May 26May 26 comment_234530 If you play in Indiana, but live in Chicago, I wonder what the tax ramifications would be.On the surface it would seem like since they have to pay state tax to the states their away games are in, that theyd pay Indiana tax. But some of these cities, like NYC can want their taste if you reside there as your main residence. What a freakin mess, and I will leave it here because the next points would probably be political, and best to avoid that. May 26May 26 comment_234532 Im a Bear's fan, I dont care about Illinois enough to require that in front of the name. I like tradition but the tradition doesnt lose its history because they move. When I watch video of Dick Butkus play, it isnt presented to me as Indiana. I would prefer they go to AH because its an hour away from me but from a technical view, the Indiana site is 40 minutes from where they play now. Living in Illinois and how poorly its run doesnt unconditional get my loyalty . No state taxes and warm weather is an advantage over player movement but being a Bear gets you lots of endorsements you may not have somewhere else. A enclosed stadium will do more for getting some players, so do whatever it takes to get the new stadium. Report
May 26May 26 comment_234535 Illinois income tax is 2 percent higher than Indiana. The sales tax in Cook county is 3.5 percent higher than the Indy Metro area. Property taxes and housing are ridiculously higher in Illinois. Jurko lives in Indiana and is constantly saying he prefers the "more house, less money" lifestyle of Indiana. That's coming from a native Chicagoan. Game checks are taxed in the state the stadium is in. I'm not sure about signing bonuses. Report

I am not sure, but if I worked in Wisconsin but lived in Illinois, it is taxed in WI. That sound right. IF the Bear's moved to Anchorage, I would still be a fan. Many Bear fans on here live other places and it didnt change for them. With modern technology, I never miss a game in Thailand for 5 months, being in the same area has a slight advantage but not a deal killer. Report
Sunday at 09:09 PM4 days comment_234594 The deadline is approaching and It doesnt look like the great state of Illinois cares about the Bears as much as the wonderful Governor. The Chicago Dems arent supporting the down state Dems because they think if they blow it off, the Bears will come crawling back to Chicago. I think they crawl to Indiana. Report

Monday at 04:13 AM4 days comment_234597 They bought the land in AH and then found out they were going to jack the property taxes to an outrageous price. Then Warren comes in to save the day so he checked back with the city and no one was cooperating. Then enter Indiana, a well run state. Here's where we are and it looks like a total sh** show. A poorly run state is never going to give them what they need. HELLO INDIANA Report
Monday at 04:26 AM4 days comment_234598 What a disaster. Illinois makes up a tax number which is 5 times more than any other NFL pays and the spin it on the Bears for not accepting it. The Bears want a fair tax number, some infrastructure help with roads etc, and that is it. So if they move, that tax that was never collected before goes to Indiana and Illinois saves from the infrastructure contributions the Bears asked for. Seems to me the greedy hands of Illinois are going to lose out for their greed. Report

No property tax collected being in Indiana. The sale taxes, and other fees the state will collect being in AH. The amount of jobs they will produce for the state. Indiana is in a better fiscal position to do the Bears stadium but know how much income the state will bring in from the Bears. The govt still owes 500 mil on the refurbish from years ago of which the Bears paid off their debt. One of the worst run states in the union as a governing body.Personally Im a Bears fan wherever they end up granting AH would be better for me being in the Rockford area. Now they can just start the stadium in Hammond and we can end this political speak. Report
Wednesday at 02:35 PM2 days comment_234624 All the pundits are complaining about this sh** show that is moving the team. When the team goes to Indiana, they will still follow the Bears and 95% of the fans will still be fans. The City of Chicago cant afford to keep the Bears, the State of Illinois cant afford to help the Bears. Indiana is in good financial space and can afford to invest in the Bears.McCaskey bought the Racetrack and then found out that instead of a fair tax base, Racetrack was paying 3 mil a year, they told them they would be paying between 100-200 mil a year. They hired Warren and he tried to negotiate with AH and state to get a fair assessment. When that didnt happen he tried to leverage other cities to get what he wanted. Enter Indiana.Nothing has changed , the state or Chicago cant afford the money because they are bankrupt,. Indiana is in good a financial state. It doesnt take a brain surgeon to figure how this will play out. Report

Indiana will build special ramps on the toll road and other highway. Excavation will occur to remove any slag. A golf course is currently on some of it. Trust me, this will be done really well. Bear down!PS: can someone perform a wellness check on our favorite author?I love when people say its toxic and yet there is a public golf course there. That is political talk because that's all they got. Half of Chicago is built on toxic land reclamation. The state and city is in financial ruins so they cant help the Bears. It would nice to stay there or go to AH but no one wants more taxes in the 3rd highest taxed state in the union. Its closer to the Lakefront than coming from Barrington or northwest of there. Lets get a great stadium (hopeful) and watch the Bears play in a SB there. Caleb will still be here in 5 years.Just heard this on the radio, as we enter our SB run with Caleb and BJ and they are going to bail on the team. That is not going to happen. Report

Indiana doesn't have the crooked politicians and unions trying to squeeze more into their pockets than what is reasonable. Bearville sounds like a great venue for the Bears! For me its good food tailgating before and then sometimes finding dinner on the way home. Report

20 minutes ago20 min comment_234636 If they build it fans will come. Many years ago the Cardinals built their stadium in Glendale which was, at the time, in the middle of nowhere. Civilization is now built up all around it. I have no clue what Hammond looks like now but in 20 years it will be a lot different. Report
