Bears draft Sam Roush, TE at 69
How did all of us perceive lasts year draft last year? You and I are like minded, we need to trust what they are doing and why they picked who they picked when they picked them. If they end up with Dennis-Sutton or Gracen Halton at a later round, good for them. I like Kaleb Proctor and would have been happy if drafted in the second round and he is still there. This still has room to fill needs we all agree on.

Totally agree. The scouting dept brings the players and then Ben and Ryan sort out their needs and create a board. They are sticking to their board, not fan and pundit perception of values of players. I was disappointed last year after the draft and boom, best draft in a very long time and its not done paying dividends. Clearly BJ states what he wants, this draft as well as last year, push for a dominating offense. They attribute a bad defense last year to injuries and not all players fit DAs scheme. I think they may have drafted Jacas but he went two picks before 57 and then would have drafted Jones with 60. It didnt work out. Drafted Jones and moved back for the next guy on their board. This is not over and we have to see how it turns out. Then UDFAs and a second wave of free agents. If they dont get who they wanted, then you may see Cam Jordan, DJ Reader, several options still available. That is the point you see these type of players signed after they didnt fill their needs in the draft.

I been making jokes here or on social media that they need to lock BJ in a closet. I have also mentioned they need to build around the QB and today they showed that. The good thing is I have 2-3 DTs i wanted and about 2 DEs that I would have taken in earlier rounds in mocks. If the Bears get those players, genius. If not, then maybe having two heads at the top is to many. With those players still available, I or none of us know true value.

Bears draft Sam Roush, TE at 69
At least all 32 teams have felt that way about those left over players. TE was heavily drafted this year as teams seen how great 12 personnel works.
-
Best Available Day 2
Maybe, he has a steady improvement scale going year to year. I think the Bears feel they can develop and feature him unlike what Stanford did.

Bears draft Sam Roush, TE at 69
Yeah, we are playing the board as it falls. If we end up with Dennis-Sutton, or Joshua Josephs (or even Reiger, Ndame Tucker etc) then they just played the board beautifully. if on the other hand we are being too cute and all those names go and we are stuck with nothing, and there is no trade or free agent move in his back pocket, then this will be a really different outcome. So I feel like I shouldnt judge him until he is done. Im having faith that that Edge is coming. I also wanted Dennis-Sutton or Josephs in the 2nd round, so maybe Poles is one cool cat. Or maybe he's a psycho that doesnt care about the pass rush? Time will tell.

This is Ben Johnson’s team
That title isn’t meant to be snarky. While we’re all thinking, or at least I was thinking, we need to build a balanced roster. You know as in Caleb is good enough to overcome some deficiencies among the offense. Nope. Today made it clear Ben is determined to build an unstoppable offense with a full suite of weapons around Caleb. So it’s not going to be good offense and good defense. It’ll be great offense and good-enough defense. That’s the way the Colts ran all those years with Peyton Manning. KC did the same with Andy Reed for a few years and then just added in Mahomes. Never having seen a great offense in Chicago I don’t know how to feel about the effort to do this. I do like the three offensive players we drafted although the WR seemed like we could have drafted in the 4th. Being a Bears fan my focus has always been defense.

Best Available Day 2
I think by midseason, he will be ahead of Kmet. Thats my guess. Maybe sooner.

Best Available Day 2
Not this year, but future...Roush should be as good as Kmet or better TE. His size and athletic ability is just insane, has smarts to go to Stanford. I bet he took education seriously though with NIL that has changed.

Bears draft Sam Roush, TE at 69
I wanted Dani Dennis-Sutton round 2, hes still on the board. If the Bears get one of the edges left it shows how much we know going off mock draft sites for input. Would have loved Gabe Jack's, maybe the Bears did too, but gone a pick before. Just staying positive like every year.

Best Available Day 2
I think it actually costs us cap space to trade him right now, so unless we are getting monster value for him, I think he probably sticks around this year. Im just saying, with the drafting of Roush, Kmets future is shrinking with us. His targets will decrease, his role will get smaller as Roush comes on. Johnson said "I know I have Kmet, but I want this guy in the 3rd round." so that's not great for Kmet, one way or another. I think Roush is better than Kmet?
-
Best Available Day 2
He was here into most of his 2nd contract. They can keep him, but at TE #3 value or the Bears trade him.
-
Bears trade 60 for 69 (3rd) and 144 (5th)
I dont see Turner being DE #3 with Sweat, Dayo, Booker. I see him being behind Jarrett and Dexter at DT. He played DE due to the Bears being thin. I might be wrong but going off tidbits ive seen. I think they take a DE going off my feel. DT if he is best player. I think they grab a RB late too.
-
Best Available Day 2
Right. Im not saying Kmet is going to be traded right now, he might be, but even if he isnt, he wont be here longer than this year. Maybe gone at the trade deadline if not this offseason? Im saying the writing is on the wall meaning, youre on your way out one way or another. It's certainly going to affect Kmets targets.

Best Available Day 2
The Bears needed a TE to replace Smythe and Roush will be doing a lot of blocking to start, so I think Kmet is safe for now. His contract expires after 2027 so he probably gets traded after this year and Roush steps in his role.

