  1. I'm in the midst of PCSing from Turkey to Korea. Now all my Bear games will be on at 3am on Mondays!!! I will be a sleepy SOB for work on Mondays...lol. I can't wait for the season and my 1st of 2 Fantasy Drafts are today!!! GO BEARS!!!

  2. I can see both sides of the arguement on Forte, but I just dont understand how they cant meet somewhere in the middle. I do believe the Bears have upped there offer when Emery took over, I would assume not enough to make a difference thou.

I can see both sides too. The Bears offer could have very well stayed the same considering no one knows how the knee will feel and the signing of Michael Bush. I would love to keep Forte, but I don't think throwing him the checkbook will make that big of difference.

I think he should've taken it when we offered it to him. He had a great season last year up until the injury and we, myself included, sat here and called us cheapskates. He took the chance by thinking he was going to get more money. Sorry, but Forte made his bed. I'd love to keep him, but if he becomes more of a distraction, tag him again next year and let him go if he can't agree to fair terms.

  3. Only because Forte hasn't signed an offer that would have guaranteed him more money so your premise is wrong. FWIW, Forte is guaranteed $7.7million while Shea is guaranteed $7.5million.

Yes because he wants more. The reason he's getting $7.7 is because he was tagged and it's for 1 year. Shea is getting it over 4. He could have had $13-15M guaranteed if he took the offer last year over however long the contract offer was.

  4. Daventry Bears Fan was an unfortunate quick sign-up after being banned with another S/N name and being determined to return....and working in Daventry at the time.

For those not familiar with the UK, Daventry is a smallish town in Northamptonshire....not too far from where Lady Diana grew up and is said to be buried.

I remember on the old site, there was an assload of wallpapers? What happened to all of them? :pray

  5. I know I've been absent from the board for most of the season but work had called. I still have been fuming over what transpired the last 2 months or so.

Here are the Top-10 things that need to happen prior to 2012 if we have any hope:

X--COMPLETE!!! :headbang :headbang 1. Jerry Angelo needs to go before the draft. If McCaskey want's to make a name for himself on this team, this must be done. JA has pissed draft after draft away and they can't afford to let him shyt the bed again. JA has neglected to get a decent second string. He hasn't taken into account injuries occur or people won't pan out.

X--COMPLETE!!! :headbang :headbang 2. Martz and his offense need to go. For the last 2 years, they haven't clicked until 5-6 weeks into the season. I truly believe it's not all on the players. Some...yes...all...Martz. Martz' stubbornness and inability to adjust kills us.

    3. The secondary needs revamping. Tillman had a great year, but that just exposed Jennings, Bowman, and the rest of the secondary's weaknesses. When the secondary started bleeding, we threw a cheap Wal-Mart bandage on it in Meriwether. We saw how that turned out.

    4. Lovie doesn't necessarily need to go, but he needs to adapt. The Cover-2, Tampa-2 or WTF he wants to call it has been figured out. When Lovie came here, his first priority was beating GB. Well, GB figured out how to beat us and our defense. The 46 was figured out, the 9-wide is getting figured out, come with something new or bring boxes with you to work to pack up your office.

    5. I'm not comfortable with the O-line. Webb-Gone, Omiyale-Gone, Louis has to improve. Chris Williams' injury history worries me and already Carimi is a concern. Edwin Williams and Chris Spencer I believe the jury is still out. I say draft a center that can step in and start right away and move Garza back to guard.

    6. TE is a must in any offense. You look at NE, NO, and GB and they all have quality TEs. Kellen Davis isn't quality however I will hold back on writing him off. Maybe in a new offense he will thrive. I think we need to draft an upgrade. I'd rather have two who can play the position than one who might.

X--COMPLETE!!! :headbang :headbang 7. I have a bad feeling about Briggs and his contract situation. Trade him and get what you can before he sits out and we have nothing. Use those picks for upgrades in the secondary, o-line, and receiver.

X--COMPLETE!!! :headbang :headbang 8. WR. Once all the kings' men put Knox back together again, he'll still be a #4 or 5 WR. We need WR. We have a roster of five #4 or less receivers. Keep Bennett (mostly because of contract) but because he has that rapport with Cutler.

    9. Get with the Chicago Park District, call the South Side, get the SodFather's number and have him fix the damn field. Falling receivers and slipping secondaries will not win up ball games plus stuck cleat sprain our RB's knee ligaments.

    10. Marinelli needs to adjust. He sees that slants beat this offense. Yet, no adjustments are made. No different coverages, no scalding of CB who let it happen, not enough accountability. Well guess what, you're the coach and the accountability will ultimately fall on you and your head on that stick in front of Halas Hall.

  6. My name is fairly obvious. Born in 1974 at Northwest Hospital on Addison and Central before it became Resurrection or whatever it is now. Regardless of what it is, when I drive the kids past it, I make them give a moment of silence. I became a Bears fan since I could speak because the very first song I learned as a little tyke was Bear Down Chicago Bears. My Dad used to have season tickets in the late 70s and early 80s. Active duty Air Force for 18+ years stationed in Turkey for the last 3. Actually broke my TV in my bedroom when Donald Igwebeke kicked a fiel goal to beat us!!! Bulls, Hawks, Sox and Bears fan to the death!!!

  7. I like that with one exception...I don't want to see Alshon Jeffrey handed a starting job as our #2 WR. I'd like to see him earn it.

I agree with that. Make him earn it right from jump!!! Don't hand anybody shyt. I think Tice will have a good handle on that on the offensive side.

  8. If the line can live up to the expectations and we get what we hope from Marshall and Jeffrey...I think we will have an amazing year on offense. Think about it, Forte played his ass off before he got hurt. Hopefully, it wasn't because of a contract year...but if it was, it's a contract year again. Bush will contribute big time also. I am excited about the offensive side of the ball for the first time in a long time!!!

  9. Glad to have you back! Nothing wrong with taking a break. Hell, during the regular season, I almost never visit this site. That's because there is an overwelming amoung of Bear's information.

During the draft, I plan on spending a great deal of time in the Talkbears chatroom.

I would but I'd have to get up at 3am to see it. If it was a game, HELL YES I would be awake, but with the possibility of Enis and McNown happening, I'd be pissed. Granted it would be a year or two later where I'd be pissed, but I hold grudges...lol
