  1. I think they have:

LT- I think it'd be smart to go with Brown or Fisher here.

RG- Finding a starting OG in the draft should be feasible.

3T- The free agent crop sucks unless they bring back Larry O. I'd look to draft one.

#2 CB- A ton still out there in free agency. Rhodes and Desir have experience with Flus.

S- Free agency has a handful. Dane might already be that guy though.

    X WR- Draft

OLB- Attouchu? Or however you spell his name might be that guy.

3T, OG, and WR are the 3 I'd be looking for.

  2. I've spent a lot of time hyping up Byron Pringle this off-season,  but Mooney needs some love too.

What makes a #1 WR in the NFL? How many are there? Last year Mooney was 15th in receiving yards among wide receivers(17th overall). He also was 6th in the league in creating separation.

Mooneys best ability, imo, is his ability to get down field and create separation.  With the OL being pretty blah last year I don't think we were able to utilize that ability all that well.

Fields and Mooney have been working out together all off-season, and with an improved offensive line, giving him the ability to work down the field more, I could see Mooney having just a monster year.

In one day this negative vibe that  clouds the Bears could change with a Duane Brown signing, Xaiver Rhodes, Tajae Sharpe.

There really is a lot that can be done right now to make this roster really competitive.

If they do really well in the draft and bring in some key free agents this team is just a few bad picks from green Bay away from winning the north....that's right I said it.

  4. Still a lot of money to play with too. Brown and Rhodes are musts to me. I may even throw Desir in there as a bargain buy and to really fill out the secondary.

I would have liked Trettor but it seems the Bears really like Patrick at center.

I can see the Bears using a 5th on TE or a gadget RB/WR to replace Grant/Cohen.   Bo Melton maybe?

It's possible.  Getsy has never called plays so idk how much stock I should put into looking at the packers offense the past few years, but they didn't appear to have any gadget type players.

In 2020 the Pack had the number 1 offense in the league. They got 90 catches out of their RBs, 76 out of their TEs(52 from their #1), 33 a piece from their #2 and #3 and then the rest from Adams.

That's a very good comparison with Lockett. Tyler is a bit faster. When they do the advance metrics, Pringle actually was second in the league last year in route separation which means he gets open. As much as Mooney has worked hard to be good, I can see Pringle the leader in receptions this year.

His 40 time is a bit faster, but Pringle actually had a better 3 cone drill than Lockett which tells me he's good with change of direction and that helps with getting open.

I still really like Mooney as well, and he's been training with Fields all off-season and thats only gonna help.

Bears have brought in a few later round WRs for visits....I would not be the least bit upset if they wait till day 3 to get a WR.

I expect Kmet and Monty to have a high volume of catches as well.

Well Watson, and Pierce are big and faster, so why not have both. I think Pringle is going to be very good. You add a big X WR and  our passing game will look totally different. If we just had a average OC last year , everything would have been better.

Mooney- Pringle-St Brown, Kmet and Montgomery out of the backfield plus a couple rookies, this will be some good Sun afternoon fun.

I just felt the need to point that out. Pringle averaged 24.1 YPC at Kansas State. He was a bad kid and had some troubles with the law in his youth and I think thats why he went undrafted. Going to KC where Hill and Kelce dominated the targets as future hall of famers really limited what I think he can do for the bears.

I think he's got the potential to be just as good as another K State WR....Tyler Lockett.

Moore and Pringle can also play outside. Its never going to be a certain set, all of them will see a lot of playing time. Almost everywhere, Moore is higher rated than Pierce, but  Pierce is the big speed guy this team needs. If Seattle trades DJ, it won't accept our #2, even other don't get it done.

"Big" is the word to use here as the bears have speed. Pringle may have a 4.43 on record but he plays a lot faster than that. I read an article where he was clocked in at a top speed of 21.14 MPH last year which is right up there with the top guys in the league.

He has to get good value too.  Other teams know he wants more picks so he'll get some low-ball offers.  Just say no.  I'm less concerned about getting more picks than I am with getting at least 2 and potentially 3 good core starters.  I not convinced trading back for 4 picks in the top 100 makes that more likely than having 3 in the top 75.   It is easy to fill out depth via FA any given year.

