I agree with you. There is no way he isn't a top 5 wideout in this market. If it weren't for the fact he's stuck in Buffalo, he'd be getting more love. Bowe and Jackson are both better and I suppose you could say Desean Jackson is as well, but outside of that, I can't see anyone else on the level of a Johnson.

Emery's resume from a talent finding perspective is pretty impressive.

Sorry guys. Tice is being real. If a great LT prospect would be there in the draft or FA, maybe the Bears would go that route. But the fact of the matter is that option doesn't exist and as a result, we will likely see another year of Webb. But I bet you see the Bears continue to work with him and add new wrinkles to the protection scheme to put him in the best position to be solid.

Someone is guilty by association? That argument is pretty pathetic. Ruskell can't and shouldn't be judged because someone you don't like brought him in. As far as I'm concerned, Angelo had this team in a superbowl and an NFC Championship game and put together and maintained a well above average defense for years. People spout about how shitty he was but that is pure crap. Was he the best, no? But there is a reason he kept his job as long as he did and no, I don't buy that the Bears are the worst run organization in the league or anything even close to that. Look at all of the teams that have consistently sucked. The Bears were nothing but competitive during Angelo's run. Some seasons better than others, but they were perennial playoff contenders and at times, were legit superbowl contenders. That is pretty freaking decent.

I'd take him over trading for Marshall, mainly because I think he's pretty good and would be considered a significant upgrade.

I still think the Bears will hire Clyde Christensen as the passing game coordinator. He is still under contract with the Colts (currently the OC) but my guess is he will be fired now that they've hired their head coach.

I'm an Iowa fan and I really like Marvin. He is a hard worker and a smart wide-out. He's physically strong and seems to be a good route runner. To me, he's the type of guy that I think a lot of people sleep on because he doesn't stand out from a physical standpoint, but all of his measureables are solid. Combine that with good route running and hands and I think you are talking about a guy you might be able to grab in the 2nd round that would make a nice impact.

I'm pretty sure Ruskell will still be here and will have say. I assume if the new GM didn't want him, he could get rid of him, but I'm under the assumption Emery is the guy and he's worked with Ruskell. I don't quite get why Ruskell or even Angelo are the devil. Both have pretty damn successful overall resumes in there career and had rather accomplishing careers. I realize the Bears fired Angelo but he had a pretty good track record here and his track record in Tampa was excellent.

He looks like he has a bright future. I was impressed with his overall athletism and he seemed to get better, which is to be expected, given his overall inexperience at the position.

All I know is when I hear Tice speak, I like what I hear. I really really really like what I hear.

It sounds like there is a chance we find out over the weekend. The only thing that might take more time is whether it is Licht, if the Bears will hold off officially announcing it until after the superbowl (since the Pats are still in it). Emery is a guy I can really get behind and I feel comfortable with him. I guess I can get behind Licht as well and his overall track record is impressive (he's worked in some of the best scouting/front offices in the league).

I think they are taking there time and making sure they get the GM in place. Either way, the assistant head coach title and more pay, is something pretty tough to beat. So I really am not at all surprised the Bears weren't able to hire him.

Jerome Simpson would be a nice pickup. I'm not proposing the Bears only add him, they must get one of the big names above, but I'm of the belief they should sign 2 wideouts.

The one candidate I'm not very interested in. The dude hasn't even had a seat in the Patriots warroom during the draft. (not that that is a bad thing because the Pats have struggled mightily in the draft the past few years; outside of there 2 TE's).

In his defense, it sounded like he was going to be a project when drafted. He supposedly had some good raw tools but bad mechanics that needed to be overhauled. Martz was supposedly the guy that was going to work on that project (with the help of his guy Pep), but with them out, things might change.

If you listened to McKenzie, the dude sounded like a complete idiot. I'm not saying speaking ability says everything but he made Jerry (who wasn't exactly the slickest talker) sound impressive.

