He will. But most of his work will come split out. At least it should. Who the hell knows when it's Turner making the play calls. He might use Wolfe at the damn goal line.

I'm not sure KJ ever turns into a guy who can carry the rock 20 times a game. In his career he's done it 11 times. Now, the Lions have sucked for most of that time (if not all of it) but he's constantly been banged up too. So, I'd say, given the 1 year deal for minimal money, the Bears are looking to have him, at best, share the load with Forte and AP. This probably means, when Jones is up to full strength, Forte 15 to 20, Jones 10 to 15 and AP for the rest.
  3. Who cares what you think!?!?!?!? BEARS ALL THE WAY BABY!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. There was never any doubt this was going to happen. They aren't cheap or dumb at Halas Hall. I'd like to hear they're making progress on the rookies. For two years in a row we've been the first team to get our guys in. It'd be nice if that streak continues.
  5. If he weren't tainted by being a Packer, I'd care.
  6. Simply put, if Benson was a good guy otherwise, if he had built up mojo with the team, if he showed he could actually play this game consistently well... The Bears would've stood by him and at least have waited until they knew more. As it was, this dope was on a short leash already because of all of the other items mentioned. I still think he has the talent to play in this league. I still think he was the right choice when drafted. That said, he's a bust and I understand why the team had to move on. I'm happy they at least addressed the position in the draft this year and hopeful Forte can be "the Man." Benson is a child.
  7. HEY LT2_3 Question: What are the cap implications of dumping Benson right now or later in June? I've never been a fan of his and I'd like to see the team move on. He's a repeat offender, problem child and over all dick. With Forte and possibly bringing in a vet via FA, he's expendable now. Sorry to say, another first round bust for JA. You can never know for sure how these character problem guys are going to turn out as pros, and I was all for picking Benson when they did, but I was wrong and so was Jerry. Time to move on.
  8. Only gives me all the more reason not to buy the update this season. Having a bad Bears team (since they base things on the previous year) was enough for me but this puts it over the top. I won't have Brett Faaaaavrah's picture anywhere in my house. F him and the horse he rode in on. I hope Madden realizes he's just written off sales in a major market. Sure, there will be a few who don't mind but I doubt they'll sell anywhere near the numbers they've sold in the past. And I'll bet most Packers fans don't even have TV's, much less Playstation 3's or XBox 360's. This is a really stupid move.
  9. The Bears will be good this year, not great. At QB, I see a solid competition between the two QB's bringing out the best in one of them. I still think it'll be Grossman but I could be wrong. Frankly, the reason I'm leaning Grossman at this time is because I think he let his success in 2006 get to him a bit in 2007. He was constantly thinking, the Bears are "dissing me" by not signing me up long term for a new big money deal. Like the New Years Eve Game, he took his eye off the prize, didn't show the required amount of pride in being his best at all times, and regressed. This isn't a defense of Grossman, I think that type of behavior is completely unacceptable. I'm just guessing he's learned from those mistakes, perhaps matured a little, and we'll see a much more consistent QB out there. At RB, we've got real competition again. I personally hope Forte blows the coaches away in training camp which will make Benson a role player. It isn't that I think Benson isn't capable of the same sort of revelation I'm hoping for in Grossman, I think he may be. But he's so turned me against him over the years, with his childish attitude toward the game, I find myself rooting against him. If he wins the starting job, I hope he stays healthy and puts up huge numbers. I'm a Bears fan and as long as he isn't pulling Pac Man Jones type stuff, he'll be my guy when the whistle blows. Regardless, we've got three or maybe even four guys at RB who I believe can get it done. OL - My biggest screams last season, before the hitting started, were about this area of the field. We've addressed it some in the draft. A lot of the success this year will depend on how quickly this group comes together. I still think we need added depth here (at Center, for one) but I'm pretty sure we've got a few guys coming off of injury from last season who may help out. If this group improves modestly, we're good. If they really gel, we're a playoff team with potential. WR - We'll see. I think QB play will improve if the OL gels. I think QB play will improve if our RB's are getting better than 3 yards a carry. If QB play improves, the numbers our WR's will have will also improve. This is