  1. I was going to say this after the conclusion of the Thursday game but felt emotions would be too raw. I predict that Trubisky will no longer be the starting QB next year (if not sooner). I agree with Adam that "if we lose to Denver" not only will things only get worse, I'd like to see what Daniel or even Bray could do in this offense. I'm not kidding when I say Bray considering how solid (to me) he looked in the preseason. Yes I know its a bit cliché to wish for the backup when the starter sucks, but it is what it is.

    QB Hell

Trubisky threw into double coverage, with a single receiver. Rodgers did too except there were two receivers right next to each other, which by itself is an issue. You could tell with Rodgers his was more a ‘what the heck, why not throw’. And Jimmy Graham made the play due to his b-ball background. The thing of it, Rodgers has done this countless times and won. Trubisky has tried a few times and failed, like he did Thursday...and almost a few other times during that game.
  3. Yeah. My first blush on this game is how well Flacco goes so goes Denver. If he plays well they win. You can bet the Broncos D will be dangerous.
  4. I’m watching the Cleveland / Titans game to see the newest iteration of OBJ and how he and the new Browns do. So far this game has been a predominately defensive contest. With the running of Henry making most of the difference on the offensive side of the ball (so far). There also has been a fair share of penalties indicating the Bears and Packers were not the only ones playing sloppy ball the first week out. Oh, Case Keemun has thrown over 250 yards and 2 TDs in the first half for Washington in a 20-7 lead over Philly.
  5. Of course he did. Wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if that wasn’t his plan all along....
  6. Agreed. Still baffles me that it seems they didn’t give Montgomery a chance to get any rhythm. He had some nice runs (and one great catch) but seemed to have been shelved for much of the game. Like others have noted, there was no reason to pass as much as they did, not with the score as close as it was.
  7. Yeah unfortunately I think you’re right. He looked as confused as he did most times last year. I did see him audible a bit more than I recall seeing before but that may have been a bad choice on Nagy’s part. That is letting him do it. Rumor has it that Trubisky audibled out of a few running plays to passing plays; may explain the 40+ pass attempts? I can’t believe Nagy would be that foolish to call passes that often? And yes there were too many gimmicky plays this time. Those should be used sparingly, not constantly. Trubisky went back to locking on receivers several times when he went to throw. Had it not been for Robinson’s unbelievable talent it’s hard to say how many actual pass yards he would’ve ended up with. Someone here (I think) said Robinson makes mediocre QBs look good. All I can say is ‘yup’.
  8. Absolutely right. I hope Nagy is able to recover from this. I really like what he’s doing, culture-wise, with the team. I keep seeing comments about how last year the team also lost the opener but to me there was no comparison. Some similarities yes, mostly that no one really played in the pre-season (which I hate) but that’s about it. Last year the offense and the D clicked and the D lost steam. Rodgers was Rodgers and came back to win the game. This year, the offense never got on track. The D did its best but even then it looked a little more timid...I said a little more, not much. I still can’t get over how different Mack looked in last years season opener vs this year. And this year with a whole offseason to practice with the team. Anyhow, it’s clear the trajectory out of the gate...right now...isn’t going the same way. Especially on offense.
  9. Agreed that most teams look sluggish for the first 3-4 regular season games, but all the teams will be hitting that stride about the same time. We can’t afford to have the team go 1-3 or 0-4 while they figure things out. I saw Wims our there quite a bit as the Y receiver and expected him to be more involved. Not sure but my rough estimate is Trubisky looked at him maybe 1-2 times. The rest of the majority of the time he was locked into Robinson. D came out strong and to me looked like they gassed out late in the game. Mack was a factor early on but not much after that. Amazing if you compare his game one this year versus last year. I agree that Smith is something special. He fell prey to the lack of playing time too when he disappeared for most of the third quarter then came roaring back in the 4th. RRH is a solid player. He was last year and appears to be again this year. I’m not overly concerned about the D going forward. If this is Trubisky looking prepared and making an improvement after one year under Nagys offense; we’re in for a long year.
  10. What happened to Montgomery? He was the only productive piece (besides Robinson) on the O ... until he wasn’t.
  11. Pulled pork and Cuban sandwiches are awesome! Like it! Ive never been a fan of Nagy not playing his starters more in the preseason. Especially when you have a QB like Trubisky who struggles playing his position in game time situations. He needs more reps to become proficient ... plain and simple.
  12. Think it’s operator error, not the script writer. Maybe I’m wrong...but I suspect not.
  13. Trubiksy still looking flat. Sorry but there is no comparison to he and Mahomes.
  14. As an aside, I saw on the Bears website that the ‘experts’ have spoken and predominately picked the Packers. The national sports writers and commentators, minus Mike Golic, have sided with the Pack. Golic joined all the local Chicago sportswriters in picking the Bears. Ill be frank; I’m not as confident about the Bears as I should be going into this game but I’ll agree with many of you that this tendency of the national media not liking the Bears is getting old. Guess there’s only one way to change that and simply ‘play the game’. https://www.chicagobears.com/news/the-pick-is-in-bears-vs-packers
  15. Looking ahead unto next year, I learned through a trivia game that Khalil Mack has a younger brother, LeDarius, who is a senior LB at the University of Buffalo. How valuable a draft target do you think he’ll be?
  16. One more day gents. This commercial is hilarious, even if Favre is in it.
  17. Is the Facebook page up? I broke down and finally joined FB myself.
  18. I’ve been a huge fan of Wims since he joined the Bears. It’s ironic that rumors were Pace was eyeballing Riley’s brother Calvin last year but Atlanta nabbed him first so ‘settled’ on Wims (and now has Riley too). But was surprised based on his performance in last year’s preseason play he didn’t make it on the 53 man spot (personally still think he’s better than miller). And I have a good feeling about Tolliver. In spot play last year he did well when needed. The fact they haven’t really drafted or targeted too many CBs makes me think they’re comfortable with their CB depth. To me Tolliver figures into the equation because Amukamura is near the end of his shelf life.
  19. I was afraid of that. ‘Next Man Up’, Time to bring up Horstead or bring back Bunting.
  20. Too many unknowns; especially on O. I suspect the D will carry the team. Not sure how Trubisky will do; haven’t really seen him do much since last season. Yes there are a lot of new shiny pieces on O but we haven’t seen them in a game time situation since January. To me it doesn’t matter too much that the Packers are in a new scheme. The offense goes the way of Rodgers...and he’s still there. Their D isn’t shabby; have a new guy goes by the last name of Amos. And the two Smith guys are going to be a concern. Think the odds are right on this one. Predict a closer contest like 3 point separation with the Bears winning. 27-24, 24-21...something like that.
