Read this article on Chicago Sun Times with regards article is there any likelihood of bears matching offer and would the 2nd round pick be this year or next

The Bears have two RFA’s who have yet to sign their tenders. Safety Brandon McGowan will probably do so soon. He received the mid-level tender for $1.417 million that would require a team to send the Bears a second-round draft pick if it signed McGowan to an offer sheet and the Bears declined to match it.Quite simply, that’s not going to happen. McGowan figures to be in the mix for a starting job after improving at the end of last season. A lot at safety will depend on what happens with Mike Brown, who’s coming off his third serious injury and will be entering the final year of his contract.

The 2nd round pick would be this year... but no team is going to think McGowan is worth a 2nd rounder.

Agreed. The sad part is that we desperately need him as part of the mix of our bad or often injured or inexperienced safety group. I really like McGowan as a back-up and as a special teams guy, but we need more production from our strong safety then what he gives us.

What will be interesting will be to see if we resign Rashied Davis. Pretty much every other WR we have on the roster will be a FA either next year or the year after. That means we're almost guaranteed to draft a guy. So if we resign Davis, that'll mean the end of Mike Haas.

The Chicago Bears on Tuesday signed safety Brandon McGowan to a one-year tender offer.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

McGowan started nine games with the Bears last season, collecting 80 tackles and his first two career interceptions. He also forced and recovered a fumble over 14 games in 2007.
