February 2, 200917 yr comment_57694 I figure the Bears would be in the mix of possibilities. I wouldn't mind if the price is right... Rice aiming to make comeback, could Bears figure in? Report
February 3, 200917 yr comment_57696 I was thinking Jerry too. Simeon is a local product and the Bears could have had him early in Angelo's tenure. I wouldn't be shocked if they'd consider him a possibility (especially if they released Ogunley to save some cash). Report
February 3, 200917 yr comment_57698 Given how many pieces of his old staff we have, what's the harm in giving him a tryout? Report
February 3, 200917 yr comment_57701 I figured Jerry, too. But anyways, at the right price, why not? He could provide some leadership as well as some production. Report
February 3, 200917 yr comment_57702 Simeon Rice and leadership in the same sentence, now that's new. He's certainly worth a look but I don't have my hopes up. Report
February 3, 200917 yr comment_57707 Not with the mix of DE's we have we shouldn't sign him. In 2004, when we had a 26 year old Wale, and a 24 year old Alex Brown, that's the ideal situation to bring a 35 year old into the mix. If the guy tanks, it's no big deal. At this point, with Wale 31, Alex Brown 29, and Mark Anderson a question, it's essential we draft a young stud DE. Hell, hopefully it would have a "Thomas Jones" type effect, where the play of the other three becomes elevated. While DaBearsdabomb mentioned dumping Wale to save money, he's still considered our best DE. There's no way in hell you dump him unless you're upgrading. More importantly, why would you dump him to save money when we have 25 million to spend, & there's not much to buy? Even we dumped him to add Peppers, IMO we'd still want to draft a DE at some point. I didn't mean it that way, but that's my fault for my wording. I meant to say maybe he'll go out and with his play, maybe some of the other vets will get a kick in the shorts and realize they could become back-ups very soon. Report
February 3, 200917 yr comment_57712 Add him to the training camp roster. If he still has it then I think he would bring the fire & brimstone to the other DE'S that we miss. Report
February 3, 200917 yr comment_57719 If he wants to come in and give it a go, let him. I surely think finding a YOUNG premier DE is top priority. Report
February 3, 200917 yr comment_57729 If we can get him cheap, with no guarantees, why the hell not. Let him compete in camp. Low risk, high reward type of move. Also, I thought this was Jerry at first as well, lol. Report
February 3, 200917 yr comment_57730 Lol I thought this was going to be about Jerry Rice when I first saw the thread. Report
