Probably. Hey, real quick, name one QB who never has communication problems with his WR's. Thanks.
-
I think some of his earlier WTF's (from prior to Trestman) were due to shitty O Line. But this is what I meant by the next threee weeks are critical. If we lose 2 of those 3 games, we're going to see Cutler press more and things will get worse. I sense if we can, instead, win 2 out of three, he'll calm down a bit, things will come together and we'll make a serious push for the playoffs. This is in Jay's control and he's paid well enough that we have every right to expect better than we've seen. It's on him.

First off, let me just say this... I was pissed with Cutler's play this weekend too. And he has to get goddamn better or we're not going anywhere this season. With that said... Statistically Cutler is still a top QB in this league. Question what you want about how he handles himself during interviews or when you see him on the sidelines in the few shots of him we're shown, whatever. Facts are borne out by numbers. There's certainly room for improvement and he's got to get his head outta his ass on various picks but they weren't all his errors either. Marshall hasn't been 100% and he quit on one last week. This week on another of Jay's picks the Bears sideline was up in arms about interference or holding on the D that wasn't called that held up the receiver. So Jay only has 6 picks on the year and I've already talked about 2 of them. I'm sure more research would address a few others. Meanwhile Luck, Ryan and Brees all also have 6 picks and they most certainly don't SUCK. For me, I'm very disappointed in Trestman. His play calling seems stagnant. There is no way this team should be without a RB rushing TD this far into the season. And let's be honest, Forte didn't help with his fumble late this week either. With better play from ALL players, better play calling, better health from our WR group, this team could be 4-1 right now. They've got flaws but they aren't unfixable. The D has been OK. I'd give them a C grade. And according to all the minds here before the season started, that was supposed to be good enough. Special teams still blows but at least we're now smart enough, most of the time, to take a knee and start at the 20. Earlier this season we were bringing it out, getting to the 10, getting penalties or fumbling. It was brutal, now it just sucks. The sky isn't falling. We should've expected some of this with many of our games being road games or against Green Bay at home. We've played very well at times and then horribly at others. Some of that is leadership, losing poise, and some of it is just bad luck. We need the key players on this team to step it up, Jay to spread the ball around better downfield than he has (generally) and the D to continue to improve. I'm still all for firing Tucker right now but he's likely our DC for the season so we'll just have to deal with it. Obviously the same goes for Jay being our QB and that's for longer than just this season. Blaming him for everything that's gone wrong these last two weeks is just foolish. We're at a turning point for the season over the next three weeks. Things have to improve but I've seen enough to know that it isn't all doom and gloom.

Did I hurt your feelings?
-
I've got a good feeling about this game. Hope I'm right.
-
LOL!
-
You've been surprised a lot recently. All the guys you liked, suck. All the players you ripped are doing well. Congrats. You're the kiss of death.
-
I think the answer to that is probably "It depends" but yes, stingers are usually a short term injury.
-
Dude is an idiot. Sooooo glad this happened to the Lyin's!!!!

Not sure if it's universal or just something else going on this year. The Eagles who have one of the best offenses in the league have started off slowly, IIRC, all three weeks. Maybe it's just the lack of practice in preseason due to the new agreement. Hell if I know. But it isn't just us and it isn't just West Coast Offenses.
-
And what offense you run, regardless, wouldn't explain leading the league in picks and fumbles. The lengths the Cutler-haters will go at times is stunning...

I'm not sure one way or the other but we always heard that Hester didn't have the brains to understand where to be when playing WR for us. Both with Trestman here and otherwise. We tried to use him in packages that should've suited his talents but even those plays never seemed to work very well. I think the combination of turf vs. grass and the limited time he's been in the Atlanta offense accounts for the difference. He was targeted 6 times in Week 1 and has had 1 target in each of week 2 and 3. That's hardly anything to write home about as a WR. He had one end around run where he looked fantastic, speedy as ever. But that's one play they could've had him practice dozens of times the week ahead. My kudos to him are on the return game. He makes all of the guys we have look like they're running in mud. He still has it there in a huge way. But you'd have to be a moron to kick to him. Like Lovie. On kickoffs if you don't have a kicker capable of putting it through the end zone now, you've kept the wrong kicker. 90% of kickoff are ending up in touchbacks. And punters have had the idea of kicking it out of bounds for years with Hester back there. So... the value in keeping a guy at the price he was going to cost us is difficult to justify. When he signed with Atlanta they could treat him like any player off the street and pay him what he was worth to the market. We'd have had to pay him, I believe, that plus the cost of his history with the team. Would I have loved to see him break the record as a Bear? Ab-so-lutely. Was it worth it to keep him as a WR at the cost of having a guy on the team who might actually contribute there? Not so sure.

