December 1, 200916 yr comment_73447 http://mobile.suntimes.com/suntimes/db_215...AGc&src=cat The article lays out many reasons why the Bears need not consider "cleaning house" just to get another coach with a Super Bowl win in their pocket. I personally grow tired of those that want to get Cowher as if you put the record of Smith and Cowher side by side it really isn't all that different. Realistically, and as Bowlingtwig and a few others mentioned, Shannahan might be the better option. Mostly due to his familiarity to Cutler. And really that is what the Bears need to concern themselves with, making Cutler better and more comfortable. Would Weis be a good OC?? Most definitely. Would he come to Chicago??? Probably not. The bottom line is none of us are either Ted Phillips, Jerry Angelo or in the McCaskey family so get used to seeing Lovie for at least another year. I for one am good with it. Report
December 1, 200916 yr comment_73453 I'm in agreement that it probably happens, but there is no way in hell I'm "good with it." Report
December 2, 200916 yr comment_73477 This statement was the most compelling: "Mike Shanahan won one playoff game (1-4) after John Elway retired. Jon Gruden went 0-2 in the playoffs in six seasons after winning the Super Bowl; The Colts are 11-0 without Tony Dungy; Mike Holmgren built a winner in Seattle, but didn't win his first playoff game with the Seahawks until his seventh season; and Brian Billick went 1-3 in the playoffs in seven seasons after winning the Super Bowl in 2000." ...along with the fact that no Super Bowl winning coach has ever moved on to another team an won another. Just coincidence? Are we willing to wait 7 seasons for our first playoff win? Report
December 2, 200916 yr comment_73484 Just curious, how many trips to the playoffs did Cowher have. I agree shannahan would be good just don't let him do the draft. He is great for zone blocking which we need. The main arguement for change is that we are increasingly growing more and more pathetic. Waiting one more year to change for what? So your vets are even older? So it will take even more to rebuild? To better our draft status? Please what is the arguement to trust the men who brought us to the state we are in now. What were lovie's goals? Win the division? Haven't done that in awhile. Beat the packers? They are rebuilding with a new defense and it is still a struggle. But at the end of the day I am a fan and the owners are business people. They want to make money. They obviously don't have being the best on the top of their priority list. Report
December 2, 200916 yr comment_73507 Interesting point. Although Vermeil and Parcells went w/ 2 and won w/ one. ..I think Shula as well. Reeves went w/ 2 and lost both. ...along with the fact that no Super Bowl winning coach has ever moved on to another team an won another. Report
