  1. Teague is not the guy we should be thinking about as the guy taking over for Monty. A Abnar is not getting the love he should be here. The more I watch of him the more I love. Dude is dynamic.

I'll never get the Monty hate, from anyone either.

  2. Just add Brown or Fisher....hope a better OG gets cut.... and add back Larry O and I'll be happy.

Idk what to think of Borum or any of the lineman they brought in as a guard, so I prefer they bring in an at least somewhat accomplished vet to compete there.

One problem:  To open up the underneath routes you need deeper routes that take time.  That requires good blocking up front.

Feels a little like how KC built their WR corps.  No X, just get a group of WRs with speed and RAC ability.  Of course they had one of the best in Hill who opened up a lot for everyone else.  Of course they replaced him with Skyy Moore.

There is one other possibility and that is Getsy like Eq St. Brown more than anyone else.  I doubt that is true and I expect nothing from St. Brown except his ability to free up a roster spot for someone who can play.

I'd be really upset if they didn't add Brown or Fisher. That's what I've wanted them to do all along as I preferred they have a veteran you know is good at left tackle vs a 2nd or later round rookie that may or may not be good.

Adding one of those guys along to the addition of Patrick who upgraded what was the weakest spot of the OL last year, is gonna help give WRs more time down field.  Gotta get a guard....somewhere. Though I wouldn't hate to see Borum there, ya gotta give him some competition.

This is very much like the KC offense and I don't think thats necessarily a bad thing. Obviously it worked there.

  4. Nah, the comp for Jones is pretty easy to me.....Mecole Hardman.

Hardman was an electric returner who was looked at as a 3rd-4th rounder and KC took him in the 2nd round. 4.33 speed for Hardman vs. 4.31 for Jones. Both very raw as receivers.

Now they have Pringle and their version of Hardman. I don't think Mooney will ever be Hill, but I absolutely expect him to take another step after working out with Fields in the off-season. Hopefully the same can be said for Kmet who was also working with Fields.

Gotta grab a LT to give these boys time to work.

  5. Poles and Flus did talk about wanting speed and they sure do have it with Velus. This is gonna really open up the underneath for guys like Kmet and Montgomery in the passing game.

  6. Can't knock em for going BPA at positions of need.

I'm hoping they go OG in the 3rd and then sign a LT. Having a strong OL is just as important, if not more important than adding weapons.

  7. I was unaware of this, but apparently Fields and Pickens have known each other since high school. With Pickens having a questionable character issues, I think I might be a little more comfortable knowing that him and his QB are already acquainted.

8 players are available on Day2 that I would consider at both the Bears picks and with the QBs still on the board trade possibilities also exist to gain draft capitol.

    Kyler Gordon

    Nakobe Dean

    Andrew Booth

    Roger McCreary

     Bernhard Raimann

    Jalen Pitre

    Christian Watson

    Perrion Winfrey

    No love for Logan Hall?

  9. One guy who has fallen under my radar all together is Josh Pashal. He's a little undersized weight wise, but I love everything I've read about him. He's got longgg 35"+ arms and big time burst. Listed as a DE/Edge, but he has played inside and looked really good inside.

I always had a different vibe about Pickens because of Wims and Ridley.  Guess my vibe may have been accurate.

Ironically Pickens also threw a punch in a game as well, along with quite a few other things apparently.

  11. George Pickens is apparently a real piece of trash. Was listening to someone on the radio yesterday and they said they talked to numerous front office guys who said his character has taken him off their board completely.

Guy obviously has 1st round talent. It'll be interesting to see if the Bears grab him if he's there at 39.

  12. I hate to give up picks, but Robby Anderson is said to be out there and could be had for a day 3 pick. If he could be had for a 5th would you do it? This would allow our day 2 picks to be shifted to OL/DL/CB.

  13. IISpoke about NPF in the other thread, but there's another name that no one on this board is talking about that is gaining some steam with the bears and thats Abraham Lucus.

I really wish I knew why he was playing on right tackle instead of left tackle. I haven't heard anyone at all talk about if they think he can play on the Left side either which kinda scares me. That said he's got all the traits Poles has talked about in an offensive lineman.  He's got the nasty mean streak and he's lean and athletic.

I read an article that said a lot of experts are predicted him to the Bears and I'm just not sure on the fit. Jenkins has played some guard in college and he wasn't a Poles pick, so maybe they can try him inside with Lucas at tackle. Then you bring in a vet for LT.

I listened to a podcast with Matt Bowen. I have always found him to be insightful. He talked about Logan Hall as a target and perfect fit for the bears. Also liked Pierce and Tolbert for WRs. He said you need a boundary WR that can be physical enough to get you first downs. Pierce also has the speed to go deep. Said players like Sky Moore doesn't fit what the bears need. Possibly Bell as consolation if you miss speed guys. The talk with Logan Hall may put him in the first round but if at 39, you have to take. Also said need a OL early to fix this line.

So I have already had to change.

    39. Logan Hall/DT

    48. Cole Strange/OG. Strange is valued as a late second early 3.

    71. Alex Pierce, if Pierce is gone Jalen Tolbert. Get a speed guy in the 5th, Grey, Thornton, or Melton.

Hall has been my guy pretty much throughout the whole process. Eberflus had a big ol 6'8" monster in Deforest Buckner as his 3T in Indy, Hall brings some of that same size at 6'6" with a ton of athleticism.

Hall, despite what some mock draft simulators will tell you, is definitely getting some 1st round consideration.  Here's an article about a few potential surprises in the 1st round...

