August 30, 200817 yr comment_45495 A clear picture of the 53-man roster By Brad Biggson August 30, 2008 4:18 PM | Permalink | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0) With the final cuts known (rookie Chester Adams is likely to receive an injury settlement) here is a look at what the 53-man roster looks like: QUARTERBACK (3)--Orton, Grossman, Hanie. RUNNING BACK (4)--Forte, Jones, Wolfe, Peterson. FULLBACK (1)--McKie. WIDE RECEIVER (6)--Hester, Lloyd, Bennett, Booker, Bradley, Davis. TIGHT END (3)--Clark, Olsen, Davis. OFFENSIVE LINE (8)--Kreutz, Beekman, Metcalf, Garza, Tait, St. Clair, Williams, Barton. TOTAL OFFENSE: 25 DEFENSIVE LINE (9)--Harris, Adams, Dvoracek, Idonije, Harrison, Brown, Ogunleye, Anderson, Toeaina. LINEBACKER (6)--Urlacher, Briggs, Hillenmeyer, Williams, McClover, Roach. SAFETY (5)--Brown, McGowan, D. Manning, Payne, Steltz. CORNERBACK (5)--Tillman, Vasher, Graham, Bowman, McBride. TOTAL DEFENSE: 25 SPECIALISTS (3)--Gould, Maynard, Mannelly. There could still be movement, especially Sunday involving the waiver wire. The most logical are for change would be on the offensive line. We'll see what shakes out there. Peace Report
August 30, 200817 yr comment_45498 Glad to see Hanie made it. Now it will be interesting to see what they do about picking up some help on the Oline. And Bradley better stay healthy and contribute. Report
August 30, 200817 yr comment_45504 If we pickup up someone for the oline I would be wanting to place Williams on the IR to free up the spot. Report
August 31, 200817 yr comment_45507 OFFENSIVE LINE (8)--Kreutz, Beekman, Metcalf, Garza, Tait, St. Clair, Williams, Barton. There could still be movement, especially Sunday involving the waiver wire. The most logical are for change would be on the offensive line. We'll see what shakes out there. You bet there'll be movement. 8 OL is inadequate, particularly when you realize one of those won't be available until close to November, at the earliest. Report
August 31, 200817 yr comment_45534 Willie Anderson anyone? Is he still hurting from that knee injury he had last year? Report
August 31, 200817 yr comment_45540 Barton would be a canidate for the PS if we signed an OL We don't need Anderson. IMHO we need a guy that can play both the guard and tackle position Although if we sign Anderson we could move ST. Clair to the guard position and have Meetcalf moved back to being a backup at guard. But if we kept Anderson when Williams is able to play then we might move him to guard. Report
August 31, 200817 yr comment_45545 Like I just stated before it wouldn't hurt to bring Anderson in for a look and Barton to the practice squad might be risky. They kept him on the roster for a reason. He didn't look bad during preseason. Report
August 31, 200817 yr comment_45546 The Lions released Jonathon Scott he was pretty good in college but I'm not sure what the problem was in Detroit. Report