my biggest worry on offense this season. Damn if I wouldn't love it if they could trade next year's #1 pick for Chad Johnson. I think that guy makes this team 10 times better, immediately. And, unlike a lot of other loud mouth WR's out there, I've always thought he was mild by comparison. TE - while we don't make good use of them in Turner's offense, I still have hope that we can prove we've got the best set of TE's in the league. And damn if we didn't draft another guy who is supposed to be solid as well, as long as he can avoid trouble. ST - We're going to have the best special teams in the league this season. DL - Dusty needs to get in there and stay healthy. Is there news on him? I still love this group even without him but think it can be one of the best in the league with him back in there. LB - #54 will be back. This group will again be special. We've got a bunch of guys who should be pushing Hunter this season for his spot. That's a good thing. CB - No complaints here. S - Does Brown still have something to offer? We were OK here last year without him and we've got some young talent coming on, probably. We'll see. Saying good bye to Archie appears to be addition by subtraction. If Steltz is the modern Doug Plank, as per Kiper, we're fine at this position for years to come. So, to sum it up, I'm not drinking the koolaid yet but I do see this team as one capable of bouncing back this season.
  10. OK Darth. Whatever you say, dad.
  11. Because he's still unreliable and unproven. Of course, so was Bradley, she-devil WR of the Midwest. If we have someone coming up through the ranks who can get the job done, as you suggest, Bennett maybe, who knows? But my fear is we had Berrian and Moose last season and basically nothing else. Now they're gone and the one girlie-man we'd hung our hat on has sprained vaginal muscles. Actually, you aren't really disagreeing in a big way. You agree with me that great WR play can open up the ground game more than vis versa. You aren't as much fun to fight with anymore. Have you been eating the same cereal as Mark Bradley, wonder-pussy? What else is new? Well, at least we have a Superbowl loss to be happy about...
  12. I guess we've both been busy. WHAT! Oh yeah, wait a second, Grossman NEVER hit Berrian deep. I forgot. PUUUUUUUUHHHHHH LEAAAAAAASE! I agree. He's a good #2 if we have a solid #1 who can stretch the field. If not, the lanes will be jammed and he'll get little. Look, I don't know if Hester can play WR at all. I think he can but I'm not sure where exactly he fits in best. I think it's in the slot, put in motion. He can literally end up anywhere on the field using that formation and movement. But that isn't my point, he ain't a #1, so we agree. We need one! If we don't stretch the field, TE, any TE not names Gates, is diminished. We need someone to play the spot. Once again, Bradley has proven himself unworthy of trust, over and over. We can't rely on him to be available and we've NEVER been able to. I've been saying this for a long time. Lastly, to whoever scolded me above, I'm not really this big a peckerhead. It's just that I appreciate it when the Bears players play like MEN and not women. I've been talking til I'm blue in the face about this sissy Bradley for at least two years now. I really lost my patience with him last season. I pray I'm wrong or that at a minimum the Bears found somebody in the last two draft classes who can play the position. If not, it doesn't matter too much if GrossTon has improved, if the line has improved, if BenTe is a good 1/2 combo at RB, we're DEAD. We can't expect our D and ST to be that dominant this season. The O must contribute. With dog food at WR, we can't succeed. JA, don't let me down, find someone to be our #1 WR!
  13. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this guy is a complete and total pussy. Get "him" a box of maxipads! JESUS CHRIST! When are the Bears going to learn their lesson with him? He's never shown more than "potential" and that has been on such a limited basis, after this long... You've got to cut his ass. I TOLD YOU SO! I was right, all of the softies out there, were wrong. All the "Gee CD, give the kid a break, it's just flukes." All the "Hey man, injuries happen. He's a tough kid." BULLSHIT! Sorry man, if this kid needed to be scoped he should've had it done a month ago. Either the Bears training staff is full of complete morons or this guy hid from them, not wanting to be checked out. Based on his history of skirt wearing, I doubt it's the Bears trainers. I hate to say it but we've got to look at Koren Robinson and/or any other WR still out there and available. We need someone who can get down the field besides Hester because Hester isn't a prototypical WR. He lacks the height we need at that position. If we head into the season with Booker and Hester at 1 and 2, we're dead. PERIOD! I could cover Booker and I'm 43 and 25 pounds overweight! PS. Been a long time for me on one of these rants. That felt good!