Like Adam said, there is a sweet spot in the 30-50 range and I think thats gonna make trading down enticing. If we're talking moving down 5ish spots for another top 100, I think you do it.

  10. Bears have a ton of speed in Mooney and Pringle. I think both are getting underrated here. I think Mooney, especially with the work he and Fields are putting in together this off-season, has #1 potential.  Pringle can be an absolute stud as well. His analytical numbers are really, really good.

I am really hoping for at least one trade back and the ability to pick up at least a 4th or potentially another 3rd. The sweet spot of this draft seems to be between 30 and 80.

Our 39th pick is super interesting. Seattle has the next two picks, so there is a good chance they will pick someone that is #1 on the board for a few other teams. I could see teams wanting to leapfrog them to ensure they get their guy.

So hypothetically, would you select Jalen Pitre, CB from Baylor at #39 or would you trade back with someone like ATL (has 2x 2nds and 2x 3rds), CLE (has 2x 3rds) or PHI (has 2x 3rds, 3x 5ths) for their 2nd and a 3rd or 4th?

To me, unless a top WR or OL falls, I am looking to trade back.

This is a no brainer if they can find the match. Soooo many different  picks that make sense in the 2nd.

  12. 1 hour ago, Lucky Luciano said:

i will agree on the OL being the primary pick along with ONE wr who could be had in the 3rd if necessary. i don't believe two 2nd day receivers is going to help fields out as much as another position will, whether it's protecting him or giving the offense more time on the field. fields best friend should be monty and a great running game along with pass protection at least for this season until he begins to evolve.

Well said and I completely agree. Pringle is an ascending player and should be given every shot to be at the very least the number 3 guy. Because he's not a household name yet I think he's being incredibly underrated and very well could be the number 2 guy and have a better year than any rookie brought in.

Honestly I would not even be upset if they waited and grabbed a WR on day 3.

Address the OL first and foremost. I'd really like that to be done in free agency, but if they wanna get young, fine.

  13. Man, PFN seems to be incredibly unrealistic. I would love if the draft shakes out like that. I'd pick Salyer in the 3rd. Maybe even the 2nd. I think he becomes the best guard in this class.

The Moore and Rainmann picks are out there too.

  14. I love Tyler Smiths physicality,  but the guy lead all of college in holding calls and there's probably a lot more that didn't get called looking at his tape. He wins a lot by holding and being TOO physical. He also doesn't have the best kick back which is gonna get him in trouble and cause him to reach for those holds.

There's a lot to like, and he fits the mold of what Poles wants, but I just don't know about him surviving on the edge against good pass rushers.

Getting a true LT and a 1WR is imperative for Fields' development.  If you gotta draft multiples to get there, take multiples.

Ehhh, with so few picks and so many holes idk if I like that. Trust your scouting.

This team is probably gonna be picking in the top 10 next year. I'd try and grab Brown or Fisher on a 1 year deal then get your franchise LT next year.

I just don't see anyone that's gonna be available worth a pick to play at LT.

  16. Man, it's crazy looking at the packers stats the past few years. Adams just absolutely dominated their passing game. Their #2WR hasn't caught more than 35 balls the last 3 years.

They use their RBs more than their #2 guys.

Mooney will never be Adams so I don't think they can get by like the packers have but man.

  17. Just read an article that said the Packers used a 4 WR set just 22 times in the last 3 years. Idk if that's something we're gonna see a lot of with Getsy here. Especially with Kmet emerging.

I could be way off base with this thought, but Poles said he needed playmakers and a better OL for Fields to get better. Patrick is an upgrade over Mustifer and Pringle will be a good player but he's not close to working that out. I think he will load up on OL and WRs in the draft , maybe a TE. He may get lucky and find a Mooney in the 5th but the first 3 picks will be offense. Yes we need CBs, Ss, DL and LBers but his main pickups in FA  have been on defense. I think he will fill spots with FAs on defense and top heavy on offense. I don't think he will risk later round picks to improve the offense. The first 3 will be offense, not sure why people keep thinking he's going to address the defense early.

