Yeah the Bears and Packers have 3 common games remaining (DET, 2 against each other), the 4 different games are MINx2, DEN, BAL vs the Bears getting PHI, SF, PIT, and CLE. GB is a very weird team. All 3 of their losses have come when the defense held the opponent to 16 or less. They have turned the ball over in only 4 games, and in those games they are 1-3-1. So it seems like even one error and the entire game is derailed. That actually reminds me of recent Bears teams, the big difference being Flus+Fields vs LaFleur+Love.

They are also a first-place team. So this is a bigger game than I expected at the start of the season. PIT does what PIT does every year with Tomlin, the most consistent Head Coach in this era. The fact that he has never had a losing record in 19 years is wild. Like Andy Reid has had 3 losing seasons a 4-win, 5-win, and a 6-win season. John Harbaugh has one. Belichick had 8.

I also dont see Kmet going anywhere. This is BJs first year of building an offensive power and getting rid of offensive assets doesnt make sense to me. They will concentrate on the draft to fix our weaknesses. As much as Theo needs to grow quite a bit, I see him as the LT starter next yr. We still have Trapillo and Kiran for prospects to potential get better to ascend to give him competition. Like you said, by getting rid of an asset , you create another spot you need to replace in the draft. Burden will find more time once Zaccheaus is gone. I do see then asking DJ to redo his contract to create more money. Swift is one player, they could get some Cap relief with if traded or cut but there again they could ask him to redo his contract. We would save 7.5 mil if we let him go but then again we would have to replace him. They could decide to go with Monangai as the lead back and add a Swift type RB in the mid rounds to take his place. As much as people talked about getting a big trade in this season, example Hendrickson, they said to find money, they would restructure contracts to fit in our Cap. I think to find more money, they will go to players like Kmet and Edmunds and redo contracts to add more Cap space. They are the only two players that dont have a lot of money that would not create dead money on the books. This team is changing over from a good defensive team to an offensive power house and they are not to add big contracts to the defense as far as free agents. For better or for worst, we are stuck one more year with Jarrett, Dayo, Sweat. They will site injuries that hurt our defense. JJ, Dayo, Shemar Turner, Kyle Gordon, Terrell Smith, and expect them to be better. Also growth in young players example Booker for the defense to get better. I havent looked at draft stuff yet but this is a mock draft that I think will be similar to what we do with several trade backs to get more picks. 45. A.J. Haulcy S LSU 56. Brisker will be offered a team friendly deal, but his concussion history will be considered. The FA part of our off season will not have any big signings. Draft is the key to our team improving.

I agree. I don't think just cutting Kmet would the right move. It should be a trade. Kmet is the 7th highest paid TE in the league, and he's not even the best TE on the team.

I don't see Kmet going anywhere given how complimentary Ben Johnson was on his play against the Vikings. Then just to create a hole that has to be backfilled using a draft pick. Given all the needs we still have on the roster we need all the picks we can get. However, he could be dangled in a trade either for a pick or more likely a player at a need position. Trading to fill a need offsets the value proposition with the draft pick. I see the same situation with DJ Moore, he's a benefit to the team but with his replacement already on the roster we have to consider options. Trading Kmet nets $8.4mil in cap savings. Trading DJ $16.5mil. Swift is the other logical place to free up money either through cut or I'd say they could consider a 1yr extension to eek out a bit of space. I'm pretty sure we'll be drafting another RB likely on day 3 again, cut Swift and it likely needs to be a day 2 pick. While I know fans have concerns over Swift, I think Ben Johnson's concern with a rookie replacement will be pass pro. His running ability can be replaced. Cap space for 2026 projected cap of $300mil, Bears have just $1mil in space. I expected Edmunds to get cut but seeing how he's been playing under Allen I think he'll get an extension that will lower his cap hit. Hopefully with a rising team we can get a bit of a home team discount instead of having to be highest bidder.

Same for DJ Moore, but i think we already have his replacement on the roster in Luther Burden III We might need a TE too, given that Kmet doesn't seem to be worth his $11.6M either?

yes. it's one thing to watch the game on TV, and when I do that, I'm like any fan, I watch the ball, well maybe the OL at the snap, but pretty quickly I'm watching the ball. But when you see the all 22 it all makes sense and is VERY different. If people only watch the TV coverage and then read articles or listen to talking heads, they get one impression. But if you watch the all 22, or even just some plays with analysis, like Jennings, Daniels, OSullivan, Warner etc then you see it in a completely different way.

For sure draft boards at this time will change dramatically. I've learned this early in the process you really need to look into anyone in the first / second round grades to get an idea of who really will end up with a round 1 grade. Rarely does an early-in-the-process 3rd Rd grade move up into late 1st but sometimes especially with very young players it can happen.

As up and down as the Steelers are, it would be nice to get our first win over an above 500 team.

Its not the end of the season have to win game but it would show the team is making progress.

As of now, we pick 23rd and look for us to fall into the 18-20 range as the season progresses. I did a mock draft on PFF and changed our pick to 18. Five edge players were drafted before us. Things always change and a star may be born in the coming months.
