Kyle Long restructured deal to stay a Bear!

No reason to spend draft capital on a G this season.  If we need a backup, keep Witzman.  Glad he did this and freed up money.

Glad to see this get done, I think he can have a return to form season, he'll have a full offseason where he's not coming off an injury or surgeries.  He's one of those good guys who are easy to root for.  Here's to a healthy season that should help our run game.

I'm glad we got this done too.  It was one of the contract changes I was hoping to see happen.  We still don't know details but just converting some salary to guaranteed money will lower his cap hit.   Biggs reported it as a pay cut so maybe there is a lower annual salary in there in exchange for the bigger guarantee.  Next up should be Whitehair's extension.

I was not in the camp of cutting Long.  Maybe next year if he had another injury plagued season but this is his first offseason with no surgeries where he can get back to working on his craft.  I think he's got a lot left in the tank.

This is all good for saving money but it doesn't address the fact he has been injured for 3 years straight. We need to add a potential starter caliber to back him up and possibly be a swing OT also. A few of them in the draft.

Agreed. He is a strong presence on the team.

As part of Kyle Long’s restructured, Chicago created $2.9M in cap space, per source. Long agreed to drop his base salary to $2.5M with bonuses/incentives bringing his cap hit to $5.6M for 2019

That almost covers the cap hit from Parkey.

Peace

LMAO...

Pace: "Kyle we need your help.  We want to get a new kicker."

Kyle:  "Where do I sign?"

I hope Long has a healthy year,  makes our OL top 5 for year. Daniels takes giant step forward.
