A look into WR....

R Williams is a player that interests me, he was a highly touted prospect that hasn't flourished. Maybe it had something to do w/ JAX. But when it comes to a complimentory WR to fit our other WR's, I think Williams can bring that Larry Fitzgerald type. Adding Williams should be cheap and it can give CHI more options in the draft.

------------------------------------------------

2004 DRAFT PROFILE:

Reggie Williams

6-4 212 40 time - 4.48--4.62 at proday

Positives:

Reggie Williams has good speed for his size, great natural ability, and excellent hands. He is very physical, has good strength, and rarely loses out on a jump ball. In terms of player toughness, he is arguably as good as any other receiver in college football.

He has great strength and often manhandles corners that try to jam him at the line of scrimmage. He has a great work ethic and has a history of coming through in big games.Williams also takes pride in being a great blocker, something that is not real common in the college ranks. He is confident almost to a fault, and as a sophomore, he turned in the best receiving season in Washington Huskies' history.

Negatives:

There's nothing wrong with Reggie Williams' physical skills. He has adequate speed, but is not what you would call a real burner. But there are questions about his character. His is so confident, he sometimes comes off as arrogant at times and has had issues with teammates because of it.

A Recent Scouting Report

Assets Big, tall receiver with sure hands. A top red zone threat. Will make catches in traffic and move the chains. Has made vast improvements as a route runner in the past two seasons.

Flaws A late bloomer who took forever to "get it". Still runs some lazy routes or misreads his coverage. Isn't a true burner and doesn't make the most of his ability to outjump defenders for deep balls.

Career Potential Solid starter.

As to his recent arrest:

A judge dismissed DWI and possession of marijuana charges against free-agent receiver Reggie Williams on Friday. Online Harris County records show both charges were dismissed. Williams was arrested about 2 a.m. on Feb. 27 on Houston's southwest side after officers smelled alcohol on his breath and a "strong odor" of marijuana in his vehicle

From: Fox Sports.com

I believe he was convicted earlier in his career for marijuana though.

Seems like the marijuana charge adds some clarity to why it took him "forever to get it". As an UFA he might be worth a look.

Why not add him? Chances are, we need to add two more WR's. We take one in the early rounds, but we still need to add a veteran, probably for cheap.

Is Williams better then Brandon Lloyd? Who's better between the two of them?

and felony gun charges...

Oh well, cross him off the list. Man, how hard can it be to behave for 10 yrs of you life. I'm sure it's got to be hard with all the down time, but can you imagine only putting in 10 years if your lucky and be able to walk away with enough money to live like a king and take care of your kids kids for the rest of there lifes. NFL stands for National Fools League sometimes.

I think the Bears will probably draft a WR to develop and utilize G-Reg more at WR while having Kellen Davis and Clark at TE. This would give Cutler some big targets and some nice hands. Olson is probably as fast as Reggie Williams any way plus he already knows our offense. Now this probably would not be the base offense but we would have receivers on the field with the following heights:

Olson: 6'5''; K.Davis: 6'7''; Clark: 6'3", Hester: 5'11" and Forte at 6'2" is a rec threat out of the backfield. Talk about mismatches for opposing DEF!

Olson K.Davis--Pace-Omyale-Krutz-Buenning-Williams--Clark Hester

Cutler

Forte

Maybe Cincy will sign him

No thanks. He had every last chance to be "the guy" in Jacksonville and failed. Though his 07' looked like he was finally turning it around with Garrard tearing it up, he still dropped passes left and right and never got anything close to consistent separation.

Forget Williams sign Murphy or Mitchell in the draft
