Week 1 Official Game Thread - CHI @ CAR, SUN 9/13, 12PM CDT, CHI -2.5 O/U 47, FOX
While we collectively pine away for the game on Sunday, saw this while doomscrolling. He says he wore it his first year and was listed not as a QB but as an “athlete”.

Swift Extended, 3 Years, $33.75M
Over the course of his six year career he's managed 6,872 scrimmage yards (4,775 of those rushing). 2/3 rushing and 1/3 receiving making him a true dual threat. What I like about him is his durability. He's missed a few games over the years but nothing that seems to keep him out for very long. Even with a "chronic groin/hip" injury from last year he only missed one game. I'm for one glad he's back and will be for the foreseeable future.

Division news
What the? Mongo’s quoting scripture now. If BJ can do as he intends and become the highest scoring offense (scoring an average over 38(?) pts a game) then it won’t matter if it all happens in the last quarter. I’d prefer they do it over the course of all four quarters.

Training camp thread
In the ‘because we have to wait 11 more days before the season starts, why not’ category; Zavion apparently swapped from 81 to 13. And in case you care to know; Kaden Davis swapped to Davis' old number (81), Clark Phillips is now #20, Xavior Woods 32 and Scotty Miller went with 82.

53 man roster predictions
This one cat that does a lot of Bears vids said he and one other player will probably end up on IR tomorrow - and thought the same about that TE. And he thinks of the two vacated roster spots Sanborn will be called back to fill one.

I saw that a lot of the ‘new’ players appear to be on defense. Pretty significant overhaul there.

Why I'm Optimistic...
Sure but cocaine users can only use it so much before their heart explodes.

Dexter traded to the Falcons
Fwiw I like this Phillips kid. The brief highlights I’ve watched on him (sorry couldn’t get a link) he seems like a tough little defender. Heck knows the Bears need depth at Corner. And he played at Jaylon Johnson’s alma mater.

Why I'm Optimistic...
Im cautiously optimistic because of a few things. This feels (to me) a little like 2019. The year after the surprising rise of Trubiksy and Nagy. I realize Johnson and Caleb are not them but I still cant get over this Déjà vu sensation. I’m out in Colorado visiting family and started talking to a fellow Bears fan (while at the Coors brewery). His wish was for the Bears to have comfortable wins. Not as many of these cardiac wins like we saw last season. We agreed the schedule will be tougher this year and if Johnson is a man of his word, he’ll beat his opponents with the gas pedal pressed all the way. And lastly my caution comes from being a life long Bears fan. I’m ready to shed that feeling of being let down. Let’s do this!

Bears vs. Bengals
I have one of those. Frank Thomas edition. They are sweet!

Bears vs. Bengals
Speaking of football, did everyone see the Bears’ Rivalry unis? The one they’ll wear during the Packers game on Christmas? I oscillate between liking them, then not. I see where they wanted to reach back to their roots (which to me is awesome) but something just seems…off.

Bears vs. Bengals
I mean, going after Pix of all people? Wowza. Now Mongo and Stinger I get, but Pix? First we lose Dolly and now this.

Saw that too. Cronin says ‘nothing too worrisome’. What I had seen was he removed a brace when going to the sideline. Didn’t realize he was nursing an injury (torn UCL - Ulnar Collateral Ligament - back of elbow) from last season.

Bears vs. Bengals
I tried to find some specific highlights of Ahmed from this last game and only saw the TD run. I’ll agree he looked a little better than last week. And I’d agree with you that choosing between he and RoJo would be similar to choosing between Mayonnaise and Miracle Whip. For me; Jahdae Walker is that guy. He’s made the most out of his limited opportunities. Hot take: If either Burden or Odunze prove too fragile, Walker could surpass either. 🤷♂️

Bears vs. Bengals
What I saw (sans all 22 😉) was Jones get dominated on a few plays. Admittedly I didn’t watch the whole game from end to end but there were a few times I saw Jones getting pushed back like he was on roller skates. And I think at that point it was against the Bengals 2s or 3s…so yeah. I’ve always liked Braxton and wish he’d rise to the occasion but alas, it appears he’s peaked in his ability. Benedet, I think, was playing guard (??) late in the game and looked …. Meh. I hope Trapilo is the answer for the left side and really (more importantly) hope he doesn’t rush back but becomes the foundation for years to come.

Injury thread(?)
Seems like the way things are going we might need this. With Coby Bryant out, his new backup, Xavior Woods now hurt and just learned Monongai’s injury was worse than originally thought. Reports are that he hyper-extended his knee after (get this) Grady Jarrett tackled him from behind and (allegedly) ‘forgot they weren’t in pads.’ NBC SportsKyle Monangai (knee) to miss multiple weeksBears RB Kyle Monangai is expected to miss multiple weeks with a hyperextended knee, reports ESPN's Jeremey Fowler.

Cleveland game thread
Read this morning that both Monangai (knee) and newly signed Xavior Woods (groin) came out of the weekend scathed. Reports say Monangai’s injury was close to being pretty “serious” and with Woods‘ injury I suspect they’ll be on the market for another veteran Safety(?).

Oz is BACK - Activated off Pup today!!!
Yikes. Marvels of modern medicine. Or he’s just a quick healer. Patella tendon tear is a pretty devastating injury and after seeing him ‘limp off’ after he got it was pretty admirable. Dude must have an extremely high pain tolerance. Here’s to him not rushing back.

Did you guys see where apparently Coach Johnson was going to let his asst coaches call plays for half of the preseason games? This last game was Coach Randle-Els turn and he did the second half. Is that when they separated on the score?
