The whole potential law suit is to be allowed into the supplemental draft since the nfl is telling him no. Again, I have no idea if he would win or even have a good case against the nfl.
-
Hub was on the score this morning and stated if Collins is cleared he will sue the NFL for the opportunity to get into the supplemental draft and believes he will win the case. If I'm Collins agent that would be my strategy to get my client paid and his best chance is the supplemental draft.

This was what I was absolutely hoping for out of our new GM, a responsible draft with no major reaches or players without a true nfl position drafted.
-
No surprise that Bucs reach with the selection of D. Smith as it was Lovies' MO to do such when he was Bears HC.
-
What a bad teammate.
Not a leader either!
-
I think they already know that answer with the Oline. So if we draft one then they dont think much of what we have.
You could make that same argument for any position.
Truth, OL is a need and was not particularly good last year and often neglected in past drafts.

Where did you get all the picks at?
I made a couple trade backs: http://fanspeak.com/ontheclock/premium/draft.php?d=ivnbgb
-
I just did a fanspeak mock using the CBS big board
YOUR PICKS
1: R2P7 OT JAKE FISHER OREGON
2: R3P15 OG/C ALI MARPET HOBART
3: R4P12 CB IFO EKPRE-OLOMU OREGON
4: R5P15 TE BEN KOYACK NOTRE DAME
5: R5P31 CB CHARLES GAINES LOUISVILLE
6: R6P5 DE 3-4 BOBBY RICHARDSON INDIANA
7: R6P7 RB KARLOS WILLIAMS FLORIDA STATE
8: R6P13 DT DERRICK LOTT CHATTANOOGA
9: R7P12 FS RYAN MURPHY OREGON STATE

Ok, I'm getting pre-draft gitters!
Please, Please, Please, Ryan Pace just make a good football draft pick like what Pittsburgh or Baltimore seem to make!
Nothing crazy or gimmicky please!
-
I was just looking up more info on Bronson and he is a FS. The more competition the better!
-
What are the chances of the Bears moving up to grab Leonard Williams?
What would this take and would it be worth it?
-
unless they are sending him to Seattle for Jimmy Graham than I would hate it! Bennett is a beast and probably the best TE the Bears had in modern times or ever.
-
The past regimes (JA & Emery) tried to get to cute in the draft and every tried pulling rabbits out of their hat only to squander opportunities to draft high floor quality football players. I'm sure hoping Ryan Pace and company make good solid football draft selections.
-
I know what you talking about , in the last year, had to put both of mine down.
Stinger, I appreciate the sentiment and sorry for your loss as well. Losing both dogs in the same year must have been really devastating.
-
Also announced, Former Bears DE Corey Wooten and Brett Farve to re-enact his (Favre's) last play in NFL prior to the jersey retiring ceremony.
-
Bad day just got worse... We unexpectedly had to put our family dog down today and then trying to get my mind of him
learn that Doug Buffone also passed away. Awful day.

Here's another good article - update on Lamarr Houston. He's certainly saying the right things and interesting that he's planning to be lights and talks about a return to playing 3-4 OLB. He indicates he primarily played OLB in 2012 and 2013, so this is a return for him.
http://chicago.suntimes.com/bears-football...ll-bring-animal
While a wolf may be ferocious especially in a pack, I would rather Houston use a different beast to describe the spirit of how he's going to play this season like Grizzly!
A mad Grizzly could take on a wolf pack!

Lots of people think he's the best prospect in this draft. I've also heard that coaches and gm's don't love him as much as the media does.
I have had this scenario only a couple of times and I took Williams every time at 7. He is an elite player you want to have available when selecting inside the top ten.
With Randy Gregory college production and off field stupidity, realistically he may be the one to drop.
This mock illustrates this scenario with Bears trading back to 13 & 31 with NO.
1: R1P13 DE RANDY GREGORY NEBRASKA (will be a rush OLB)
2: R1P31 DT JORDAN PHILLIPS OKLAHOMA (NT )
3: R2P7 CB JALEN COLLINS LSU
4: R3P7 RB TEVIN COLEMAN INDIANA
5: R4P7 FS DERRON SMITH FRESNO STATE
6: R5P6 WR CHRIS CONLEY GEORGIA
7: R6P7 S ADRIAN AMOS PENN STATE
Even with this trade back it's so hard to replenish all the deficiencies on this team such as OT, C, and CB.

