  2. Bringing in Christian Jones/OT instead of bringing back Wills or Kiran( got picked up) speaks volumes to what they thought of those two. With Lynch coming back that gives us 6 DTs. Now Lynch and Street can move outside but we have 5 DEs on the roster. I would suspect someone is going to the PS , Loving?

Yeah, I forgot players from external teams can't be announced until today. So they will be on there, plus a few more.

That’s a decent group. Several WR options that could contribute in a pinch I definitely expected Alexander would be in that group. I wonder if the deal with Davenport was always about the practice squad. He’s known Dennis Allen for a long time. If both parties accept he won’t play a full season then he’s hanging around for the final push into the playoffs. The RB from Minn is a clear backup for Roschon. Ahmed backs up Swift/monangai
  6. Looking at best available free agents still out there, there are some interesting names that might be calling. Poles FA splash a few years ago Larry Ogunjobi, Leonard Floyd, Adoree Jackson. We really don't have the cap available, but if there's a guy, they can get creative.
  7. I believe the practice squad is 16 players. 17 if you have an international player. 6 of the 16 can be veterans. 2 players can be elevated each week without having to clear waivers up to 3 games, they have to remain on active roster or be waived. The practice squad rules changed in 2020.

Looks like with Christian Jones and Zavier Scott signing from external teams, there is at least one odd man out on the original 11-resignings. Could also be someone else going on IR and opening up a roster spot.
  10. Didn't see the new thread until now. Thanks for the updates.
  11. PS signings (looks like 13 names, but only 12 slots, someone is not making it or changed their minds): OL Caden Barnett OL Kyle Hergel WR Kaden Davis WR Scotty Miller WR J.P Richardson TE Stephen Carlson RB Salvon Ahmed RB Zavier Scott (from MIN) DE Marcus Davenport LB Wayne Matthews DB Deantre Prince DB Marlen Sewell OT Christian Jones (from ARZ) Lynch and Sanborn also resigned and should go back on the 53-man roster.
  12. Bearswire.usatoday reporting RBs Zavier Scott & Salvon Ahmed on our PS
  13. Hyppolite going to IR.
  14. I didnt realize Bagent's contract runs thru 2027. We can wait a year and still be able to trade him. No need to trade now.
  15. I read that Caden Barnett returns to our PS along with OT Christian Jones (I think from Arizona). Also, Amegadjie signs with Philly PS
  16. A few transactions today. Lynch back on the 53 Scotty Miller on the PS.
  17. I don’t care how he arrives at the destination as long as he gets there. I see the many missed draft picks of other teams so I don’t think we’re alone here. If he doesn’t get the superbowl win then the picks ultimately become his accountability. I had a thought last night the Steelers returned our second round pick for Tyson Bagent before next years draft.
  18. James Lynch is back…more to come
  19. Its easy to look back and criticize transactions. What I do know is, he made the two best moves this team has ever had. BJ and Caleb. Also, the net result of all of these mistakes was a 12 win season. I suspect we do that again. He is a C+ to me, not great but not terrible. Its okay to have your own opinion, for me, its about results . Call him lucky with Caleb ad BJ, but he is the one that did that and he will not be remembered for failed 3rd round picks. When he took the job, he said it would take 5 yrs to be a winner and compete for SBs. So far so good. He took his job on Jan 25 2022,
  20. The Bears are one of a few teams that have hit on the waiver wire. Last year it was D'Marco Jackson. It's one thing to hit on a UDFA, but a waiver wire one is rarer. Now if Poles could just draft better and stop trying to be the smartest guy in the room. The draft day video of Poles smoking and joking about how the broadcast doesn't have video on Hyppolite is damning. He really thought he was outsmarting the league and now he looks like the idiot. It is one thing to take a guy later than his projected ADP, that shows value, and in some cases patience. Reaching for guys has rarely, if ever, worked out. Burden was drafted later, looks like that will work out. Same for Monangai, same for van den Berg. Those are value picks with the traits you like. Reaching for those guys rarely works. Velus Jones, Amegadjie, Hyppolite, Taylor, just to name a few. Pickens felt like a reach too, but maybe not as much. I really hope he changes his draft approach with Ben Johnson now influencing those picks.
  21. If I understand the rules proper, there is a short term (4 week) pup list and a 6 week designation. Not sure how they decide those actions.
  22. I was surprised by Sanborn, T Smith, and James Lynch being cut. They did certain moves to be able to move players to IR short term and not expose certain players to waivers. So does anyone know , they are allowed to have two vets on the PS? I thought only 1st and 2st year players were allowed to be on it. I dont remember the rules. One thing I like about Poles is he has no problem moving on from draft mistakes of which he has many. Its about building the roster thru many avenues. 4 UDFAs making the team says a lot about our Scouting dept. We have 18 first and second year players on the team. Also we have coaches now that can develop players, never had that trust before.
  23. This one cat that does a lot of Bears vids said he and one other player will probably end up on IR tomorrow - and thought the same about that TE. And he thinks of the two vacated roster spots Sanborn will be called back to fill one.
  24. I saw that a lot of the ‘new’ players appear to be on defense. Pretty significant overhaul there.
  25. A few changes are coming for sure. Being a playoff caliber team as well as one proven to give anyone a chance to earn a spot is going to pay dividends with our ability to attract talent for the practice squad.
  26. Rumor is the 4th te will likely get put on injured list. My guess is they want to sneak him onto roster and hide him into practice squad.
  27. We won our division last year and now we have 11 rookies on our 53. Four are UDFAs. 20% of the team has no NFL experience. It’s what you might expect during the first year of a rebuild.
  28. Sure but that player won’t likely be on the game day active list. You can always bring up a player from your PS when needed. Or has Hayden Large been some special teams standout we haven’t noticed?