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nfl.com/_amp/2022-nfl-draft-lewis-cine-logan-hall-among-seven-potential-surprise-first-rounde

Hall is there, and another interesting name got thrown out there that no one has talked about early.... Fields old blindside protector, Nicholas Petit-Frere.....NPF has intrigued me a bit. He sounds like he's a high floor low ceiling guy and that's why he's not really more highly thought of. I still very much just want Brown or Fisher but I could live with NPF if he's there with their 2nd pick.

I can dig it. Go grab Duane Brown or Eric Fisher to play LT and grab one of the few OGs on the market as well and the offense should be super solid.

My first Mock had us taking:                                                                                                         Now I'm thinking:

    39. Perrion Winfrey DT Oklahoma                                                                                                Tyler Smith OT Tulsa watched him on tape and think he has the nasty Poles is looking for.

    48. Christian Watson WR North Dakota State                                                                             Christian Watson North Dakota State I still like his upside

71.George Pickens WR Georgia                                                                                                     George Pickens WR Georgia  I think he will be fully recovered from his injury

    148. Thayer Mumford OG Ohio State                                                                                             Thayer Mumford OG Ohio State we currently have Sam Mustipher lined up at ROG

    150. Matt Hankins CB Iowa                                                                                                              Matt Hankins CB Iowa Would loved to have picked a CB earlier but, I still like this choice here.

    186. Rasheed Walker OT Penn State                                                                                              Rasheed Walker OT Penn State A staple of this franchise has been a late round OT pick.

I'm lacking a 3 tech in this mock and I'm still believing they are looking to add some one.

Unfortunately there's a good chance all 3 of your first 3 picks MIGHT go in the 1st.

I'd be surprised if Watson and/or Pickens are there at 39 let alone 48/71.

I still just don't know what to think about Smith. I'd be fine with the pick but he's got the potential to really frustrate.

A little love for Logan Hall who I sometimes feel a little yucky about taking at 39 because he always seems so reachy with more players ahead of him. I really like Hall a lot and I think he's gonna be really really talented.  I could def see him go in the 1st and would be really happy with him at 39.

Danny Gray is now a guy I have my eye on as well. If they can get him in the 5th I'd be really happy. While I don't necessarily think the bears need to draft 2 WR, a guy like Gray who could be a return man early and maybe develop into a weapon in the pass game is intriguing.

  18. I like the Moore signing, he's shown ability to be a guy in the league. Add a WR in the draft and I think you're pretty well set with the WR room.. Davenport is hopefully nothing more than a backup to the backup. He got a start last year for the colts when Fisher went down and was awful. Other guy is meh too.

I hope Lynch does as I suspect he will, and demand a huge compensation package in trade. If the Packers had to give up, let's say, a first and a third round pick in this years draft in addition to having to deal with Deebo's salary demands, I can't believe they go for the trade.

On second thought, it would be such a dumb move on GB's part, I hope the 49ers hose the Pack. ;-)

Considering they got a 1st and a 2nd for Davonte,  giving up a 1st and a 3rd for Deebo would be a win overall.

  20. Moore is mildly interesting. He had a couple decent years in Seattle. 13 TDs over 3 years is not too shabby. I'd bring him in to compete for the 5/6 spot.

I assume we carry 5/6 and draft 1. St. Brown probably has a spot.

    1. Mooney

    2. Pringle

    3. Draft pick

    4. St. Brown

    5. Moore/Dazz/late rounder/Coulter

  21. It may be worth noting that Poles comes from KC where Pringle at 6'1" was their tallest WR. If they do decide to go WR early and they have someone like Skyy Moore rates higher than the taller guys, they should grab him.

As someone who is beating the drum for Mooney/Pringle, my hopes for the draft is they already have a deal in place for Brown/Fisher, so they go DL and OG in round 2 then in round 3 you take the best WR available......at the very least that should be a guy like Tyquan Thornton.

I don't think either Raimann or Smith are ready to start at LT as a rookie.  For Raimann we have to keep this in mind and that's based on a lot of NFL history or data points if you prefer.   I'm not saying he'll never develop into that technician like Slater but there is nothing I've read about his game that says he has those skills today.

     https://trenchwarfare.substack.com/p/ol-scouting-notebook-2022-nfl-combine?s=r

    • Central Michigan T Bernhard Raimann - Raimann’s arm length came in at 33 inches at the Senior Bowl and 32 7/8 at the Combine. Left tackle Rashawn Slater measured in at 33 inches at the Combine last year and was a Second Team All-Pro as a rookie in 2021, but Slater is also an exceptional case and an absolute technician. The reality is that having 33 inch arms and under at tackle is a rarity and an obstacle to overcome rather than an asset for Raimann.

Smith has poor technique and simply being the bully on the field can work against lesser competition like he faced at Tulsa but it will get him beat often in the NFL.  He at least has the physical tools to develop into a LT but IMO he's best served starting out on the interior until he gets his technique down, or he's going to ride the bench for a year while he learns.  We have too many holes to fill to park one of our top 3 players on the bench for a year.  If we don't feel they can play inside then I'd pick someone for any other position with a higher floor.

IMO if the team feels either can play well inside then go ahead and draft them, we need help inside.  We can survive with Borom and Jenkins as our OTs and there is still the option of a FA LT as a stopgap.  If they develop into LT then we take it off our list next year.  I just don't think I'm prepared to bank on that in 2022.

I agree 100% and that's why I still very much want Brown or Fisher.

This year is supposed to be all about Fields. You can add all the wide receivers you want, but if you plan to throw out an unfinished rookie prospect at LT, he's gonna have issues.