Ha! Whatever. All I know with 100% certainty is that if McCown's numbers were even in the neighborhood of the same ballpark as Cutler's there'd be twenty threads on this topic, not 1.
-
Yep, I suppose it depends on the scoring system but Cutler is the #2 fantasy QB in the NFL right now.
-
Pretty factual article. And they don't really go that deeply into his press conference. He has a bad history and a pretty positive few years. Let's hope he keeps it positive.

IMO, the thread is entertaining and there's no reason to delete it. If people don't like it when they're held accountable for their statements (or actions) then they shouldn't say or do those things in the first place. It's like Marshall, not being happy with people bringing up his past. Well they wouldn't bring those things up if your past issues didn't exist. Terra is a huge fan of Kyle Fuller now and didn't like people bringing up the fact that he hated the pick only a few months ago. I get told to GFY for teasing someone about their constant support of a former player despite the results we've seen. Here's the deal... Just say "My bad" every once in a while. It cleanses the soul! Take your lumps, admit you're wrong and move on with life. Like I've said lots of times, this isn't life or death.

Dude, I don't mention you by name because it isn't personal to me. Shouldn't be to you either. There are plenty of Cutler haters here so my comments aren't meant to single you out in any way. Chill bro, I actually like your posts a lot. I liked Jason's posts a lot too. But I also think if you're going to put your opinions out there, you've got to take what comes your way. I dish it out and I've taken it here, mostly without whining. We're all buddies here dude, at least that's the way I look at it. If I were giving you shit about Cutler/McCown in a bar, we might fight, I guess. But more likely we'd have another beer and you'd laugh knowing I got you on this one. But you'd have gotten me on plenty as well. Point being, let's have a sense of humor about this site. This isn't life or death and I don't waste my time with internet mudslinging. A little shot or two here or there is meant in fun and I hope everyone takes it that way.

Ha! Someone has to keep people on their toes here. Thanks.

LOL! I love that this thread lives on. I wasn't planning on chiming in but what the hell... As to McCown playing on a Lovie team and Cutler on a Trestman team and this comparison being apples and oranges, bullshit. Tedford's offense was supposed to be all that and a slice of cheese. They have stud WR's and RB's that should be able to set up the passing game. McCown has simply sucked ass this year but there's too much pride in some of the folks on this board to acknowledge the OBVIOUS. McCown had one shining moment in his entire career and it was last season for four games as a backup. That experience gained him the opportunity to be "the man" and he ain't got it. Sorry, pretty clear at this point. And listen, I wanted him to succeed. I really did. And I hope he gets out there and does well whenever he comes back from whatever injury he had last night. I had to turn the game off because it was a laugher and no longer interesting. There is NO WAY McCown pulls off what Cutler did against San Fran last weekend. And sure, I know some here will say that the great Josh McCown wouldn't have started off as poorly as Jay and therefore the Bears would've won anyway. Whatever. Jay and the rest of the offense clearly need to drink some Red Bull before the games as they generally come out of the gate slow but that comeback, 4 TD drives in a row, is one for the ages. And it was done on SF's field on the first day it was opened. Winning under those conditions, after the first half we had, is something we've not seen many times in the almost 50 years I've been a Bears fan. And yeah, Cutler can be an asshole and he's certainly far from perfect, but anyone still pining for McCown is a chump or a hater. Sorry, that's all there is to it.
-
Oh no. What happened?
-
The Bears responded to this perfectly, IMO. Emery handled this well.
-
My question too. I didn't see it. Did they portray him in a negative way or talk about his troubled past? Frankly some folks don't like it when that stuff comes up even if they've overcome it. But if it's true and if it adds to the portrait, it's fair in my opinion. And given all of the shit that happened this week, even if it wasn't the best timing for Marshall, it's timely.
-
Do worry about it. Most here know what to expect from Terra.
-
Peanut, you'll forever be one of my favorite Bears. I wish you all the best in whatever it is your future holds.
