  1. Totally with the assessment. Bar none, our biggest need is OL.(guard in particular) LG was atrocious and RG wasn't good before a knee injury; so I don't see Louis as a factor. I would love to see us sign Levitre and draft an OT, G/C, TE and 2 LB's. My perfect draft scenario would be to trade down for an extra pick or two and draft Barrett Jones in the late 1st early second. He would provide the flexibility we need, as there is no decent backup to Garza. He could come in and start at any interior position. I also think we need to give Gonzales a shot before we draft a TE highly. Lastly, a high caliber LB is needed to replinish some speed in this group. I don't care how it happens it just has to happen. I absolutely will puke if I see another free agent special teamer signed. Those positions should be filled by draftees looking to move up.
  2. I'm thinking 4 years. Interior guys usually don't last as long.
  3. Cutler can wait. He needs to prove himself this year or I'd prefer he move on.
  4. It's weird like that. I really like and respect Tim Tebow, but want throw something at the TV whenever they bring him up. I would literally turn the channel during the the whole "Favre watch". I am thinking of burying my set in when Canton calls...
  5. The Colts need a good guard badly and they will be 55 mil under.
  6. As the best FA guard last year, Carl Nicks got 9.5 million per. While Levitre is not Nicks, he's damn good. How much are we willing to pay? I'm thinking he commands 7 to 8 mil.
  7. You dont bench special teamers. You cut them or inactivate them. Neither will work well for Hester or the Bears once the season begins. Whatever happens, happens before the season starts.
  8. Yes they were. We'll find out now if it's players or coaches...
  9. I think it's minimal. Anyway, he's offering nothing, so it's time to give someone else the roster spot. If you can save enough for the vet minimum, I'm good with it. Same with Spencer, Davis, and Spaeth...
  10. Agreed fully. One thing to note is that Toub is no longer here with the blocking schemes Hester thrived under. Watching Jacoby Jones last night tells you how much speed Hester has lost. His 2.7 mil will be better used elsewhere. Trade him if possible. If not, cut him...
  11. I was thinking the exact same thing when I read this article yesterday. I'll add that it makes Barrett Jones higher on my radar than ever. Garza is no spring chicken and grooming his replacement is a pretty big deal. So, I'm thinking sign a solid young OG and trade down and pick up Jones. Nice post AZ...
  12. Young, Mariuchi... They all look alike.
  13. You not knowing what it is, in and of itself, is a gross violation...
  14. I don't think you know which 2 they are... Who does at this point?
  15. I rank my faith in this order. Webb, Scott, Louis, Carimi. I think all 4 are on the team next season, but who knows...
  16. Totally agree, but not with this situation. I think our young tackles and Scott are redeemable. I think the only instances where it is warranted is if Louis doesn't make it back and there is also no option to backup Garza.
  17. Three new OL is too much. Continuity is huge to an OL and some of our guys are still developing. 40% change is enough for one year. We can invest in more next year as well. But LB, TE, WR and DL also need addressed.
  18. Alright dude, you broke a guy code on this one. If you want to crack on someone, you don't ask for help in doing so. Bush league...
  19. i can live with that if he's healthy.
  20. Disagree again. There are more large schools generating college ready players than ever before. There never used be any type of nutrition, strength and conditioning at a lot of schools. Now, you have year round programs and camps dedicated to grooming the next generation. As far as talent pool depth and 1960. That's just speculation until you can give some data that tells me there are the same amount of "quality" kids playing football than 1960. Wrong again. With TV and ineternet coverage, better athletes are going to smaller schools because they no longer need to attend Notre Dame to get exposure. And the smaller schools are simply getting better. Part of that is because there are so many kids playing football that are better. The scouting process has also broadened to glean that talent. My argument stands on the quality of the high school pipeline. They are simply bigger, stronger, faster, practiced and more savvy than 30 years ago. So, in your opinion, parity is a result of poor play vs what I think is better play. I think this subject needs more input from the rest of the group.
  21. I completely reject this theory. The population growth of 62 million could support 5 teams. The population in 1976 was 8mil/team in the NFL. Since then, the ratio is 12.4mil/team. Plus we can factor the emergence of Samoan players makes the pool deeper.