  14. I hope he can play guard or tackle. We don't need a friggen TE. I'm very suprised with this pick. Our 1 singularly clear need going into this draft was the OL and we've taken one player at that position thus far. I don't want to turn this into a childish tantrum but DAMN IT JERRY!
  15. Kiper just compared him to Doug Plank. Few here are probably old enough to remember him. He was who Buddy Ryan named the "46 Defense" after. I have no idea if Kiper is right but the highlight film on this kid looks like he's got great instincts. I hope he hits like ol' #46.

    Forte Stats

Well, at least this post wasn't another childish temper tantrum.
  17. Why not Jones or Jordan via FA and blow off drafting a RB in the first?
  18. He's a significant injury risk but if he passes a physical, I'd try to get him. As I expressed elsewhere on this site, I'm not certain Benson has what it takes in several regards. Having him on the team would allow us to focus on OL and WR in the draft.
  19. LOL! Wow, was I surprised to see the thread I started had become this long and was moved to "off topic" because of the fighing going on, I suspect. Oh well... Can't we all just get along? Frankly, ANY discussion of a rival is clearly on topic. This thread shouldn't have been moved, IMO. That said, you guys really started going after each other. Let's save our poison for the enemy! Back to my original point, I just think Favre was way over the top with his emotional show the other day. Get a grip Sally! Sheesh. I don't hold it against a guy for shedding a few tears, Payton did when he was having the press conference about his health. But to go on and on and on weeping like a school girl... Damn. As to Favre, in general, I always hated him because he was a Packer, not the other way around. I didn't hate the Packers because of Favre. His winning streak over us ended 4 years ago and we've dominated him since. Lovie said he knew how to get that done and I'll be damned if he didn't know what he was talking about. It'll be interesting to see how the Packers move ahead at QB. I've heard talk about Sage Rosenfelds... BWAAAA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! Ah well, let the Sage era begin! Later guys.
  20. Unless he's signed with someone in the last day or two, he's still available. I'm with the folks here who blame the OL more than the backs. We're old there and need a lot of help. A LOT of help. I was worried about the OL last season before it started and now I'm just frustrated as all hell. That said, Benson is pretty darn close to being a bust in my book. Has anyone heard how his rehab is going? I know a guy who knows someone on the Bears staff who said something along the lines of "Benson has an injury that takes a lot of dedication to rehab. From what we've seen, he doesn't have the intestinal fortitude to make it happen." I'm paraphrasing but this is from someone I have no reason to doubt. It may be time to look elsewhere.
  21. I like it. A 1 year deal loaded with incentives. What more could you want? If he wins the job and turns out to be Good Rex for vast majority of the season, he'll have proved he's worth a longer higher paying deal. If he can't beat out Orton in camp, having a QB who played us into the SB on our bench isn't too bad. $3 million is peanuts these days. Interested to see what they do in the draft now. Griese is gone, IMO, but a lot depands on where they go in FA or the draft. I guess this means we won't be chasing McNabb.
  22. Don't you always? I agree with you on most of your above thoughts. However, Booker is old and I wouldn't sign him. I'd find a kid in the draft that looks like him (statistically) and sign him cheap. You can find a WR like this in the 4th round or later. I'd absolutely cut Moose for a kid but not for Booker. I have to believe it's a push on the money side and Moose probably has a step on Marty and statistically they've produced about the same for the last 3 seasons (about 50 catches on average.) So, I agree with the concept of a "Booker-like" player, just not that Marty is that guy anymore.
