So I guess Roushar agrees with me on the bullrushes and Jones' overall performance Sunday.

2 CBs and 2 S's is what I saw. UDFA S Major Burns designated to IR and CB Shaun Wade to IR. A WR was cut too. I think it is to replace the two lost to injury and too look at more guys if T Johnson isn't looking as good as thought.
-
I know we've got some injuries to the CBs but we just added 4 safeties to our roster. Something is going to change on that depth chart. I hope Owens gets cut. I was hopeful for Tysheem Johnson was good enough to make the 53 but adding this much competition late in camp doesn't bode well for him.

ah i remember now, thank you. The Bears have had decades of decisions like that. I sure hope things are different now. Seems like it, but i wanna see it in regular season games, before I can truly believe.
-
He was pretty good, but didnt fit Poles requirements to keep. I think only because the Bears were in win now mode, they moved James Daniel to G and Cody Whitehair to C, such a dumb Bears move. If only they let them two develop at their more natural positions,we could have had a long term center and maybe a different Whitehair who didnt flip positions.
-
and i wonder, are they awful, or did we just have a terrible OL coach and scheme? Daniels is pretty good isnt he? or was for a minute after us at least?
-
For sure a dominant pass rusher is probably our biggest hole, maybe LT is. RB is next I agree. If we can get a good pass rush fromt he guys we have and our scheme, then this team can go as far as their learning curve takes them. if we dont have a reliable pass rush, then we can get to #8 or something but we will never beat the really good teams without one. If Booker is that guy, it seriously accelerates the plan and opens that SB contention window.

I said Jones did a good job on 66% (10/15) of his pass reps, and an even higher percentage of his run reps. I wasnt poking at you or anyone. Im not sure how my own analysis proved me incorrect tho? Ozzy didnt have problem with the speed rush, he had problems hand fighting against that chop move, thats what killed him on his bad reps? Anyway, we can disagree, that makes this board fun and challenges my ideas and I learn stuff too, so i appreciate your real take as well. But mine wasnt aimed at you, when I started I was expecting to be shown that my initial thoughts form casually watching the game were wrong, so i was actually following what you said in my own head as I started, but then I just made notes on each snap, and went where they took me? But even if we disagree on some of the bull rush snaps, surely you saw Jones get beat pretty badly to the outside and inside? He gave up a sack and two pressures even without the reps we disagreed on? And we can discount the bullrish reps, but i think everyone does know thats his weakness? Anyway Im no fan of Jones' thats for sure, and Ive said it for a while, but i am agnostic right now on Trapilo and Amagadje. I have some hopes and gut feelings about Trapilo, but one game of tape at LT isnt anywhere near enough for me to know anything much about him - only how he played that one day, against 2nd 3rd and 4th string guys. As for the false start, youre right it was close, and they didnt call it. Im not making much of how I feel about Jones based on that for sure.
-
Side note: there are three former Bears vying for an OL position with the Fins. James Daniels, Larry Borom and Germaine Ifedi.
-
Booker supposedly was nonchalant all TC but showed up Sunday. If he can build on this and bring it week after week, we may have that pass rusher that is not on paper. Just imagine if he becomes that, then I see Chicago going DT or even RB early 2026 draft.

We want the same thing. I respect and like most members of this board.(Including you). But, you did fully disagree with me when you stated that Jones was a mess on most of his snaps. You know you were poking and your own analysis proved you were incorrect. I thought they both decently, but flawed. Braxton has a lot of strength and agility to gain back, while Ozzy needs to prove he can stop the speed rush. They both have two weeks to work on the rough edges. This weeks game may be the actual decider. Lastly, nobody will ever call that a false start. It's too close...š

