Last year the home run would have been Jim Harbaugh but Warren had a problem with him in the Big 10.

So we got Flus back. 

To me, Johnson seems like a Mcvay or Shanahan type of hire. Did destiny have us go thru a reset year to get us to the right Coach and drafted QB? Had we had a winning season, Flus could still be here.

I'm going with the Bears God lined the Stars for this union to take place. Instead of talking about winning seasons, I think we are going to be talking about how many SBs did we win 10 years from now.

Time will tell, but if Poles fired Eberflus last season, we wouldn't be here today with Ben Johnson.  Eberflus had the Bears showing promise late last season and they thought firing Getsy and hiring Waldron would be the answer.  Waldron help ressurect Geno Smiths career and I think he was hired to do the same for Justin Fields, who wasn't traded until March during St Paddy's weekend. The Bears haven't done draft evaluations yet, and there was a lot of garbage out on Caleb that needed cleared.  If the Bears came through with this plan, maybe winning 7 to 9 games, we might be sitting here with the Fluster today.  The collapse was a blessing as painful it was putting the Bears shirt on Sunday morning and ripping it off at night.

Had he fired Flus a year ago who would have been the HC? I'm saying Johnson is heads above a last year hire.

It should have been Jim Harbaugh.  And it absolutely could have been.  I'll take a proven top five coach over Ben Johnson any day.

I'm happy we ended up with Johnson, but he is far from a sure thing.  Harbaugh was the sure thing and leadership didn't want him...

My post was just reinforcing that keeping Flus might just be a blessing like you said.  As Mongo mentioned, it had to be Harbaugh or nothing.  What's with the pattern we are in.   Keep Fields as QB1 over drafting CJ Stroud or Bryce Young then taking Caleb.   Keep Flus over Harbaugh, then hiring Ben Johnson. 

We will find out in one or two years if Poles has his calculations right or not.  

The latest rumor i just heard was the Bears are enamered by Will Johnson/CB and will trade up in the draft to get him.

Also consider the timing for Dennis Allen and Al Harris. Allen was a HC and Harris was on the DAL staff. So we got Johnson, Allen, and Harris this year.

Johnson is 38, so I am praying he is finally going to be our "franchise coach" like Tomlin, Reid, Harbaugh that we have in place for 10+ years. We are due.

I get the impression he is Mcvay and Shanahan type of coach. Hope I'm right.
