He was a bust 4 weeks ago. It's so funny. I need to start retweeting those. He has shown that he is the best QB drafted in the last few years.

If you follow Sports Mockery a lot of the posters refuse to acknowledge Fields improvement and say well we didn't win. SMH

Evans was awesome, that was my childhood. Fields is Evans, Vick, Jackson, Cunningham all together.

Thank you Adam! He ran back kickoffs under Jack Pardee just to get on the field. Then whoever was his OC designed some QB sweeps to fit him in the offense.

If this was  Lamar Jackson it would be headlines and highlights everywhere in NFL news.  Media folks haven’t had time to digest what is happening with Fields but watch the tune  change during the course of the week.  Fantasy football types will lead the way because they always find  TDs.

AZ I am a staunch watcher of ESPN and NFL Network and both have been singing Fields' praises.

  4. Fields brings back memories of Vince Evans who the Bears drafted as a QB and I remember him being the starter in an epic Thanksgiving game against the Cowboys that the Bears won in a defensive battle in Dallas, Evans had a similar skill set to Fields and had a decent career with the Raiders after leaving the Bears. I believe that Willie Gault's first NFL touchdown was from Vince Evans.

  5. When I saw Sanborn take defensive snaps for the first time this year, I thought Morrow was hurt. Now with the trade of Roquan I think he may see more playing time on defense. I wouldn't be shocked if Montgomery is dealt also. Herbert has been getting the bulk of the second half carries in recent games.

I am guessing Ejax goes and likely Montgomery. Would be more surprised if Ejax didn't go than Montomgery as I could see Poles not wanting to mess with the offense (i.e., just keep Montgomery). But I wouldn't be shocked if a team like the Rams didn't offer up a pretty good pick for David that might be too good to pass up.

Both the Rams and 49ers have traded a lot of their future draft capital so I'm not sure what they could offer that would be worth anything.

Now that we all know, let's fix it.

The great rebuild is what we thought it would be.  Painful.  While I'm good with the pain, I'm not good with how it's being dispensed.  I get the feeling that Poles and Eberflus are using this season to evaluate Fields instead of develop him. That being said, they are probably trying to see what he's good and bad at, so they can put the appropriate talent around him to succeed.  What I want them to do is gameplan around what he does best for him to succeed.  It's a subtle difference that can have a happy medium.

This off season is going to be a monster and Poles has to be licking his chops.  Don't doubt for a second that Fields is going to be anything but our QB ends next year will be about him thriving.  My full expectation is a complete upgrade of our skill positions and OL.  Adam has already stated that the WR FA class is weak, so we'll have to rely on finding a couple studs through the draft or trade.  I'm also looking for a true center, because the two on our depth chart will be lucky to have a job.  Then, top it off with another running back.  The rest of the OL will be better due to time and experience, which builds the continuity they need.  On defense, it starts up front.  A pass rushing 3T would be huge, along with a space eater.  We could also stand to improve the LB corps.

There is a lot of work to do.  But it can get done.  I personally can't wait to start making mock drafts after the season.  As for now, if we can eliminate the mistakes, there is a chance for some wins.

Agreed and I'm already eyeballing Clemson DT Bryan Bresee. This guy is a stud to me.

  8. When you look at the Bears defensive alignment you can't tell who is playing what LB position because all are in the middle of the formation on almost every down but, on Roquan's pick he looked like he was definitely the WLB and made a play on the ball like the ones we have seen do it. Brooks, Marshall and Briggs.

  9. The worst thing for me, who is a supporter of Fields is that I can visibly see that he is misreading coverage. The best pass play of the game was a throw to ESB that was schemed very well, where Fields threw a dime and read the coverage right. Then there was the forced throw to Mooney that was picked with 3 defenders surrounding him.

Watching what Jacksonville did in the offseason and how Trevor Lawrence has done so far is what bothers me the most. He and Fields were the top High School prospects at the position at the same time.

I want so bad for Fields to break the Ohio State QB stigma because I'm tired of hearing that because there are so many schools that have QBs that crash and burn in the NFL.

How many QBs from Kunztown ST have started a game in the NFL since Eric Hipple?

  10. Think about it! Chicago had 2 teams. One of the Patriarchs of the NFL forced them out. No franchise wields more power in regard to direct competion than the Bears. I am amazed at how much crap the mayor of Chicago talks without researching the topic before she speaks. If she can't stop them from moving, how can she stop them from influencing the NFL from block another franchise from coming to town?

  11. You all know that I keep it close to the vest when it comes to predicting what the Bears will do on Game Day. I am so pissed at how guys like Dan Orlovsky, Chris Simms and KeyShawn Johnson have the ability and research to determine who has a solid roster or not and the two who were QBs sucked when they played in the league. Johnson was not a factor as a WR with the Jets and the Buccaneers defense was the driving force when he was able to get a SB ring. He was a number 1 overall pick and he sucked imo.

I think it was the process he had to go through to get Jenkins to accept playing OG. These days you gotta be a Psychologist to be a GM.

You are correct and we are seeing a GM take control of the roster that we haven't seen since Jim Finks was the Bears GM. He had a solid plan that he stuck to and Poles looks like he is doing the same.

  13. I think Schoefield gets cut because of how quickly he fell behind Jenkins who never played the position plus, when Patrick returns that frees up Mustipher for a dual role as backup center and guard with Carter and Thomas being Poles draft picks probably being kept on the original 53, that leaves one swing tackle position to fill ( Davenport)? Saturday is going to be a big day for a lot of fringe players.

  14. I'm going to say what I continue to say at my work place.

Roquan Smith is not better than:

    Doug Buffone not HOF

    Otis Wilson not HOF

    Wilbur Marshall Not HOF

    Lance Briggs not HOF

He is a talented but weird, thinking player who isn't durable or mentally stable enough for the Bears to guarantee significant money to.

That's true but the locals know what they should be seeing.  I don't read it much but I'm sure the national media is still securely fastened to Mac Jones' jock.

AZ we go back a bit and I believe the national media has Fields in the bottom of their 2nd year QB rankings. Meanwhile Trevor Lawrence a generational talent is getting a pass.

  16. I have quietly maintained that if you rate Smith versus 3 non HOF Bears LBs Doug Buffone, Otis Wilson, Wilbur Marshall and Lance Briggs I don't care what PFF says he has not performed better than the 3 players I mentioned.

I say Poles stand your ground. Smith has been weird every off season since being drafted.

  17. Quinn still being here puts a solid veteran on every level of the defense. I like the thought of him mentoring Gibson, Snowden and Robinson. I also believe that there are three young players to watch on the defense. Tonga as the "Under Tackle" the Tank Johnson role and my X factor is Mario Edwards Jr at 3 Technique.
