    Amen to that.

You should've just left your response at that. I agree with you he's been getting injured more frequently recently which isn't a good trend. But other than that, you didn't once dispute the fact that the Bears very likely would've made the playoffs now four years in a row but for factors Jay doesn't control. Not an excuse for Jay, just a pesky little fact.
  3. Yep, I think they restructure him right now. Wouldn't surprise me if that was one of the next things we hear out of Halas Hall. His play did improve a bit toward the end of the season. He's worthy of a three year deal if they think he can produce anywhere near his production before this season. Otherwise, he's gone.

LOL! Then you can't use making the playoffs as a criteria for judging him if you openly admit it wasn't his fault we didn't make it. Frankly, I think we very easily could've made the playoffs not only this year but in 2012 and it wasn't because of Jay we didn't. So it that's the case, his play could've led us to the playoffs in at least 60% of his seasons as a Bear. Hell, for that matter, we were 7-3 in games he started in 2011. Maybe it's 80%? See, here's the issue I have with a lot of folks here and on talk radio, they love to blame Jay for everything whether it's rational or not. People just sat there and watched this season unfold and wanted the Bears to let Jay go. But the PROFESSIONAL we have running our team says it was Jay's BEST year. What does that tell you? This place is hilarious.

And according to many here at the time, we didn't make the playoffs in 2012 because of Lovie.
  6. Really? Sources? I don't give a shit what Packer's fans are saying. If you throw out the Redskins game because Cutler played only a few series and project Jay's numbers out over a 16 game season, he'd throw for over 4,100 yards, 30 TD's and 18 picks with an average QB Rating of 93. What do you think those stats would be if we had a D that could get us back the ball more frequently? Or a D that didn't let the other team score at a record pace? As it is, that yardage would put him in the top 10 of QB's, the TD production in the top 6 and rating, top 11. Fact is, therefore, he's a better than average QB and guys who aren't "all that" are getting deals that are similar or exceed this one. As you fairly state, it'll all depend on where he goes from here. If we build this D up to be decent and don't take major injuries on the O Line or at other skilled offensive positions, is it reasonable to think Jay could put up top 5 QB numbers next season? I think it is. I don't know if this is a good deal or not. As others have said, it's about cap money, not average $ per year. We'll see.

Yep. The girls are all aflutter.
  8. Apparently he knew something. Someone else mentioned how tight-lipped the Bears were about this. I find that interesting. No leaks other than Marshall.
  9. Hey now, there are many on this board that think if Trestman could get big production out of a former high school assistant coach he might do crazy good with the likes of Craig Krenzel.
  10. Isn't he already? I'm not joking. Didn't he pass Sid Luckman as to passing yardage this season? Just goes to show you how damned pathetic things have been at QB for the Bears for the last 6 decades or so... You're right about the trophies. That means we need to improve at D and ST though.
  11. I agree with you except your adding "wins" to the end of your last statement. You could put the best QB in the league on this team and they'd be hard-pressed to overcome that shitty D. But hopefully we'll rebuild that this year. Again, we don't know all the cap details of this deal either. From an eariler article that quoted Spotrac, below are the deals other "Franchise QB's" got. Cutler still has to prove himself a Franchise guy but so do some of the others listed below. •Eli Manning, $20,850,000 •Matthew Stafford, $17,820,000 •Peyton Manning, $17,500,000 •Drew Brees, $17,474,000 •Tom Brady, $13,800,000 All in all, depending on the details, it might not be all that out of whack, money-wise.
  12. Your math is a little squirrely but whatever. On the $18 mil per season, all I've seen is that's what the first 3 years average. And that probably takes into account signing bonus, various roster bonuses, possible incentives, etc. Until I hear all of those things, you know, facts, I won't harshly judge the deal like you apparently have. If some of that money is in the form of various types of bonuses, and this being a 7 year deal, it could be very accommodating to the team. And with them having $46 mil in cap space (best in the league) this could leave a lot of money to chase FA's. But I realize you won't listen to any of that. You're better than Emery and most NFL GM's. A legend in your own mind.
  13. Yes! That would be the absolute right move.
  14. Per Emery: Point being, if you thought signing Cutler was a good move when it was done and if Emery is right now, this makes all the sense in the world.
  15. Wouldn't surprise me if the Bucs beat the Bears into the Superbowl. Lovie wasn't perfect but Trestman sure as hell isn't either. And Lovie's teams not only play D, they believe in ST's as well. This'll be interesting...
  16. You're an idiot. Not news to anyone here. But the rule only requires interviews, not hiring. So even if he was brought in because of the rule, he wasn't hired because of it. Get your facts straight before you make thinly veiled racist statements.
  17. It might also indicate he doesn't know what he's doing when hiring for the D.
  18. LOL! And I guess Emery must disagree with Genius JasonTM. Signed Cutler as fast as he could after the season. Emery must think Jay had a pretty good game against GB. Now he better get to work on the D...
  19. Oh, I'm fine with it too! I wanted him back and now we'll find out if I'm right or wrong. It being a 7 year deal probably makes the first few years very cap-friendly too. But I haven't heard any details on that to confirm.
  20. And there was no joy in Mudville, Cutler got his deal. LOL! But but but....
