Being in the military myself I know fisrt hand how he feels..........GRRRRRRRRRRRReat!! Its great to be able to do things you can to do, but serve your country and at the same time play in the NFL!!!!!!! What more could you ask for! Now he also has feelings of relief....not having to come over he in Iraq and risk getting killed but that's part of the Army.I like the guy and wish him all the luck in the world! I wish that he wasn't a Lion but a Bear!

With what we drafted our season depends on how the players are used on offense this year. We have three TE'S two of them can catch and are 6'5' and above. If they are not targerts in the Red Zone this year then we need to fire Turner. You have got more speed in the backfield and you can use Hester as a RB out in the flats and for screens.Look at what Wolfe did with the screens last year, the shake that Hester has could take a screen to the house more times than not if done right. We can create many mismatches in the secongary with both Davis and Olsen in the game at the same time they are both faster than Clark, and with Monk on the feild too at 6'4' 222lbs. We lost Berrian, but Bradley, Hester and maybe Bennet can all make up for that speed deep threat We need to run off tackle more than up the middle. Garza and Kreutz can not hold blocks long enough for up the middle running but long enough for the back(FORTE) to get to the outside. Use Benson if healthy up the middle or the FB. The Oline show be better this year so Rex/Orton will have time to throw the ball. I think Rex comes back and has a great year taking care of the ball and cutting down on the forced throws are bad reads. Heck I can throw to 6'4 and up guys that can catch all day. The defense should be great once again. We have another Tommy Harris type in Harrison/Dusty, Help at SS, speed at CB and a few good players all around. And the special teams will be special again this year.

Given the what we have and what we drafted we are going to have a good year. My only concern is health. if we stay healthy as in the Superbowl year we will get back to the playoffs with at least an 10-6 record. We should sweep Green Bay and Detriot & split with the Vikes. We should beat the Panthers, Falcons, Titans,Buccaneers,Rams, and the Texans. We will have tough games with the Colts, Jaguars,Eagles and Buccaneers, Saints.

So that we have addressed some needs how will it translate to a winning season? Here is my take on what needs to happen, with our players on offense LT=Williams/St.Clair LG=Adams/St.Clair/Oakley C=Kreutz/Beekman RG=Garza/Oakley/Beekman RT=Tait/Barton 1 WR=Booker/Bennet 2 WR=Bradley/Monk 3 WR=Davis/Hester/Hass TE=Clark TE=Olsen TE=Davis QB=Grossman,Ortan,Hill FB McKie, Runnels RB Forte, Benson Peterson,Wolfe(Either Benson will be on IR or Wolfe might be left out

There are alot of numbers Fote could wear. #20 if they cut Archuleta #22 #25 if Wolfe gives it up or gets cut #27 #35 #43 #45 #46 #47 #48 #49 But my bet is #27

Mike Mulligan checked in from the airport in Florida on his way from the owners meetings. He got a couple interesting tidbits during breakfast with Lovie Smith Wednesday morning. Check right here for his full story. A few highlights: *** Smith projected that Mike Brown will be the starting free safety. Presumably, that means Danieal Manning is out of a job and Brandon McGowan and Kevin Payne will battle for the strong safety job. *** Smith reiterated John Tait could be moved from left tackle to right tackle depending on what kind of personnel is added. He couldn’t name an offensive line, though, or a quarterback. And then there’s the situation at running back. Smith called the position deep in the draft. *** As expected, Israel Idonije has been moved inside to defensive tackle. *** Smith said he expects running back Cedric Benson to be ``motivated.’’ No word on what happened in terms of motivation in 2005-2007. *** No player will ever be taken out of the role they’re best in, so Devin Hester will not disappear as a returner. That doesn’t mean he won’t be spelled at time to time by Manning or maybe Rashied Davis. *** The quarterback job between Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton will be decided in training camp. Bourbonnais, here we come.

The San Francisco 49ers announced on Saturday that WR Darrell Jackson has been waived. “I always had a great deal of respect for Darrell as a player in the NFL," said head coach Mike Nolan. "I appreciated his dedication and work ethic during his season with the 49ers. He always had a positive attitude every day he came to work. While we are going in a different direction, I know he can still produce and be an asset to an NFL team this year.” Jackson joined the 49ers on a draft day trade with the Seattle Seahawks last April. Jackson started 15 games for San Francisco in 2007 and finished third on the team with 497 receiving yards and fourth with 46 receptions. He also added three touchdowns. In his nine-year career, Jackson has recorded 487 catches for 6,942 yards with 50 touchdowns in his eight-year career, which includes three 1,000-yard seasons.