I'm a little confused. I understand your argument but when you are making the argument that a broke down 39 year old TO is better than all of our wideouts, it seems pretty clear to me that the team drastically needs a legit wide-receiver. Note: I personally don't believe that TO is better than 3 of our wideouts at a minimum but thats just my opinion. There is a reason (outside of personality) that this guy wasn't picked up after his tryout (which was widely regarded around the league of being an absolute joke).

The Saints have done a very good job drafting wideouts and lineman but it is hard to say how good they have done drafting vs. how they have benefited from the Payton/Brees combo. There defense is pretty poor and they haven't excelled there. As a whole, I just have a hard time giving there personell guy as much credit as some of the other candidates out there.

I think Eddie Royal would be a really solid fit on this squad, especially if the Bears add in a #1. He's quick, good hands, solid route runner and comfortable with Jay. Put him with a #1 and Bennett (plus Knox and Hester) and I think that gives you 5 quality wide-outs who possess a multitude of skill-sets. It would also give Toub some intriguing options on special teams since Bennett, Royal, Knox, and Hester are all at least pretty solid returners (some being elite returners).

I'm in agreement with you. If you look at Hernandez he's the more talented guy, imo. Soft hands, great cuts and a better work ethic. I'd take either of them but if it weren't for Hernandez going down for a couple games early, he was the one who started off putting up the record breaking numbers. However, while I feel that way about Hernandez, it is hard to argue Gronk's production in the red zone.

I dont' know why but my two favorite candidates are the Chiefs guy and the Chargers guy. My only question on the Chargers guy is how involved was he in some of there poor pro-personell decisions. They've made some bad choices in who they have let go but at the same time, they have brought in a ton of talent and he was widely responsible for it. And the chiefs, for as mediocre as they have been recently, have done a great job of bringing in a lot of quality talent via the draft. I honestly believe he is the most likely candidate the Bears hire given his past experience with the club and that isn't necessarily a bad thing. He knows talent and would be a nice fit as a whole. The one guy I stay away from is the Pats guy. They have drafted pretty poorly in the past and while people talk about there 2 TE's and yes they are great players at there respected positions, but look at there defense and look at all the misses they have had in the draft. The only reason they have kept producing is because Brady is a rockstar at QB and there offense can outgun everyone. They have not done a good job the past few years in the personell department as a whole. In terms of the Giants guy. On one hand, I'm impressed with the amount of talent the Giants have brought in, however, I've also read some articles talking about Ross as being lazy and that concerns me. I want a guy that is not only smart but that will work his ass off to make the Bears better and if there is a question about his work ethic, I stay away. As a whole, I really feel the Bears have targeted some pretty impressive candidates and I have zero complaints with who they are looking at. I even have zero problem with the Bears keeping Ruskell in his current role because he has some nice experience and has had his own level of success (he's not a bad GM but he's not a good GM).

I realize our wideouts are not good but Terrel Owens is not good anymore. For anyone who watched the workout or listened to people with NFL experience, they all talked about how slow he was going and how hard of a time he was having. The dude is 39 and coming off a very serious injury and while he is one of the all time greats, he is not a good fit and it is an utter exageration to think he's better than every wideout on the roster. Earl Bennett is better and I'd probably make the case that Knox and Williams are too and I don't even like either of them. The Bears need to add talent at the wide receiver position but they need to do it via free agency and possibly the draft as well. I think that in the right system Hester could be fine and he's shown good strides as a pass catcher and if utilized property the Bears could see some success. Hell, I'm not even willing to write Knox off. The biggest problem with the Bears is the true lack of a #1 wideout. Add that and everyone looks significantly better and they all slide into positions where they are more likely to succeed. Bennett is a rock solid 3rd down target; Knox is a good downfield weapon; Hester has the shot to be a really nice slot wideout; The problem is right now we are looking at all of them as #1 and they clearly aren't that. It is why the team needs at least a #1 and possible another above average wideout. Note: For a long time I was with Jason in the support of a wideout like Owens. The guy was a stud and his lockerroom issues were widely exaggerated in my opinion. The dude is a good guy with no off the field history and is an all time great. Diva, absolutely, but the dude was one hell of a wide receiver.
