only 5’11” so he’d better be fast). Was a captain at Maryland and got the defense lined up. Wouldn’t have been my pick but no reason to think he can’t be in the mix to replace Jack Sanborn at that other LB spot.- The Bears first 2 rounds
I guess we’ll see if they actually address it, but it sure seems like they played the RB position right. Who knows if they wanted Henderson, but after him there were only two RBs drafted (Kaleb Johnson and RJ Harvey), so with that high fourth round pick they pretty much have there pick of most of the same guys that would have been there in the 3rd.- Team notes
Interesting note - best I can tell, there was no report that any of the Bears first four picks in this draft (Loveland, Burden, Trapilo, Turner) came in for a 30 visit. This after every pick from their 2024 Draft except for Tory Taylor had come in for a 30 visit. 🤷♂️- Bears select Shemar Turner, DT at #62
Then there’s this. 😳- Bears select Shemar Turner, DT at #62
Interesting note that Turner has logged significant snaps at NT, 3T, and even DE. Maybe they see him a bit of “twofer” pick where he can play anywhere on the line and help inside and out.
