The Bears first 2 rounds

Not a bad haul. I was 0-4 on the picks though lol.

Colston Loveland, TE
Luther Burden, WR
Ozzy Trapilo, OT
Shemar Turner, DT

An offense of Williams, Swift, Moore, Odunze, Burden, Kmet, Loveland is kind of insane. Kmet may end up as the Bears 5th pass catching option. I think Tyler Scott is a cut candidate, same with Pickens now that they drafted Turner.

The trade down helped out a lot, the Bears got their guys and their 4th rounder back where they can go RB or S, I would assume.

Just goes to show you pundits don't have any clue what teams want to do. I listened to a lot of live podcasts today and it's amazing how many have big egos.

Hoge was talking about a couple picks and made statements like so and so was on the board and they should have took him instead ( I had him rated higher). They think they're smarter than a scout department.

Two thinks I thought they would do in the draft was build the trenches and get us a weapon. Come to find out weapons were higher on the list. Loveland was highly rated so that was understood but Luther was totally unexpected. He was rated a first round pick by some. They may just have picked BPA at that point.

I expected them to trade back. They grabbed a LT and DL. Reading about Turner, he played 2yrs outside before putting on 20 lbs to move inside. I think DA sees him as being able to play both giving him flexibility.

Now we have an extra 4th round pick. 109+148. I think that will be a DE and RB.  Jack Sawyer or Bradeyn Swinson for DE.

Cam Skattebo or Damien Martinez would work as RBs for me. They looked at Brashard Smith and jaylon Blue also.

It's SO true. No one knows anything, so you may as well watch tape and just go with what you see.

It's not that they're stupid. I think it's that they take in too MUCH information, and try to fit it all in - rumors, narratives.

For example, Campbell's arms are too short. And the guy goes 4th overall.

And we all know a lot of these guys will bust too.

So for example, I predict Membou wont be great. He may be serviceable for a while, but I think Banks will have the better career. Obviously it's gonna take a few years to see. But this is my feeling based off of tape. I dont know their 40 times. I look at that for skill players sure, but not OL etc.

But what we CAN say now, is just because so and so said something doesn't mean anything. Teams value players very differently from each other anyway so even if a pundit is "right" in terms of seeing the world the way the Bears do, they may have no ability to see the world the way the Saints do.

And i think that all means that if someone watches some tape, their opinion isnt stupid or wrong just because some pundit sees things differently :)

I guess we’ll see if they actually address it, but it sure seems like they played the RB position right. Who knows if they wanted Henderson, but after him there were only two RBs drafted (Kaleb Johnson and RJ Harvey), so with that high fourth round pick they pretty much have there pick of most of the same guys that would have been there in the 3rd.

Given the Bears’ lack of success, maybe the pundits like Hoge actually might be smarter.

Bingo. The only person/people who know anything are those with proven track records. For instance, who is picking for the Steelers? They’re perpetually good. Maybe not great every year, but very good.

And that’s why I continually discount the Bears’ front office, and the fans who blindly support. They’ve failed for decades. Prove me wrong for more than a single year, then I’ll stop criticism. Until then, the picks that seem to not make sense, or go against what the team clearly needs, will always be met with skepticism.

Certainly over the past decades, this has been correct for our Bears. Hopefully with a real coach and staff, this changes. It's not the building that's cursed, it's just been previously inhabited by incompetents. There is reason to hope that this will be different.

But you left room for that in your comment. You said prove it for a couple years. That's fair, because all the flowery words mean nothing, until you see it on the field.

I would have preferred more invested in the trenches, but they heavily invested there in free agency.  Going forward, they should be able to use draft picks better, buy it is the Bears.