I can see him getting a Rainman/OT if he makes it to our pick or a Tyler Smith with the first pick, then probably 2 WRs with 48 and 71. He will try to move back with one or two of those picks so he can get extra picks to then add defensive players. I can see 2 WRs and 2 OL being drafted and maybe a TE.

I definitely don't think they go with 2 WRs at 48 and 71. Or at least I don't think they should. I want someone who is gonna produce right away with both those picks.

They think Jones is their 3T, where they draft one will speak a lot as to their faith in him. They left the door open for  Ogunjobi to come back as a possible one yr deal giving him time to let the foot heal. Being he hasn't  been signed by anyone states he's not healed yet. So a small chance he may be back. As much as I understand the BPA  type pick and that  DT is very important in the 4-3 but a defensive player early is not going to make the defense great . So I think Offense will be drafted early and often. How is Fields going to grow unless you give him playmakers and better OL. I think the first  3 are all offensive picks.

I guess we shall see. I really want them to bring in Brown or Fisher. Like realllly want them to. I don't trust any of the LT prospects to protect Fields blindside. That then pushes the need on offense to just OG and WR. I'm bigger on Pringle than most so I'm more than willing to wait till the 3rd to get that WR.

I think unless we get a DT in the second round, I doubt he would start day one . We signed Justin Jones to a two year contract so they expect him to be the starter. I think the first two picks  will be OL and WR. At 71  DeMarvin Leaf  could still be there but doubt he would be anything more than a rotation player in his first year. May eventually be good but not day one. Somewhere there may be drafted a Blair Nichols or Akim Hicks but there usually  are not dynamic as a rookie. The top 4 are Davis, Wyatt, Winfrey and Travis Jones, they are ranked in the top 50 , don't think they make it to pick 48. Mathis and Leaf are next. They both may make it to 71. If Wyatt or Winfrey are there at 39, I still think we draft a Tyler Smith or George Pickens before them. One I like that is a DE that can play inside is Logan Hall who could be there at 71. I actually think he would be good enough to eventually be the starter but I think any of them need a yr of physical development at the NFL level before they shine.

Remember we are running a 4-3 now. I don't really see Jones as a 3 technique.  He had just 18 pressures last year whereas Larry O had over 50. I understand that this year is gonna be mostly about developing Fields but part of that should be putting a competitive defensive out there too so he isn't constantly having to play from a big hole.

I like Logan Hall a lot. He's been my pick in most of my mocks the past few weeks. He's got a lot of the the length that Buckner has.

In my ideal world they go DL, OG, then WR in that order....if the board shakes out right.

Lately we have had O'shaughnessy visit, DeAndre Carter/WR ( signed elsewhere), Anthony Hichens/LB. I think they make a push to add a few more FAs before the draft in a couple of weeks. I don't think they want to be position dependent when they go to draft. I suspect we can get 3 starters out of the draft, if lucky 4. WR, OL, SAM LB, CB, and SS.If we draft a DE or DT early, they will only end up being Rotational players. A high CB or SS could start. Possibly mid round LB. Ideally WR, OG, SS, SAM LB. CB would probably need most of the season before occupying a starter role. I think he brings in a Xaiver Rhodes type of FA that will start. I think if we trade back and get an extra 3rd that could grab a Nick Cross /SS.

Define rotational players when it comes to DT.

While technically true, a DT isn't gonna play every snap, there are still "Starters." Last year Deforest Buckner played 77% of the snaps for Eberflus.  I don't think the Bears have a guy I'd want out there 77% of the time.

DT is very much a day 2 need IMO....unless they bring Larry O back and he's healthy.

I totally think we should have multiple picks at OL and WR. Load up and fix other spots next year. Finish the defense with cheap free agents.

I'd still very much like them to grab Duane Brown so we can make sure left tackle is solidified. I'm not crazy about any of the 2nd round LTs.

I also really think they should grab a 3T fairly early because there just isn't anyone on the free agent market worth a damn there.

I do think it is important that the defense doesn't totally suck so Fields isn't constantly playing from behind and defenses can just put constant pressure on him because he's forced to pass a ton.
