  1. Very true. Cutler's been getting a free pass. He shouldn't.

    He is over-throwing

    He is showing bad mechanics

He is holding the ball too long

...he needs to improve on all that.

I fear he may be checked out...

Over throwing---Back foot from fear of getting gang raped by 4-275lb D-Linemen

    Bad Mechanics---^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Holding the ball too long---it's easier to get a 1st down from 2nd or 3rd and long than on defense after an interception. If he got rid of the ball, then we'd bash for throwing a pick. The line hasn't been giving him enough time either to get out of the pocket.

My cup is half-full, but the line needs to do a better job and give him time. If he gets time, we all see what we can do.

  2. Thanks for sharing that. It puts a lot in perspective...

I also wonder if on a larger scale...people complain more when the economy isn't so great? Seems like a planet aligning thing...

We saw the problems we had last year and were mad. We still won 12 games, won the division, and were a torn ligament away from the Super Bowl and we still bitched and moaned. Who wants their team to lose a game? Every year we predict the Bears schedule and not once have I ever seen anybody predict a perfect season, yet when we get one of the losses, we complain on what could have been done. Things happen over the course of a game and season that just happen. NE lost and they let up a lot of points.

I'm sure if we look at their "in-game" threads of ablow ot win, we'll see something about a bad play where the fans are bitching.

  3. When will cutler make the line and wide recievers look better, huh?

Cutler can't do shit to make the line better. It's not his job to make the line look better. It's the line job to make him look good. Put it this way, if I was hitting you in the head with a hammer over and over, the next time you were with me, you'd flinch because you'd think the hammer was coming. So Cutler gets hit/sacked/knockdown over and over becaus ethe line doesn't block well, so the next time he drops back to pass, he will throw of his back foot to stop the hammer.

Once the line gives time, Cutler can start hitting the defense with the hammer and the WRs will look good.

  4. The only dumb move this team made with Hester was taking him away from being the most dominant ever. Was just an awful "decision"...

I agree...we should have kept him a strictly return man with the 2/3 plays on offense as a decoy or on the reverse.

  5. Whatever. You know my opinion. I think everyone's obsession here with the media is ridiculous.

Keep on posting. I am about done with this sight because I am simply sick of the negativity.

I think you all are good people but after a while the constant criticism and negativity is grating.

Maybe I simply need to break away for a while.

    Take care.

    Peace :dabears

Connor, if you do leave, you will be missed, no doubt. However, this sight is about having discussions on opinions about issues/non-isues concerning our Bears. There will be some negativity and conflict along with positive items. You shouldn't leave due to people who you deem negative. You have disagreed with some of my posts, but not once have I took it personally or wanted to leave or even bad mouthed you. It was your opinion. And like I stated before, your opinion is what makes this board going besides the Mods. I truly hope you reconsider. If not, thanks for all your comments.

I hope you know that after you retire, Terra will write a book about you and depression and how you just didn't want to be part of this board anymore. Lith and myself will defend you with our posts.

  6. I assume any QB with half a brain wants the ability to call an audible. I cannot be certain, but I would bet that he could audible in some way, shape or form at both Denver and Vandy. And probably in high school. Most QB's do. Unless they are just pure athletes expected to run or pitch...

I've read the quote numerous times. I have heard it over and over on Comcast. It's painfully apparent to me that he is trying to call out the fact he cannot call audibles while trying not to call out Martz specifically.

I think his frustration is apparent, and related to a vast number of concerns, not just audibles.

This guy needs weapons (WR), defense (OL), and someone to develop a plan for him to do well (OC). If we continue at this rate, we're pissing his career away and squandering a huge opportunity.

  7. You said,

And for the record, for every Michael Haynes, there's a Lance Briggs. The Bears seemingly draft like s***, but all you have to do is go back and look at past Patriots and Steelers draft and realize that they miss on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounders as well.

My point was teams like NE, Pitts, etc miss on top 3 rd picks, just like all do, but better offset those misses not simply with average hits, but with stud level hits. So if you want to point to teams like NE and Pitt, and say they miss on picks to as a way of defending Angelo's draft record, then I'd argue you have to look at the hits, and deeper, the level of those hits.

Everyone misses. If you had a team that never missed, they would likely win every SB. But every team misses. Unfortunately, we miss too often, and don't hit enough to compensate. Worse, we have drafted next to none in terms of studs, which makes the misses even more glaring.

We consistantly miss though. It's almost painful to look at the draft and see players that were taken behind our busts...especially ones in that are successful players in the same position:

Mark Bradley (39) vs Vincent Jackson (61)

Danielle Manning (42) vs Roman Harper (43)

Just little $hit like that...not big names but names that are better than what we got.

  8. Wasn't really telling them to choose another team, just that it could be worse and to have a little respect. For every Kraft, Blank or Rooney there are Davis, Jones and Snyder.

    :drink

Would never choose another team, but the McCaskey's need to make some better decisions when it comes to hiring the personnel that puts the product field. JA and Ted aren't getting it done. If ownership hired better people, you know everyone would be happy. Success on the field silences all critics, Week 2 & 3 performances rallies lynch mobs.

  9. Great points jason.

Glad to see you're turening around in the WR area...

I agree...OL is still #1, WR 2. I still think a safety not drafted by JA is in order as well. Also, LB. Our depth there is horrid.