Bears trade 60 for 69 (3rd) and 144 (5th)
Several things appear to be true after watching us draft three offensive players in a row. First it seems like they feel Shemar Turner will fill the glaring void for a third DE. That would make sense for a guy who is a tweener recovering from a knee injury. He’d struggle to add all the DT weight Second by trading back that 5th Rd pick gives Poles enough to trade up to around the 10th pick in the 4th Rd. There are several good DTs still on the board, many who have been highlighted on our board. Talent varies from run stuffer NT like Capehart to 3 tech Gracen Halton. I like what Zxavian Harris can do on the field. Don’t like the off the field stuff so based on what Poles said about narrowing the list down to love of the game players I’ll guess he’s just not on our board at all.

Bears draft Sam Roush, TE at 69
We all have our weaknesses - Poles’ is apparently the third round, where he has yet to make a good pick (Velus Jones, Zacch Pickens, Kiran Amegadjie) and his most successful draft (last year) was one where he didn’t have a third round pick. Maybe we should just trade all our third round picks until someone pans out. Maybe it will be one of these guys, but I kind of doubt it (I don’t love that it seems neither the nor Thomas is all that good at catching the ball). I did find one guy that liked the pick and can kind of see the vision . . .

Bears draft Sam Roush, TE at 69
I agree - in these cases if your board hasn’t lined up move down (or move up and get someone who you like who can start).

Bears draft Sam Roush, TE at 69
Didn’t read messages. This is a complete WTF pick. I don’t care what anyone says. There were still needs at this point.

Best Available Day 2
didn't we JUST have him renegotiate his contract so we could get more cap space? yea, sure as f' makes sense to me.
-
Round 2, Pick 57, Logan Jones, C
He looks like a stud, and he can get out into the 2nd level easily, great movement.

Bears draft Sam Roush, TE at 69
DJ, now Kmet. The standard for excellence is set. Honestly, it's early and there's lots of time to prove himself yet, but this is the first little shot across Odunze's bow too. If Johnson didnt draft you, youd better give it everything you have. If we get Joshua Joseph tomorrow, or Dani Dennis-Sutton, this draft is going to look genius. If we dont get an Edge, somethings gotta give.
-
Best Available Day 2
As to Roush, the writing is on the wall for Kmet.

Best Available Day 2
its bizarre, BUT I would have been good with Dani Dennis-Sutton, Joshua Josephs, Mason Reiger and Ndame Tucker in the 3rd, and all four are still on the board. If we pick one of these guys, especially one of the first two, or at least they are there and we choose whichever Edge player, then Im gonna say that the Bears played the board and won. But its a huge risk. Let's see what tomorrow brings. And after that, let's see what might come in free agency. For example IF (if if) they sign Cam Jordan, or trade for Max Crosby or something then Im going to understand that they didnt like the options they had in the draft, for example. But if the roster as it is now, and this is what we roll with on the DL opening day, then something is very wrong. The current group just doesnt fit the rest of the team.

News Flash, This Just In: Ryan Poles Diagnosed With Dimensia
"Isn't this what we need for this 2025 NFL draft?" Poles was quoted as saying tonight before drafting a Tight End and then a Wide Receiver. oh that's right, it's 2026 and we did this last year. it's de' ja' vu all over again. why not keep drafting the same positions over and over and over and over for the rest of our lives? 1. poles gives a contract to a center who wants to retire (and he talks him out of it?) and 'surprise' he retires after ONE season. then drafts a center, that was a third round projected pick, in the 2nd round. all this after trading our f'king 5th round pick to the Pat's for this wonderful center a month ago. if this is even close to being sane, please explain it to me without mentioning how we needed to bring in a veteran center as a sure thing before the draft so we didn't draft for need. 2. a f&$#!ng 3rd string TE in the freaking third round?? i don't care how good this guy is projected. that's not even a luxury, that is stupidity. how many TE's do we really need? this off season we signed TE Qadir Ismail to a reserve/futures contract and we signed TEs Stephen Carlson and Nikola Kalinic to our roster. there are a hundred blocking TE's we could pick up after june 1st. 3. we sign a WR/kick return free agent from the lions. then we take our third round pick we traded our other 2nd round pick for to draft a WR kick return man. but, oh yea, we got an extra f&$@!%^& 5th round pick for trading down. makes complete sense to me after someone jabbed me in the jugular vein with a syringe full of scopolomine and LSD. what is our top priority this season? any guesses? DEFENSE!! oh that's right, we drafted a defensive tackle last year who was freaking INJURED. a good safety this year who FELL INTO OUR LAPS and was a NO BRAINER pick. that should turn our 24th ranked defense completely around. yes-sir-reeebob we are there now!! who the hell needs defensive linemen or linebackers when we have a plethora of third string tight ends and receivers? third day picks anyone? maybe a right tackle? or a guard? how about another quarterback or a punter just to round off a draft of stupidity. anyone guess at how we are going to keep this many same position players on our roster after the final cut? do we cut the recent veterans we signed or just the new draft picks? after all we can draft those same positions again next year. and yet again (year after year) i can truthfully say.... why in the H E L L is this guy still our pretend GM? there is nothing this guy does that makes any sense. his judgment in the draft and free agency is beyond mind boggling. but then again, who just gave this idiot an extension? one guess only.