Last year the first safety went at 18 then 3 others fallowed from 21 thru 30.The previous draft 2013 15,18 and 32. 2012 the first safety came off the board at 48. 2010 was the last time a safety was drafted in the top 10 and that was Eric Berry. 9 picks later Earl Thomas was selected and imo Landon Collins is not in the same category as those 2 were coming out. Notice that I have no reference from 2011 because that year no one drafted was listed as a safety. They were either a CB or DB. Clearly this position is going the same route as the RB. Teams are more inclined to use a 3rd CB instead of the traditional safety.
Very good points Lemonej and I think the Bears need to add another CB or two in this draft and apparently I'm not the only one:

#Bearsmailbag hey Michael, what are the chances of doubling up on cbs and taking trae waynes
@mikecwright: Good question because such a move would certainly make sense. Bears assistant director of college scouting Jeff Shiver was on hand recently for Trae Waynes' pro day at Michigan State, and the cornerback is expected by some to be the first defensive back off the board. So I think there's definitely a chance the Bears could go that direction because from this vantage point, the team needs at least one more corner. Right now, Tim Jennings and Kyle Fuller are the starters, and it doesn't appear the Bears plan to bring back Charles Tillman. So the Bears need to add another solid corner to the mix, and Waynes might fit the bill. Waynes is a fluid player, and in college he played a ton of man coverage, which should make him appealing to the Bears as they transition into what's expected to be a more aggressive scheme under new coordinator Vic Fangio.

One spot we are short on players is DE and we need to address that position in the draft more than once in 6th, otherwise like the names. I joined the Fanspeak and its lots of fun, which big board do you use? I have been using MattMiller
I vary the boards used but can't remember which one I used for this mock.
-
Eh, not really a fan. Great tradedown, but picks suck
why do the picks suck? Who would you have taken differently? Do you just hate the players, position selected or what round player/ position selected?
-
I like it up to the point you take Jay Ajayi. I'm not too big on him, he goes down too easily and doesn't seem to offer much more than a RB we could take later.
Why do you want to move Fuller to FS and replace him with a 3rd Rd draft pick? I get that we need help at FS but we need just as much help at CB especially if Fuller isn't there.
I highly doubt Randall lasts until Rd 7. He's had far too much positive press lately. If you go to CBS Sports they have him listed as #2 FS overall, Rd 2-3 grade. If he made it to the 4th Rd I think he'd be a good pickup for us because he has the athleticism and mentality to play FS, meaning he's more likely to hit somebody than Vereen, but needs time to learn the finer points of how to play the position. Keep in mind he took two years off from football before getting back into it at ASU. That's where Antrel Rolle comes into play. Lacking the athleticism to stay at CB, Rolle has had an excellent career at FS through his work ethic, smarts, and leadership.

I'm not advocating moving Fuller to FS but he did play a hybrid DB position in college. I feel there is a lot of depth at CB in the draft more so than Saftey so would be good if bears took a bigger tweener DB like Rowe who could maybe move to FS. I would have no problem if the Bears drafted 3 CB's this year.

I would be thrilled if the Bears draft unfolded like this, how about you?

OLB may be, maybe that's why they signed McPhee when this team already had 6 capable guys slotted there. Two guys in this draft i think will be the type of OLB you want...Fowler and Dupree. Big and fast enough to not be a liability. Bad teams do have to draft for need because they have holes and the Bears are bad. You have to look at how the roster is composed and when contracts expire. Those will be the players selected. Once Pace has the holes plugged with youth, they will or can do the BPA's. Use rotoworld and make a chart of all Bears signed, when they become a FA and then you see glaring needs in a 2 year window or further. The Bears have to use the draft as their primary resource for these needs. Free agency needs to be avoided and used as a filler if the draft looks unlikely. That's why I feel trading down makes the most sense. OLB might be the best player available, but the Bears have more money at that position with only 2 guys capable of playing at once. WR? They could very well go there, I wouldn't be surprised or mind. CB or S are huge needs, but I don't see one at #7. DT or a 3-4 End is needed, C is there also. Then secondary needs RB. QB, TE, OT. Then you have your upgrade thoughts MLB etc. Well March madness and beer has me writing a book...lol
I see CB and Safety as possibly the biggest needs currently.
