  1. I liked Scott, but I think we basically have a better version of Scott in Adams. If we were looking for a DT, I think it would have to be one capable of rushing the passer.
  2. I may have been one who "complained," though it wasn't my intention. I think I did point out we had a prior agreement, but also said I could work it out for Sunday, and simply requested to know exactly what time as his email only said "early afternoon". I'd be fine w/ tomorrow, but as I said before, my key concern is we have only heard from about 1/2 the league, which makes me fearful the other half is still under the impression we are drafting Monday evening. Anyway, he shot me an email a bit ago and said 6pm Monday was fine w/ him. I asked him to change the time on the draft site and email everyone of the change.
  3. Two things. One, I think we need a secondary commish. Someone who has access to the site and can make changes if we can't get ahold of DB. Two. I think we need to (a) simply change the draft time to 6pm and ( send all owners an email regarding the change. Going off our FF thread, I think we had a majority of owners who agreed to the 6pm change, and I can bring another vote (Papabears) who was on board w/ it. I know flea said something about the time change, but I also thought he said 6pm would work for him. I also know Gary talked about work, as did you, but thought the 6pm would work for you guys. If that is the case, I say we do the above and simply make the change. We have a majority, and I think we would be good to go. Agreed?
  4. I know there is an email option, but didn't want to step on commish's toes. Also, unless we have enough who know each other, I am a bit worried about getting word out to everyone. But if we do have enough who know each other.... We need to schedule a conf call Okay, seriously. What do you think? I would lean toward Monday's 6pm, but only because I fear not getting a hold of everyone. Just spoke (text) w/ Papabear, and he is fine for whenever, but just wants to get something set.
  5. Calling all Keeper FF players!!!!!!!!! It seems we have a bit of an issue on draft time. I don't know how many owners are on the board now, but I propose we decide between one of two times. Modany at 6pm CST. I realize the site still shows 8pm, but we had agreed to move it to 6pm, and I think most realize that. If this still does not work, we can try to move it to..... Sunday at Noon CST. I am giving a time here as the "early afternoon" talk really does little to give us a hard draft time. Only concern I have here is whether or not we can get the word out to all the owners in time. I can get in touch w/ PapaBear. He will be stressed and cry he isn't prepared, but he would be available. So what do you all say.
  6. I would not say it can't be tweaked or worked w/, but it does seem like there was agreement on Monday evening, though I think we had agreed to move the time from 8pm to 6pm, and that was done for Gary and Flea at their request. Honestly, I would be fine doing it anytime Monday. I don't have to work. I know the friend I brought in doesn't have to work either. For that matter, I could probably still do it tomorrow. Honestly, for me, it is far more about getting a firm day and time. Especially if we are talking about drafting early afternoon tomorrow, I would really just like to get this planned.
  7. Pix, I just got an email back from DB. He said he didn't think we had agreed on Monday, but I guess he received several emails about it, and now is saying it will be moved back to Monday. I did remind him though that we had also talked about (agreed?) to move the draft from 8pm to 6pm.
  8. For the keeper league, I got the email that we have moved the draft up to tomorrow "early afternoon". Can we set a time? I don't know if we are talking about noon or 3pm, or if we are going to do it earlier or later, or what. Family is wanting to do some stuff, and while they understand I have the draft, I would like to know when it is so I can plan around it.

    So when is the draft?
  10. I honestly don't really get it. Hood was a player we liked a while back, but didn't get him. He become available, and we didn't hesitate. While I am not saying he played well in the game, did he play so bad so as to dismiss all prior ideas which caused us to go after him? And what about McBride. He played well enough two years ago when given the chance as a rookie, but has pretty much gone straight downhill, and what I saw recently, he was freaking bad. It truly isn't that I think Hood is so good. It just seems like McBride has been that bad.

