  1. Michael Bush is still out there, and Cutler and he have been texting back and forth. Wasn't that big of a fan a week ago when there were still other potential free agents available but now, everyone has pretty much signed with a team. Forte and Bush would be a pretty damn good combo of quickness and power. Basically an upgrade over Marion Barber. It would be more of a luxury than a need but if they're willing to spend some extra money, it might be worth it for a couple reasons.

1- Use him as leverage in case Forte decides to hold out during the season; meaning at worst, you atleast have Michael Bush, who proved to be one of the better running backs in football last year. Wouldn't be losing a whole lot.

2- Saves both Bush and Forte from having to carry the load over the course of a season. In this league, it is essential that you have atleast 2 solid runningbacks to get you through the season. After a while, using Forte as much as we have in the past will eventually catch up to him. He is a running back after all. These things tend to happen quicker than most positions in the league.

Bush had almost a 1,000 yards rushing and caught 37 balls out of the backfield for over 400 yards, and that was sharing carries and reps with McFadden for 6 games. He is probably one of the best complimentary backs in the NFL.

  2. The best out of division opponents for this year are SF, HOU, DAL, and TEN, and none of those are really scary teams. 11-12 wins seems fairly reasonable to me.

  4. They need to trade down and grab Tannehill or the next guy in line.... At least they have Reggie Bush.. ha!

lol Reggie Bush. Looks like they are trying to get Alex Smith, which to me is not an upgrade at all, especially for the reported $8 mil a year.

  6. Ha! I'm just glad I didn't profess my love for the Marshall idea at time since he carries so much baggage with him. Let's hope for the best...

lol, I was all on board:

5 straight seasons with 1,000 yards, yes please. The Bears have not had one in a decade (2002 Booker).

    So again, yes please!

  7. Saints signed OG Ben Grubbs, formerly of the Ravens, to a five-year, $36 million deal.

The deal includes a $10 million signing bonus, and $16 million "fully guaranteed." Grubbs provides the Saints a soft landing after they lost LG Carl Nicks to the Bucs, but at a surprisingly steep cost. Grubbs landed just $11.5 million less total money, and will average roughly $2 million less per season. Grubbs graded out as Pro Football Focus' sixth-best left guard in 2011, but Nicks was significantly better in both run and pass blocking. Nicks is also more than a year younger. The Ravens will likely now focus on signing free agent Evan Mathis to replace Grubbs.

  8. This is awesome, even better than getting VJack or Colston and only giving up 2x 3rd rounders? Wow! The Dolpins used 2x 2nd rounders to get him.

I just can't believe no other team offered more than that to pick up Marshall. Cutler has to be stoked.

  9. But you can't take the player out of the equation, that's the whole issue. They get a QB that presumably they think is a legit #1 guy. If he winds up being that, a multi-year pro-bowler at that position, that's worth multiple draft picks.

I think in the case of a draft pick you can. They are not trading for a known commodity like the Bears did with Cutler.

RGIII is awesome, and I love him as a player and hope he has a great career, but you can't mortgage that much of your future to get one guy. The way I see it, the draft is where you get value on your team with the new salary constraints for rookies. Basically Washington is doing that, but only at the QB position, and they were not just one player away from being a contender. Instead of having cheap talent, like Denver, they will have to find everything else thru FA, which you can only do so much with the cap.

That division is pretty brutal with NYG, DAL, and PHI to play 6 times a year.

They would've been better served to draft Tannehill at #6 (or even later for that matter) and keep their future picks to build around him.

  10. That's only really true though if Washington can't climb out of the top 10 in the draft. If Washington spends their cap space this year and then gets a solid performance from RGIII, you don't care as much about that in the 15th or 20th pick range.

Except when your first pick in the draft for the next two years is 47th-52nd.

I don't like the deal for Washington to give up that much for so long just to move up 4 spots. Take the player out of the equation, they are giving up 2 firsts and a second to move up 4 spots this year.

  11. 1. The Bears are going to make a serious push at Vincent Jackson. While you might be saying "wow, what a great source you have," it's believed to be a potential upset inside the Bears organization if he doesn't end up as a Bear. They're going to make every effort to have him wearing a Bears jersey next year.

    2. This isn't really anything new, but they probably won't be making a push for Mario Williams. Their goal is to add a former 3-4 OLB, like Kamerion Wimbley, as the DE opposite of Peppers, sign Jackson, and go after a veteran OL in FA. Wimbley made a little more than $9m last year, so look for his deal with the Bears (if he signs here) to be around $7.5m.

    3. Don't be surprised if the Bears still take a WR with the 19th pick, although it's possible that they still may go DE at 19, even if they sign Wimbley, because they are all well aware of Idonije's down year in 2011.

    4. Although reports came out today that said otherwise, people all over the league believe Peyton Manning will be going to the Redskins soon. However, with so many other teams in play for Manning, don't hold me to this one.

Again, I've been wrong before, but I enjoy sharing this stuff with you guys, so believe what you'd like and we'll see what happens soon.

    1. That would be awesome, VJack would immediately become one of the best WR's in franchise history

    2. That would be awesome, I like Wimbley and he would be a great compliment to Peppers

    3. I would like BPA at 19, OL, WR, CB, or DT

    4. Redskins seem like an odd destination for Manning. In the NFC, team is not that good, and he would play Eli twice a year.

This is what confuses me, says they get cap room but manning gets paid the same.?

Ok, his base salary was $10.75 for this year, that entire amount would have been a cap hit.

They reduce it to $1.75 million with $9 million as a bonus, still totalling the same amount paid to him.

    So $1.75 + $9 = $10.75, the same amount.

However, they can now apply the $9 million bonus over the remaining 4 years of the contract ($2.25million per year)

So this year's cap hit will be:

    $1.75 Base Salary (new amount)

    $2.25 Pro-rated Bonus ($9 million spread over 4 years)

    -------

    $4.00 Million Cap hit

So they started with a $10.75 million cap hit and reduced it to $4 million, saving $6.75 million in cap space for this year.
