  1. Past hour
  2. for sure known to our scouts and Bienemy the NFL, but not to me! I only looked at film of like the top 8 or so HBs and that was it. I dont watch college ball. After we drafted him, my Dad, who does watch Big Ten Football told me "oh yeah that guy is a beast" so he knew, but I didnt lol
  3. Monangai did lead the Big10 in rushing, so that itself should have made him known. The guy may not have the best speed but contact balance, vision, and drive to go with pass pro and ball security make him solid. Eric Bienemy did scream and pound for him since he was at UCLA and coached against him a couple of times.
  4. None of the games will be easy but I am starting to think we could win our last 3 games and get home field advantage. We have the mojo, getting healthier, Ben Johnson, and Caleb getting ready to breakout. Call me an optimist, actually I am.
  5. Today
  6. Both Judkins and Henderson went before our pick at 39. If Poles would have wanted them he would have traded up a few spots to get them. We have to give Poles credit for playing the draft the way he did. First 3 picks have (IMO) 2 potential pro bowlers and a starting LT. Monongai is a top 3 rookie running back picked in the 7 th round. Injuries has effected the rest of the class but Newman and Turner look like potential starters coming. I think they had Swift and they wanted the thunder guy, I think Skattabo was the target in the 4th and went before our pick.
  7. Jermaine Johnson DE NYJ has 13 mil contract next year. Id consoder the 32 pick for him if the Jets are down for it.
  8. The way it's looking, the pick will be 31 or 32... with that said, the trade value is less and the draft prospect more raw. I know Poles has already done a lot of homework and by the sounds of it could possibly had Jermaine Johnson DE NYJ at the deadline if everyone was on board. His value was estimated a 2nd round pick. If NYJ gets antsy this draft, I'd test those waters again. He is young and a disrupter. Sherman Turner will be back and the Bears liked him at DE, especially on run downs. He will be in the mix inside and outside. Booker is showing promise, so it will be a mystery on how they approach this.
  9. I personally was hoping for Cam Skatebo. He has definitely show that hes great, but I can't complain about Monangai at all - a real hidden gem. I didnt even know his name until we took him. So score one for the front office on that one. Was it Poles? Bienemy? Some scout who banged the table to tell us he was great enough that we were willing to wait for him?
  10. Also, while it was originally designed to happen after June 1st, i THINK (and I could be wrong) that you can only use the June 1st designation a limited number of times, and you can use it before June 1st too, just designate it as such?
  11. That is true but there was also a lot of sentiment that we should be grabbing one of the RBs in Rd 2. Myself included although I think was more of the mindset there was so much depth that waiting until the 3rd or 4th Rd in that draft would still net us a good RB.
  12. Good explanation. I finally get it.
  13. The remaining cap hit gets spread out similarly to a restructure over multiple years. It is a little more complicated when they have multiple years left, but if you look at Sweat's, it is easier to see (2 years left in 2026). With one year left (after 2026), if Sweat was traded before June 1st 2026, the team would have $8,170,589 Dead Cap because it would all be applied in 2026. However, if it occurs after June 1st, only $4,085,294 in Dead Cap would be applied to the 2026 cap, while the other half is applied in 2027 (the final year of his original deal).
  14. Interesting contrast with and without Parsons. The Bears have to take advantage of this opportunity.
  15. Yesterday
  16. Maybe someone can explain why most trades after 6/1 more cap relief and less dead cap? It makes no sense to me.
  17. That would be interesting, but as they are $43M over the cap for next year already, they would have to get under the cap before the league year starts in March. So any massive move like that would need to happen before then or a restructure that gets them under the cap, then something like that. They really screwed themselves with the Mahomes contract. He has a $78M cap hit and 77.8M in dead money. Now due to his injury, at most they can restructure his and save maybe $10M at the most, but not much. They are in a bad spot thru 2027.
  18. Line down to GB -1.5. With Parsons, GB as a team, has 33 sacks. Without Parsons+Wyatt, the rest of the roster has 16.5. The Bears have 29. For INTs, the Bears have 21, GB has 7.
  19. I agree. we need at least two new dogs on the D line. It's incredible the rest of the team has carried us here without a pass rush. Watching Jordan Love sit comfortably in a clean pocket for 5 seconds at a time was brutal. And when we try to create pressure blitzing, we get burned. The simple answer is we need a real pass rush from the front four. Add that to this team, and you can see where we are headed.
  20. I agree they are playing well, but Dexter is not up to his draft status and Jarrett is below his contract. Both seem like good team mates.
  21. Henderson was always the one they probably wanted, and he has looked really good.
  22. Not heard: I wish the Bears had drafted Quinshon Judkins in the 2nd Rd. In fact he looked rather pedestrian against our Bears. .
  23. If the Bears beat GB, there is a good chance they are resting starters in Week 18 against DET (assuming LAR wins on THU). To me it is hard to believe that the Bears are in this position with 3 weeks to go, they basically control their own destiny and just have to finish with a Division record of 3-3 to win the division.
  24. I think Dexter and Jarrett are playing well. They’re just not elite players. I feel the same about Sweat. Somewhere on the Dline we need a dude. If not two.
  25. I do have a post 6/1 trade that would be beneficial for both teams. KC is looking to get better at WR, so they are a good partner. Send DJ to them for Chris Jones. I think Jones would pick up his play with a change of scenery. KC has become stagnant from success and could use the spark DJ could provide.
  26. Tom only played 24 snaps against DEN. He and Williams both were hurt in the 2nd half I believe.
  27. "Any given Sunday" holds true. Other factors that can skew that whole theory are how injuries figure in. Assume KC was still in the running for a postseason berth and the injury to Mahomes still occurred, they'd more than likely lose a lot of momentum in the last few weeks and who knows, be right back where they are now or 1 and done in the playoffs. A lot of the times it simply matters whose peaking at the right time. A few weeks ago I thought Dallas was one of those teams but then they lost to Minny. I wanna think Chicago is peaking now at the right time and with a win over GB this weekend it would better convince me they are ready to make a run this year into the postseason.
