  1. He turns the ball over too much for my liking. QB's that are drafted based solely on skill rarely turn out. That's what would scare me away from him.
  2. There should be 12 or 13 million in dead cap space if he is cut next year. 10 million that is guaranteed, plus whatever is left of when the bears converted his salary into a signing bonus last year. 3.5 million is closer to his dead space number this year if he is traded.
  3. Yea, basically if you keep him here this year, it effectively makes him here in 2016 too. If not, the Bears will be on the hook for 10 million minus his new contract. It's not a try it one year and wait and see decision. It's a 2 years or nothing thing decision.
  4. The decision making on when to throw the ball is a problem, but he does work through his reads well. The big thing for me is this. 8 teams that made the playoffs this year have a QB that a case can be made for them being in the top 10 QB discussion. Obviously Brees, Ryan, Manning, and Rivers are in that discussion to. However, of the 20 teams with out those guys in the top 10 discussion, only 4 made it. Defensive play makers are a huge need on this team. A QB is so much more important to a team. This is the lowest I hope to see the Bears draft in the foreseeable future. In my mind, the Bears won't be drafting in the bottom 16 again. This will be the one best chance the Bears have to make a move and get that special prospect at QB.
  5. Going by current mocks, I would swap with the Skins and give them a 4th, and draft Mariota at 5. I think Cutler will at least gain a 4th in trade. That cancels out the lost pick, QB of the future is drafted, and a bad contract is gone.
  6. Unless he has a Trestman like year one, I don't think that will be a problem. I think it will take him a couple years to get in the HC hunt again.
  7. You can't really wait til the draft with Cutler or Marshall if you plan to outright cut them. Marshall's base salary for 2015 becomes guaranteed March 13. Prior to March 13th, the Bears would only be responsible the prorated bonus money against the cap. If he was cut prior to the third league day, he would cost over 5 million in dead cap space. If the Bears wait till after, he will be closer to the 11 million mark. With Cutler, 10 million of his 2016 cap number becomes guaranteed on March 13th. His cap number if cut would jump from 19.5 million to 29.5 million. They can still be traded after the 13th. If traded they were traded, Marshal would only count around 5.4 million against the cap and Cutler would only count 4 million against the cap for this year. The draft isn't until the end of April.
  8. Supposedly, Gase had a verbal agreement with the niners before the Tomsula promotion.
  9. He probably thought he was going to get the SF HC job, and when that fell through he was banking on the Baltimore OC job. Then Trestman got it, and now he is here.
  10. Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet 7m7 minutes ago Former #Broncos OC Adam Gase is flying to Chicago to interview for #Bears OC tomorrow, source said. Could move very quickly.
  11. It's the circle of life. The Fox take a poo, the poo (trestman) grows the berries (Kubiak), the fox eats the berries.
  12. I think there is some kind of disconnect between Fox and Gase. I'd be surprised to see him brought in.

  14. Forte go super sub, considering who got in as a replacement at RB.
  15. No matter how this turns out, the Chicago Bears just stole the hottest FA DC from an owner that never gets outbid. That alone is freaking huge.
  16. I wonder if Matt Cavanaugh will keep his job, or even be in the running for OC.

  18. It just felt different to me. If he just blew the question off, that would have been what I expected. Instead he rambled on, and kept going back and referring to who they do start which made it stick out more to me than how Pace addressed it.
  19. I am wondering what that says about Peanut and Briggs situation. It seemed like they would be shown the door by the old regime. Both seemed to hint that they thought this would be their last year with the Bears publicly. The door may now be open for a possible return of one or both.
  20. The media make it out to be that Cutler will be back for one more year. The way Fox went about answering that question was very cautious, and telling to me. I thought it was worth mentioning, so I did.
  21. The instability at QB definitely hurts. It's hard to get an OC to put their career in the hands of Cutler or an unknown. Cutler hasn't exactly helped anyones careers, and the alternative is a big question mark.
  22. It was very awkward how he talked about it. It was sort of like he already planned to move on, and then later he described what he looks for in a QB, and it's one that wins. The Urlacher thing stood out with me, and I think that is great. I'm sure it caused some issues in the locker room how that ended. He could be an asset to be brought in to the locker room a times.
  23. The press Conference is about to begin. I figured I'd start a thread for it, and throw out a link so ppl can watch it live. http://www.chicagobears.com/live.html
