His team couldn't tackle all season. His team blew basic assignments all season. His team couldn't contain all season. Others have pointed out that Tucker didn't have much success in the past either. I'm not going to research that now but if true, why was he hired in the first place? I wouldn't hesitate to cut him loose immediately. Injuries are one thing but when your guys can't do the basics, it's YOUR fault as a coach. He should've been fired with approximately 30 seconds remaining in yesterday's game. I have no problem with the blitz but given all the issues that secondary has had all season, put someone back there in umbrella to help double (or in this case cover) the guy who breaks it deep. That ball was a blooper and anyone back there could've knocked it down or intercepted it. Game over. His career as a Bear should be over.

Precisely my point which several here can't seem to fathom. No surprise there. I'm OK with folks ripping on Jay when it's deserved but then I went to Facebook after the game and all I saw was posts like "Can we fire Jay now?" And then I figured I come on here to see more rational discussion but... Oh well. Yes, Jay had a few drives where he was less than perfect. But I'd like to draw everyone's attention to a few games earlier in the year that Jay won for us with last second heroics. I'd like to point out that our Head Coach lost us one game on his own, probably two. And the D was brutal for most of the season and without a stellar effort from our offense we'd be damn close to 0-16. For those that just want to argue on the relative merits of McCown vs. Cutler, I'm out. It's my opinion you don't have a clue and aren't worthy of wasting my time with. Your memories are too short. So I'm completely done with that conversation. McCown was outstanding by comparison to what we all expected from our backup and I applaud his efforts. I love that guy! But those results are an anomaly and cannot be expected going forward. Furthermore, Jay grew a lot this season and did NOTHING to warrant his not getting a new contract. I'll leave it to the experts to determine the $$$ and hope like hell we get to see what Jay can do with another season under his belt in this O, with a D that actually gets him the ball back once in a while. A defense that doesn't have us constantly trying to catch up. Lastly, for those that put down their marker on firing Jay, you can bet there will be those of us that remember that in the future. And we won't be kind.

Oh, and Jeffery fumbled. Jay played his god damn heart out today, made plays and even after all that shit he was still within a jump ball Hail Mary of pulling it out. If that makes me a Jay defender then sobeit. As far as I'm concerned I'm being rational and all this anti-Jay stuff just help morons feel better about themselves. I know it's easier to blame it all on Jay than on our squad walking away from a live ball and giving up a free TD. I agree with much of what you say above but I think Lovie's D given the same circumstances would've been significantly better. They were his guys, it was his scheme and they would've played for him. Tucker doesn't deserve another year if you ask me but I expect him back.

Perhaps a sign the team is planning to move on without Cutler? Think about it. Less mobile McCown, a guy Cutler hasn't hit more than once a game all season with a pass, an offensive player not named Jay gets signed up first. Could be nothing or it could be the first sign of things to come.

Don't waste your time with the haters here. In their minds it doesn't matter we were behind 21 before the game really started. Somehow Superman Josh would've put up 55. All that poor play on ST was Jay's fault. The O Line not being able to slow down the pass rush because they knew we were going to pass, also Jay's fault. The D giving up 54 in their minds somehow comes down to Jay as well. Tough to take this site seriously when our QB gets the main fallout after a 54 point game against us.

You probably should have checked the stats. Marshall and M Bennett for 6 receptions each. Alshon for 5, E Bennett for 4. I don't give a shit what the targets stat says, the receptions stat shows a damn good distribution. But all of this is irrelevant. The only people talkin about McCown being better than Cutler are dopes on the Internet. The professionals are singing Jay's praises for a reason. Sorry for being so blunt but I'm sick of this BS.

Ha! Me too. But with that said, I did expect Lovie to get another job. He wasn't perfect, wasn't a great coach, but he was good at a number of things and Houston could do a lot worse. I wish him well.

I think we can afford to go "Best Player Available" in the first round and then I expect us to go hard after defensive players for a while. So if a great center slips to the Bears spot in the first, they'd take him. More than likely we'll stay away from TE or QB and I don't expect them to draft a WR either in that spot. After that, you can expect D Line & D backfield. With that said, I don't really have a handle on what's available out there in FA in those spots. It's generally cheaper to find players in the draft though so I don't expect the Bears to break the bank this year on FA's unless it's Cutler's deal we're talking about.

I think he's been practicing all along but he's not seeing contact. So I don't think rust will be much of an issue. Unfortunately if he makes it back this week or next, he'll be really fresh. My hope is they continue not to get clearance from the doctors. our D is scary bad and Rodgers, even with a little rust, would be tough to handle. It would open things up for Lacy too. I'm just as worried about a revitalized Packers team in the playoffs as I am for that one game against the Bears. I don't want them making a run. We need to take them out!
