  1. Credit to Trubisky for playing his best game of the season, though. He's played pretty well since returning as the starter, and I thought today was even better than last week. When he gets a running game and doesn't have to throw it downfield, he can be a pretty efficient quarterback. I thought the 1st half playcalling was really good, but I was frustrated in the 2nd half to see them only able to muster up 6 points in the 2nd half while they were blowing HOU out.
  2. Imagine if they won last week, what we'd be saying about this team? The way this season is going, they're going to win out and miss out with a 9-7 record. AZ only has 6 losses, and I think hold the tiebreaker against the Bears, which means they'd need to lose 2 of their next 3 to miss the post-season. They've got PHI, SF, and LAR remaining on their schedule.. In other words, not likely. Instead, they'll just freak up their draft position in typical Bears fashion and we'll get one more run it back year with Pace and Nagy, probably without Mitch.
  3. I would fire Ryan Pace right now and let the new GM decide Matt Nagy's fate. This doesn't seem to be a great year for HC candidates, and I also think the Bears would have a hard time competing for the top candidates against teams who either have a young QB or will be in better position to draft one. I want a new coach, but I wouldn't be totally against the idea of giving Nagy one more year with a GM who can identify offensive talent.
  4. Washington and SF winning would be good for the Bears. Washington has a brutal schedule down the stretch, but I think you'd rather have them win the division instead of the Giants, because I don't think the Giants would be in the market for a quarterback.
  5. They were 13th before today's game, not 15th. http://www.tankathon.com/nfl/mock_draft

    Fire Nagy

He and Pace are definitely getting fired now, right? What an embarrassing way to lose a game.
  7. As much as I think we're heading for 7-9 (the two wins coming against DET and JAX), it is not out of the realm of possibility that this team is 9-6 leading into the final game against GB. HOU just lost two of their better players to PED's (lol), and MIN still has Kirk Cousins and a terrible defense. GB might have their playoff seed locked in before we play them and rest some of their starters. Stranger things have happened.. I don't think it's likely, but we always knew the schedule towards the end of the year was going to be super light.
  8. http://www.tankathon.com/nfl Bears currently picking at 14 after yesterday's game. SF leapfrogging us is a good thing, because you know that's one team that absolutely wants to draft a quarterback in the 1st round if possible. New England is another team right behind us at 15 that would probably like to have a QB if one of the 4 main guys are available. The Jets, Jaguars, Redskins, and Broncos are 4 teams that you can bet your house on that will take a quarterback if any of the 4 are available, and teams like PHI, ATL, DET, and MIN, who are all ahead of the Bears in draft order, are possible sleeper teams that could target a quarterback. Needless to say, the Bears are going to have some steep competition to get one of those guys before some of these other teams do, and I think they're going to have to be inside the top 10 to do it. Given the schedule the rest of the way, I don't see them doing that. They'll get at least 1 win against JAX and probably another against DET. 7-9 seems to be the most likely scenario.
  9. As far as what to do with the team moving forward: For me, I'm all in on a full rebuild. They're not going to be bad enough to draft any of the top 4 quarterbacks in this draft, and they have an aging defense that's been trending downwards every year since 2018. If it were up to me, I'd look to recoup some of those lost draft picks from the Trubisky, Miller, Montgomery, Mack trades and start selling off some of their veterans like Mack, Hicks, Fuller, and maybe even Eddie Jackson. The only two players on defense that I would look to keep are Jaylon Johnson and Roquan Smith. I would then look to use those picks either to trade up for a quarterback, or, if not, use some of those extra picks to rebuild that OL, then draft a developmental guy in the 2nd or 3rd round and tank hard in 2021 to get a top 5 pick the following year when you can draft another quarterback high, and hopefully have a few young stud offensive lineman to build from.
  10. In an odd way, that was probably the best Trubisky has looked all year, and it still wasn't that good. He made 3 bad decisions, 2 that resulted in INT's, and one that should have been picked in the endzone that went through the DB's hands. He also should have had another TD if it weren't for Kmet and Robinson dropping 2 great throws on the opening drive. Overall, I thought he threw it with confidence, because I think he knows he doesn't have anything to lose anymore. I didn't see any hesitancy or panic in the pocket. He looked like a backup, which, at this point, is basically what I think Mitch's future as a quarterback is. He showed yesterday that he's good enough to stay in the league for a while, but not good enough to overcome his mental mistakes and physical limitations of throwing the deep ball.
  11. Sounding more and more like the beginning of the end.
  12. I can't fault Pace for going after Foles, because I pushed for the Bears to go after him in the off-season, but I completely underestimated just how bad Matt Nagy really was as a playcaller. I sort of bought into the idea that Mitch was mostly to blame for the offensive faults, but it's quite clear at this point that the problems run deeper than just at quarterback. Ryan Pace is now 0 for 3 in acquiring quarterbacks as the Bears GM. He gave big money to Mike Glennon, he traded a fortunate to move up to draft Trubisky, and then went out and traded for Nick Foles. He's used every available avenue possible to get a quarterback, and he's struck out all 3 times. Under no circumstances, should he be allowed a 4th chance at another quarterback.
  13. This is the most unwatchable offense the Bears have had since 2004. 2017 is close, but at least then they had a rookie quarterback worth watching. This isn't even football. I don't know what this is. All I know is that I'm completely done with Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy. It's time for a full on rebuild. They need to trade Hicks, Mack, and Fuller in the off-season and get back a couple of 1sts to go after one of the stud quarterbacks in the draft, as well as rebuilding this offensive line. This is the oldest defense in the league, and they've been trending down since 2018. Their window is closed. It's time to re-do this whole thing under a new GM and HC.
  14. Next week will determine whether this team even sniffs the playoffs this year. There are still some winnable games down the stretch. If they lose to MIN and GB, they would probably be better off playing for draft position.
  15. The Robert Quinn signing was a disaster. Mack's contract is not as bad for the value you're getting out of him, but his impact has trailed off a bit since 2018. He was bad last year, better this year, but still not quite the same. He's been dealing with nagging injuries all year, which may explain some of his inconsistency, but he's also approaching 30 and probably a year or two away from being an albatross. The Bears wasted his prime years.
  16. He was fools gold to me. In 2018 and 2019, I thought he looked poised to have a breakout year after watching what he did in pre-season and game 1 against the Packers. He'd always start off hot for a game or two, and then fade into oblivion without picking up another sack the rest of the way.
  17. I think it would be smart to move on from Mack at this point. This team is more than 1 or 2 players away from being a SB contender on offense, and by the time they find the quarterback that can get them there, a lot of their defensive players will be too old. Hicks, Mack, Quinn, Fuller maybe soon.. If they can get a early or mid 1st round pick for Mack this year, I'd think long and hard about it. I wouldn't do it for anything else, though.
  18. As previously stated, the season could very well be on the line in a couple of weeks against MIN. If they lose that game, along with the TEN game, they're done. Minnesota doesn't look like an easy win anymore as long as Dalvin Cook is healthy. The two positives I take away from tonight's game is that Darnell Mooney is going to be no worse than a good #3 WR, and also Dwayne Harris is infinitely better than Ted Ginn as a punt returner. I liked what I saw from him in this game. From this point forward, Mooney needs to be touching the ball at least 7-10 times a game. He's the one guy on this offense that can make plays with his feet, and so they need to start using him in more ways that can exploit a defense. Him blowing past defenders is becoming a weekly occurrence the last couple of weeks, and yet he's only managed to bring down 1 of those balls.