Search is on for another tight end for our running game Is this guy a better blocker than Gilmore? At 6-6, 270 pounds, he's bigger than Gilmore, so he is a big body.........but can he block is the question. We don't need him to catch just block. If we sign him and draft a Tackle and OG we might be in good shape on the line March 13, 2008 BY BRAD BIGGS bbiggs@suntimes.com The Bears began exploring possibilities to replace third tight end John Gilmore, entertaining Aaron Walker on Wednesday at Halas Hall. Walker is considered a solid blocker but less of a threat in the passing game than Gilmore, who rarely was sent into the pattern in anything but goal-line situations. The question with Walker, who turns 28 on Friday, is how his left shoulder has recovered from November surgery to repair a torn labrum while with the St. Louis Rams. A fifth-round pick out of Florida by San Francisco in 2003, Walker caught two passes last season, and his career high is 10 for 115 yards in 2004 with the 49ers. At 6-6, 270 pounds, he's bigger than Gilmore, who signed a three-year, $3 million deal with Tampa Bay. The Bears have pass-catching tight ends in Desmond Clark and Greg Olsen but need a blocker for short-yardage and occasional two-tight-end sets. Another option is Bennie Joppru, a former second-round pick by Houston. He was on the Bears' practice squad in 2006 when Seattle signed

BY BRAD BIGGS bbiggs@suntimes.com One wide receiver has run a fly pattern out of Halas Hall, and the Bears might have to make a decision on another before long. Restricted free agent Rashied Davis, a slot receiver, is generating substantial interest, and he's an attractive option for teams because they would not have to compensate the Bears for signing him. The Kansas City Chiefs might make a move for Davis. They have only four wideouts under contract, including former Chicago Rush star Bobby Sippio, and would be able to use Davis as a returner. The Chiefs ranked 30th in kickoff returns last season. Davis, who turns 29 in July, received the low tender offer of $927,000 from the Bears, and because the former Arena League player was not an NFL draft pick, the Bears would not receive a pick if they chose not to match an offer sheet. The Bears lost Bernard Berrian to the Minnesota Vikings

We have an offense that needs help. So what do you do as the GM. IMHO i would look what we have left in FA and get the cheapest but best player out there like Starks from Pitt,Scott from Indy or the Seahawks Locklear or the guy from the Chargers Olivera (or somthing to that nature) Then I would go drafting. I would get Clady(OT) in the first RD. Flacco (QB)in the second RD, Charles or Johnson(RB) in the third McGlynn(G/T) in the fourth, Hubbard or Hall(WR) in the fifth, six and seventh best player in those rounds. We might need to get and extra DT and FS too
-
The Bears will have an open competition at the left guard spot between Beekman, Oakley and Metcalf. Who do you think should or will win this spot? St Clair look good at the spot late in the year and he also might be in the mix for it.
-
Archuletta is by no means a Ronnie Lott. But IMHO I think he was thinking to much last year and he is not a natural in the cover two system. As being an LB in college he is better at the line rather than chasing WR/TE down the field When we had the three safties in the game he did well because he was allowed to float to the ball. He'll be back but will be on the bench.
-
If I had to change one thing it would be the blocking scheme of the offense. The Broncos always have guys running down the field and we always have the defensive linemen in our backfield. If we zoned block and use misdirection plays we will be better.

IMHO injuries killed this teams chemistry this year and provided us with a losing season. Next year if we re-sign Briggs and get all the players back from injury our defense will be Monsters again. 1. We will have O-Gun,Anderson,Brown,Bazuin,Idonije at DE'S. 2. DT we should have a nice rotation with Harris, Walker,Adams, Kennedy,Toeaina and Dvoraceck. 3. At LB Briggs(if re-signed) Urlacher,Hillenmeyer,Williams,Wilson.Roach,Okwo,McGlover,Ayanbadejo. 4. At corners it will be Vasher,Tillman,McBride,Graham,RMJ(if we don't cut him)FA/draft pick up. 5. FS D.Manning, Payne/Draft Pick(Philips(Mia) if possible) 6. SS M.Brown,McGowan, Payne We cut Archuleta,Garay, On offense we need to make some changes for sure. Grossman gives us the best chance to win if we get the blocking and running game to take pressure off him trying to win game all by himself as Farve did with no running game and WR'S. Maybe draft Flacco(Del). Look what happened to Green Bay once they got some WR, a RB and the Oline blocked better. Oh not to mention that their defense pretty much stayed healthy all year. We need to move Tait to the RT spot cut Miller.Find a LT in the draft(Baker(USC) or as a FA(Gross form Car)). St. Clair did a good job at LG either get Faneca or one in the draft, cut Metcalf move ST.Clair to RG and have him and Garza battle it out See if Brown can better with his shoulder fixed if not draft another taclkle/guard. Re-sign Berrian if not get Bowman/Hubbard in the draft and try to get Johnson in FA. Moose is slow and drops the ball too much(time to let him go) and use the speedy Bradley/draft pick. The running game sucked so look at Turner, Jones(DAL) as an option or maybe Jones,Mendahall(would be great)or one of the fast backs in the draft(we need speed back there). At FB McKie needs to be replaced he won't block bring in Runnells or better yet Ayanbadejo's brother(plays special teams too).