    First cuts

At the end of the day, I think it simply comes down to this. Your bottom chart WRs have to be able to play special teams. Rideau may have more potential at WR, but he needs to step up enough to take a higher spot on the depth chart (which he didn't) or improve his special teams play.
  12. No question we need DBs, but I would point out we also are in serious need of DL. Wale will be an UFA, and I doubt we keep him. Brown is really little more than average. Anderson is a wild card, but I have no seen enough yet to give me a ton of confidence. Inside, we have Harris, but can we count on him? Harrison is always talked about, but I just have not seen enough, and the rest are not much more than average. Secondary is a need, but so is DL.
  13. Only got to see some of the game. While I am not going to question Hood over McBride, who has really fallen from grace, is noting tackles by a DB really such a great measure. If your CB makes a tackle, that means he was also allowing a catch. Sure, some could come in run support, but if your CB is leading the team in tackles, to me, that is a bad thing. That means that CB was getting picked on. Maybe he was a sure tackler, but I sure would rather have a DB that prevents the catch. I think he makes the team, but just question how well he played, especially if we are basing his performance on tackles.
  14. I would say if anyone is going to kick him to the curb, its Aromashadu, not Davis. While we all talk about overall talent at WR, the staff is likely also looking at specific traits and stuff. In otherwords, Davis may be viewed as a end of the depth WR/special teams ace. Heading into camp, what was probably the top thing fans said about Rideau? He brings size to an otherwise pretty small WR corp. Well, w/ DA stepping up through OTAs, camp and preseason, it would seem he has filled that size roll the staff and Cutler may have been seeking. At the end of the day, Rideau is one of those players who fans seem to fall in love w/, but simply didn't do enough when the opportunities were there. It seems like he did well in OTAs and early on in camp, but as camp went on, I heard less and less of his play, and he just didn't do enough in games. I realize he did well toward the end, but by then, it was against scrubs. He previosly had chances against better competition, and just didn't do enough.
  15. I agree 100%, but it seems like I have been arguing w/ quite a few around here who felt his job was in jeapordy, or that he could be put on the practice squad.
  16. With the exception of Rideau, I think a big part of that simply has to do w/ having more playing time. I say Rideau is an exception as he has gotten into games relatively early prior to this game. AP did lead the team in rushing, but lets not pretend that 3.3 ypc avg was anything impressive. KJ going down, even if not a big deal, could give the staff pause. Any thought of Knox not making the team should be squashed. If not for his receiving, then for his special teams play. Just can't really see many big surprises on D. I think there may be some surprised by way of starters or playing time, but less so in who makes the team.
  17. Just found it on channelsurfing.net, which looks like it uses that justin.tv feed as well. I'm good though. Thanks.
  18. After finding that the injury is more than just a little cut, I can understand the look on his face as it probably did hurt. Reading the Bronco's boards and seeing things like "Orton's career ending hangnail" and "I'ts called a band-aid Kyle" shows that the Denver fans aren't amused but the rest of us get a chuckle. But leads me to wonder how on earth do you come up with that kind of injury by simply touching Whale's hand lol. I thought only Rex was that unlucky. IMHO, Wale had brass knuckles on. We couldn't see them, but they were there. I think he also sharpened the edges. He could hit the QB and knock the crap out of him, or swipe at the QB and cut him. Orton got cut.
  19. This is the part that really hacks me off, especially if I were a Texans fan. While there are many levels of authority, on some level players have to police each other. In baseball, you throw at my stars head, guess what will happen in the next inning. I (as the pitcher) may get tossed, but you can rest assured I will accept that. To me, this is even worse as this is a preseason game. If I am on the Texans defense, I take the attitude, who cares if we win or lose this game. If we get 10 roughing the passer penalties, and give up 15 yards ten times, so what. Who cares. This is not a real game, and we can affort to take as many penalties as we want. What we can't afford is for the opposing to team do what Favre did. Thus, Favre would have a target on his back that would not go away just because the whistle blows.
  20. You don't trade a franchise QB in the first place. Exactly. Lets think about it this way. Which is more expendible? A franchise QB or a HC? Think about it for a moment. A franchise QB can lead a team for a decade. How many coaches last a decade w/ the same team? Denver was trying so hard to find a franchise QB after losing Elway. Finally they found one. Then this 33 year old new HC decides to play some power games, and they are now in a situation of having to look again for that QB. Sorry, but while I don't want to minimize the value of a head coach, the reality is they are far more expendible. Honestly though, as much as I place blame on McDaniels, Bowlen gets the majority. No way McD comes in and tried to trade for a new franchise QB w/o the consent of Bowlen.
  21. I am not saying it never can work. But, like I think you agree with, it doesn't always work. One. To begin w/, I would argue our DBs play too far. I have watched many teams that run the cover two, and I don't recall watching any of their CBs consistently playing 8-10 yards off the LOS. Its one thing to talk about playing off the LOS, and keeping everything in front of you, but we seem to take that to an extreme. Two. As said to begin, its one thing to have your base coverage one where the CB plays off, but you need to (a) change it up, especially when it isn't working and ( adapt to the team you are playing against. - Okay, so you are facing Carolina, and Steve Smith is on suspension. Delhomme has not been looking good, and you have Tillman lined up against Muhammad. That simply does not seem like a situation where Tillman needs to give Moose 8-10 yards of space. Coaches throughout the league talk about playing matchups, but we seem to have the believe that we don't have to. - As for the other part, take that TB game Griese was killing us. I do not recall us ever making a change. Our CBs continued to give up the free 5 yard passes, and all I heard the staff say after the game was we needed to do a better job of getting to the QB. Um, if the QB is throwing the ball almost as soon as it is snapped, not many DLs in the league can get to that QB. As you said, Rivera did a much better job of mixing it up. I have said this before, but will never forget it. Heading into the playoff game against NO, Rivera really changed it up. I recall Brees talking after that game about how our CBs played man coverage, and played tight coverage at that. He said they practiced all week attacking our zone coverage, and our playing man really messes them up. He flat out said they were never able to adjust to our change. It made a ton of headlines as many in the media took that as calling the coaches into question. For me, it just made me realize (a) how effective changing this up was and ( how much zone we play. But, it is my believe that times like this caused us to let Rivera leave, and since then, I simply have not seen us mix it up. Most assumed it was Babich, but so far, I have seen our D doing many things w/ Lovie calling the plays that Babich was ripped for. I realize having your DB keep everything in front can work, but would simply argue it can only work if you mix it up. Further, I would state that giving a cushion like that makes it far more difficult to get pressure on the QB, especially if they are capable of dinking and dunking you all day.
  22. It works? Not so sure about that. I realize pass rush will make anything work, but I would counter by saying if you give WRs that much space, you can't get create pass rush. Remember the TB game last year. Griese threw 67 freaking times, completing 38 of them for about 400 yards. More shocking than those numbers was the fact that we had ZERO sacks. 67 passes and ZERO sacks. Some would rip our pass rush for that. While part of the problem, I would argue the real issue was that you simply can't get to the QB when he is throwing on the 3rd step. If you give the WRs a huge cushion, and essentially give them a free 5 yard completion, and the QB takes it, you are not going to get to the QB. Pass rush and coverage have to work together. Just like you can't sit back and not pass rush, while asking CBs to play on an island, you can't line your CBs up 10 yards off the LOS and expect your DL to get to the QB.