    Fire Nagy

Imagine how bad they're going to look next year without Allen Robinson. The icing on the cake would be if Mitch signs with another team and balls out.
  20. You might not be wrong, but Trubisky also faced probably 3 of the worst defenses in the NFL—certainly at least 2 defenses that are bottom 5, and I'm not sure where DET ranks, but it can't be that good. Foles came in and immediately faced the #1 and #2 defenses in football in back to back weeks, which didn't help his cause, but he struggled against a below average defense in CAR and played even worse against a good but not great defense in the Rams. It's crazy to me how the Bears scored 20 against the Bucs defense, and only scored 3 against the Rams. Makes no sense. As bad as Foles looked, I don't see any way Trubisky gets put back in there, barring injury. I think Nagy has seen enough to know Mitch isn't the answer doesn't want to go down the road again.
  21. Nagy thinks he is what McVay actually is. It was pretty obvious from watching the two offenses out there tonight, who is the better coached group. That quick tempo rushing to the line and snapping the ball at the goal line was a thing of beauty, and it's something you would never see from a Matt Nagy coached team. Everything the Rams do on offense, from a playcalling standpoint, makes sense, logically. He calls a game the way a pitcher and catcher set up a hitter with ball location. You'll see them stretch the edge of the defense out, and then run a playaction rollout on the backside when the D gets too aggressive. With Nagy, every play call is seemingly selected at random. They'll run the ball up the middle for 1-2 yards, then throw a deep out for an incompletion, and then run a play on 3rd down where the ball is thrown short of the sticks... If I had a nickel for everytime that happened throughout the course of a Bears football game, I'd be making some serious money from this offense. They are just a low IQ football team on offense, and I think it starts with the head coach. It's time to give up playcalling duties.
  22. The Bears are going to get their asses kicked in these next two games. This season has the potential to unravel if things don't get corrected before that Packers game. Ryan Pace still probably thinks we don't need help at NT or OL, which is why I can't wait until the day he is no longer Bears GM. So sick and tired of him.
  23. It's getting harder to make a case for Nick Foles remaining as the starter. He has been every bit as awful as Mitch was in his 2.5 games as the starter.
  24. I feel like only the Bears can be 5-1 and still make us think they suck. There's no doubt the defense is still pretty good, run defense notwithstanding, but this offense is abysmal, and it's getting worse! They went from looking like a vastly improved running team after the first 2 games, to looking like a team that couldn't reach 100 yards against a college defense. Nick Foles wasn't very good either, and had his worst throw of the year on that interception. I know he does things pre and post snap that Mitch doesn't, but in terms of productivity, there isn't much of a difference between the two of them. Seems like they're only good for 1-2 TD's and 1-2 INT's a game and less than 250 yards passing. This next stretch of 5 games are brutal. I'm not sure I see 2 wins on paper, and I think they need AT LEAST 2 to remain a serious contender.
