As I said when it happened, the Bears missed out on Mike McCoy. SD looks like the real deal. They had a good team last year and played Denver well. Bears got stuck with a CFL coach who is in way over his head. I started seeing those signs early last year with his clock management and decision making that cost the team a couple of games.

Miami's DB's completely dominated the Bears WR's. Total mismatch.

IMO, Emery is too stubborn to admit a mistake that quickly. Also, you have to keep in mind that a new coach means a new quarterback. Jay Cutler is all but guaranteed to be in Chicago for at least another year, and there's no way any HC wants to inherit him as the starter. Only way I could see it happening is if Emery decides to draft a QB in the 1st or 2nd round and you end up with a Russel Wilson/Matt Flyn scenario where the young guy wins the competition in camp and you'll just have Cutler ride bench and collect checks all year before being cut or traded the following season.

Trestman is not a head coach at the NFL level. That much is clear now. He's an OC. Doesn't have the knowledge or wherewithal to run a team in all phases. Unfortunately, it's going to take a monumental collapse from this team to get him fired, IMO. I'm not sure even a 5-11 year would do it. Might have to lose all but 1 more game this year. Knowing the Bears, they'll win 1 or 2 games at the end of the year to worsen their draft position, so instead of picking #5, they'll be like #12 or #13.

It's going to be chaos in Chicago in 3 weeks. If this team finishes 5-11 or worse, Emery may have no choice but to fire Trestman. I don't know if they are going to be that bad, but 3 losses in a row with no playoff hopes could do some damage, psychologically, to the team, and they might just give up.

A loss probably eliminates us from playoff competition. We are going to lose to New England and GB the next couple of weeks giving us 6 losses. Going to need a miracle.

Gotta love TV. Commercial during a challenge. No need for a replay, just go straight to a break..
-
LMAO. Right. Just like every grass surface is in the same condition as every other.
-
Whatever the outcome of this game, the Bears just don't look like a team that is competing for anything. There is no consistency. None. That starts with the quarterback.
-
I forgot to add the field blows. Worst in the NFL. It is not fair to professional athletes that they have to play on a Highschool surface.
-
Protection blows, play calling blows, Cutler blows, Ratliff is a beast. Summary of the game so far.
-
He is beyond awful. Glad he's back just in time to blow a coverage to allow an easy touchdown..
-
This win would have felt better if the Packers didn't luck out at the end against Miami. Rodgers fumbles the game away but the Dolphins don't recover.
-
I hate when Trestman goes into conservative mode. He's so annoying in these situations. Put your foot on their throats!
-
That's how it's supposed to look. Well done. Now don't blow the lead.

I'd like to know how many times this season the Bears have actually fielded a punt return that didn't end up being penalized. I bet you could count them on one hand.
-
If that blocked extra point decides the game.. I swear it's like the special teams is purposely trolling us. Can't even enjoy a TD drive without something bad happening.
-
It would be nice if the quarterback whisperer could dial up a TD drive here against an awful Atlanta Falcons defense.
-
They blew a 1st and 29 and gave up a touchdown. LOL
-
It's not a Bears game without Conte getting hurt. Just retire already.
-
Marc Trestman is a freakin idiot. Unbelievably idiotic clock management..AGAIN!!!!!!!
-
Is there any doubt Hester will score at least 1 TD against us? You just know they will try to feature him early in the offense to get him touches, and of course in the return game. I would be completely shocked if he didn't come out of the game with at least 1 TD. I think the Bears get blown out in this game, so it probably shouldn't be that hard.
-
Lol, he caught himself mid sentence, too. It was hilarious. "Brandon ran the wron.." The Bears are terrified of Marshall, according to the 670 guys. I didn't buy into it much at first, but it's starting to look that way when you listen to Trestman. They are afraid of saying no to him because he's a headcase. Looks like their approach is to just be extremely passive with him as to not give things a chance to spiral out of control. That should work for a while, but the more they lose, the worse it's going to get.
-
Why didn't Denver keep him? Wasn't he really freaking good the last two years? I seem to remember him always breaking off big returns.

Lawrence Holmes wrote a great article today discussing the Bears game against Carolina. He also brought up an interesting quote from a former NFL exec that I thought was profound. The exec said about Cutler, he's always leery of quarterbacks who had to do everything for their college teams because they develop bad habits. Simple, yet so true. I had never had that thought cross my mind before, but it makes complete sense when you think about the kind of pressure that was put on Cutler at Vanderbilt. He was the SEC offensive player of the year coming out of the draft, which says a lot for Vanderbilt. I believe they also had a losing record that year, which tells you just how difficult it must have been for Cutler to even win that award despite the team not being all that talented. There were some other things in his article that were spot on, but that quote was the one that stood out to me the most. It's making me reconsider certain quarterbacks coming into the draft that I might have otherwise liked. Johnny Manziel, for instance, comes to mind right away.