All else being equal our picks next year should be...

1-3 - OL, OL, WR, in any order depending on talent.

    4 - S

5- OL, get more, more is better

    6 - LB

7 - FB - we need better than Clutts

Out of that, we'd have 3 OL, 1 WR, 1 S, 1 LB, and 1 FB. I could definiltey live with that. Especially if someone other than JA is drafting.

Totally Agree. The 2 biggest priorities need to be OL and WR. I think Harris and Merriweather might be a good tandem, but Steltz and, possibly, Wright need to go. Steltz is not good at all. But with Harris and M-weather, I would bump the safety to 5 and get another OL w/ 4.

  10. In fairness most of us were pretty happy with the Taylor signing

Yes we were happy with Taylor but it was a bust. We were happy with many of his moves which turned out to be busts, failures and whichever other terms for crap you'd like to use. The line of success for a good GM is being able to find successful talent. Taylor, Manumaleuseless, Archuleta, and numerous draft picks that were wasted are what is making JA's mark on this franchise.

  11. I'm sorry but I'm a traditionalist and this saying the team is a joke because of the ownership doesn't set well with me. The team was built by Papa Bear Halas. The team colors and history chosen by Halas. The players wear his initials on their jerseys as a symbol of respect. George chose a few things before his passing, Mike Ditka as Head Coach and his daughter Virginia to succeed him as owner. There have been good and bad times with the Bears throughout their history but one thing is constant, that there always has been a Halas somehow involved. That to me is cool, not a joke. What might be cool to others is unfortunate and if that be the case then maybe the Dolphins are more to your liking where JLo is part owner.

When management makes a decision that we disagree with, we rip it. That's what we do, just because the McCaskey part of the Halas tradition keeps giving us ammo to rip, doesn't mean we don't respect Papa Bear or anything he did. Even if we had community ownership like GB, we would bitch about the moves the majority made that we didn't agree with.

But to bring up JLo...that's just low...Her music, not her, sucks balls and her acting pleases no-one. However, bringing her into ownership would be a morale boost for the O-Line, because FINALLY, the would collectively have more talent than her...LOL.

  12. Can i get some corner or safety blitzes, i'm tired of blitzing up the middle and nothing happens. Can I also get some more run plays, even if we don't get a first down at least we use 3 minutes of time possesion instead of using 50 seconds, AND punting, AND letting our defense rest for one minute, AND giving the opposing QB more time which equals more chance to put up points on our tired D. Also cutler does more bad than good.I always get chit for putting cutler down, but he is not right for the bears. I want a great defense that can rely on the offence to use up some clock, a QB that doesn't need to be the higest rated, just one that will not make many and big mistakes, a coach that will run the ball early and througout the game and a good speacial teams. I do not think we will ever win a super bowl with this cutler, unless he changes. TAKE WHAT THE DEFENSE GIVES YOU DAMMIT and change your count, the ball is ALWAYS hiked 1/2 second after his first "hut"

It's honestly not Cutler. Cutler is right for the Bears, Martz is not. He wasn't in Detroit, he wasn't in SF, and guess what...he's not here either. Martz calls the plays and Tice coaches the Line doesn't block. JA supplies all that wonderful crap for us on offense. You can't throw the ball if you're on your ass. It's true, I checked the rule book. I will give you the point of running more, but still, the line has to block.

It's mostly on Martz, IMHO. If you're 1st and 10 inside the 5, you should RUN THAT DAMN BALL. Don't empty the backfield so even the blind kid in the 500-level at the White Sox game knows we're going to pass. So you can sit there and "hut" your little heart out, but if you're backfield is empty, it's already telegraphed what you doing.

  13. No way Morongelo even attempts this.

What's the worse that can happen? He doesn't finish routes? Drops the ball? Doesn't get open?

Honestly, we have a shitload of cap space, we're not using it on O-Line or anything else. As Lith would say..."Let's kick the shyt out of these tires."

  14. They do both deserve the heat...

Our Secondary sits back and waits for the QB to make mistakes. Front four pressure is not an option, but a must for this system to work. It's easy for WR (at least on other teams) to get to open spots on the and even easier for QB who has all day to throw to find him.

Making the QB make hasty decision causes turnovers, but our front 4 ain't doing it the past 2 weeks.

  15. Guys, I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but I'm an official. I've personally talked to multiple NFL guys. Guys who have officiated Super Bowls. And one of the philosophies often spoke of is specifically related to this kind of call. More often than not it's referred to a "56 MPH Penalty." You don't pull over the speeder going 56 in a 55. You get the big ones. If your grandma can't see it from the stands, then it probably shouldn't be called. In other words, be absolutely certain that either A] The foul is safety related, or B] The foul provides one team with an advantage.

In this case, the foul was neither. It was a horrible call.

No offense, Jason, but I don't think it takes an official to tell it was a horrible call. The closest person to Knox was the punter and that block couldn't have been cleaner if it was showered with bleach.

Thank you though for breaking down like that. However, in the words of my wonderful catholic grandmother, "THAT CALL WAS HORSESHIT!!!"

  16. Of Forte's six attempts in the first half, just two went for positive gains. The others were losses of 1, 1, 4 and 1 yards

    We cannot run the ball

Not that it mattered but how many snaps did Bell take yesterday? I honestly can't remember any.