I really don't get this. How do you go from assistant defensive backs coach to assistant DB’s/safeties coach. Aren't you doing the same thing and you are still just an assiatant? Last time I checked CB,FS,SS were all DB'S There are D-linemen(DE,NG,DT) Linebackers(OLB,MLB,ILB) and Defensive Back(CB,FS,SS)

Packers | Father arrested for forcing son to wear Packers jersey Thu, 17 Jan 2008 00:13:19 -0800 The Associated Press reports Mathew Kowald was arrested Monday, Jan. 14, after restraining his 7-year-old son for an hour with tape and taping a Green Bay Packers jersey onto him. Kowald's wife told authorities about the incident. Kowald was taken to the county jail and held until Wednesday, Jan. 16, when he pleaded no contact, paid a $186 fine and was released. Kowald's wife has filed a restraining order. Kowald told the Portage Daily Register that the incident started as a joke. His son challenged him by saying he wouldn't root for the Packers. Kowald said the boy was laughing and his wife took picture when he tied him up. "Then he couldn't get out and he got upset and that's it. It lasted a minute. I didn't mean no harm, and he knows that, but I haven't been able to tell him that," Kowald said.

FREE AGENT UPDATE: WLB Lance Briggs is history, even though he's a productive player, he's not getting Brian Urlacher money from the Bears, and his off-the-field problems with driving and paternity haven't helped endear him to the organization. WR Bernard Berrian had a problem with drops in the first half of the season, but he put up impressive numbers considering the QB situation. Chicago would like to have him back, but the feeling may not be mutual, and the Bears will not get into a bidding war for him. QB Rex Grossman may want a fresh start after the intense scrutiny he's had to deal with for the past two years. If the price is right, the Bears will keep him since they were impressed with the improvement he displayed in his second go-round this year after an early-season benching. LB Brendon Ayanbadejo wants to be the highest-paid special teams player in the league (about $2 million a year), but he certainly won't get that kind of money from the Bears, who have too many other excellent special-teamers to overpay for a 31-year-old who will never see the field on defense. S Brandon McGowan finally stayed relatively healthy and showed that he could compete for a starting position and be an intimidating presence. TE John Gilmore has a solid niche as the No. 3 guy and the blocking TE, but he may want more than that with Greg Olsen emerging as the future at the position and veteran Desmond Clark still playing very well. WR Rashied Davis is ideally a No. 4 receiver but is content to be a role player, and he flourished late in the season on special teams. He won't attract much attention elsewhere, so he could be back. OG Ruben Brown, a 13-year veteran, is expected to retire but said he would like to play another year for the Bears. FEELING A DRAFT: The Bears draft 14th and must upgrade the offensive line, although they need to provide competition for disappointing and injury-prone RB Cedric Benson, and they will be without a No. 1 wide receiver if Bernard Berrian flees. Safety is also a concern if they decide they can't count on or afford always-injured Mike Brown. TEAM NEEDS Offensive tackle: Fred Miller's production didn't come close to matching his paycheck, and the 12-year veteran could be released. LT John Tait would be better off at right tackle. Guard: Ruben Brown will probably decide that 13 years are enough, and Terrence Metcalf, the apparent heir, was a bust after Brown needed shoulder surgery. Young backup Anthony Oakley and 2006 fourth-round pick Josh Beekman never even got a chance after Metcalf flopped, an indication that they aren't ready to play. Quarterback: To get back to the Super Bowl, the Bears need a difference-maker at quarterback. Rex Grossman didn't make any strides this season, and they can't count on Kyle Orton being any better.

You know what I mean....its the next year 2008 for us we are not in the playoffs, we cleaned out our lockers and are headed for the off season.

We play five playoff teams this year, (well four we play the Packers twice) and we stand a good chance of doing what we did in 2006 at 13-3. The way I see it we should only have the Jaguars,Colts,Eagles and the Packers as games we might lose, once we get this ship fixed Home Jacksonville Jaguars New Orleans Saints Philadelphia Eagles Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tennessee Titans Detroit Lions Green Bay Packers Minnesota Vikings 3 Dome teams Away Atlanta Falcons Carolina Panthers Houston Texans Indianapolis Colts St. Louis Rams Detroit Lions Green Bay Packers Minnesota Vikings 6 DOME TEAMS
