Bears traded for Simmons, 2x First Rounders, holy shit

I did some research, Simmons is the first All-Pro selection from the previous year (1st Team AP All-Pro) to be traded in season the following year since Eric Dickerson in 1987. Dickerson was in a contract dispute and was part of a massive trade that included multiple 1st and 2nd round picks.

The last defensive player was Fred Dean in 1981 at the age of 29, two years later he had 17.5 sacks at the age of 31. He was already traded due to a contract dispute.

Was just watching a clip of him during his first press conference. One thing he said was (I’m paraphrasing) ‘I talked with Grady (Jarrett) and told him if I take the slot and open it up, you better get there. And to Montez, if Im on the end against a tackle, you have a free lane to a sack and better get it.’ Man that is awesome to hear from day one. This dudes a team player.
