April 19, 201412 yr comment_134088 Anyone else think, despite the admitted need to focus on defense in the draft, we should nab a WR in the middle rounds? Certainly Marshall and Jeffery are great, but there's nothing but question marks behind him. At least with Earl Bennett, you knew what you were getting. Depth right now is: - Wilson, a thin and injury prone 2nd year 7th round pick with 2 career catches - Hixon, a journeyman who is at least two year removed from a year when he had any kind of impact as a WR - Weems, who had little impact as a WR and was already asked to take a paycut - Williams, a 5'8" return specialist - Bellamy and Tolliver, who have done nothing in this leage I really want a DT and S in the first two picks, and while I would lean CB or LB in the 3rd, if a quality guy like Moncrief or Landry is sitting there in the 3rd, I might pull the trigger, and I'd like to see WR address somewhere in the rounds 3-5. Thoughts? Report
April 19, 201412 yr comment_134090 I really think the Bears are high on Wilson, and I think it will be for good reason. I haven't heard about how much he's bulked up, but I'm sure he has down there with Marshall and company. Hixon is another guy in the same mold as E. Bennett. Nothing flashy but he has a reliable set of hands. I wouldn't absolutely hate to see them grab a guy in the 5th or 6th round, but in the 3-4? ya no thanks. Bears need to take advantage of the defensive depth in the 1st 4 rounds IMO. QB/RB/TE are bigger "needs". Report

If the bpa in rd4 is a WR and he is rated much higher than another position of need, then I can see the pick. This team will not fill all the holes in one offseason. This year I'd like them to find starters at DT, S. A#2 RB and CB are high on my list. QB to groom as a backup should be a thought. Then possible TE, Cody Lyerla could be a steal. The first two picks have to be hits. Report

I agree also but, if there is a trade partner who needs a WR I would do that but only for picks in this years draft that seems to be destined to yield some decent UDFAs also. Report
April 19, 201412 yr comment_134104 I would love the Bears to draft my nephew. Kofi Hughes out of IU. 6'2 215, ran 4.5 forty, had 23 reps and catches very well. He was a four year starter and a damn good kid. His fellow team mate Cody Lattimer is projected to be taken at 28 by Kiper. I'd do a back flip if we got him. Report

Now if we drafted a guy with the intent that he would be our PR/KR, that would be a different story. But stricly for WR, it's not a need and not likely. Heck, why not resign Earl Bennett? He's still available and he'd be pretty damn cheap. I Report

I like him. He is not fast, not big, but has good hands and gets to the right spot on the field. Depending on how things shake out I could see him returning on a vet min deal or close to that but I think we want to see what other options we have first, as does Earl. Report