So just for the record Mongo, I didnt set out to agree or disagree with you, I just looked at the film and wrote down what i saw. I appreciate you calling me a master debater, but just so you know, I dont pick a side to be right, I try to just say what i think is right. I certainly wasnt trying to specifically say you are wrong. Scientists gather data and form conclusions, Laywers start from conclusions and find data to support their side. I like to think of myself as a scientist. I didnt have a preconceived notion when I started the analysis. In fact, when I saw the first couple of reps from Jones I thought "Hmmm Mongo is right, this will be interesting." Lastly I dont believe I have been anything but respectful to the members of this board other than Stinger. I wont go back into that of course, but i dont believe I have ever been disrespectful to you, or wanted to fight with you. Not saying you were disrepsectful here either - you werent! But Im not here to take positions so i can defend them. I just take positions I believe are true until i see otherwise. Lastly to Jones analysis, the two plays you didnt agree with me on were both bull rushes, and in each, Jones stayed in front of his man but got walked back into the pocket. he didnt get beat to either side i fully agree. I dinged Trapilo for a similar rep too. And one of the two reps I didnt even count as a losing rep, it wasnt in yellow. But even if you remove those snaps, Jones gave up a sack, and got beaten outside and inside, so I still stand by my analysis. But more importantly, I respect you and almost all the members of this board. And despite how Stinger and I go at it, I dont ever want anyone else to feel as if i am attacking them for sport. I dont do that. I just want the best guy at LT, and right now no one is the clear or obvious winner in that to my eyes. Trapilo has an edge based on the one preseason game I saw, but I havent seen the practices etc to know what the coaches do.
-
Gonna be harder to hold the ball in the pocket with two hands until he gets full strength back.
-
AZās skimmed down analysis. Trapillo is just stronger than Jones and it showed up everywhere. Most importantly to me is that Trapilo has quicker feet and heās better at taking baby steps to mirror pass rushers. Kinda surprising for a tall guy.
-
I think Braxton has given all he can. I know who he is, and who he isnt. Trapilo on the other hand, is raw and less known. I dont know it I will like Trapilo or not. In 6 months I could be calling for his head, or calling him a stud - I dont know. If Amagadle is better, then i want him out there. This isnt about having a favorite, or wanting to be right (I dont think Ive even said Trapilo is good yet?) I just think Braxton is fatally flawed, and we need to move on from him. Is Trapilo or Amagadje ready to do better there? I dont know yet.
-
Nah, I tried to do it fairly, because like I said, I want the best guy out there. As for calling Trapilo early, if you go back I said I had a gut feeling, but no evidence, so i wasnt calling him at all? This isnt about trying to be right - its about trying to get it right. Also, I said if they were close Trapilo would get the nod. Neither of them looked great. As for the false start, it absolutely was, you can see it ont he film easily. Not that it mattered, because it wasnt called, but it is there, and i wouldnt make a decision on it anyway? But no, I wasnt using language to slyly try to prove anyone wrong. When i finished my Jones analysis, I didnt think Trapilo was going to be any better, having remembered his bad reps from when I watched the game. i was surprised in analysis at all the good reps between. Basically, Jones got burned a bunch of different ways, and Trapilo got burned the same way each time. Thats what I saw. But no tit for tat or jumping into lanes. I just saw what I saw, and I took the time to write it all down. And the verbiage I chose was just what I wrote down as I saw it - my actual product here is the analysis above the notes. The notes were just for me, and i included them so you could see my thought process.

Jorden Love is having surgery on his hand torn tendons in the thumb. On his left thumb.

I understand, and agree in both contexts and cant wait for his 500 word essay explaining why you dont understand what he is trying to say. Never read his long replays to answering anything , it is just repeated words he already used. My notation of Adam was just sarcasm on him having both positive and negative on the same subject. I try to fit humor in some of my responses but it doesnt always get noticed as humor.
-
I don't think you understand. The bias wasn't his opinion. It was the verbiage he chose. Leading context is a political ploy. PHX knows exactly what he's doing as he a master debater with a firm grasp of the English language and I respect him for that. But him jumping in my swimming pool to convince you that I don't know what I'm talking about deserved the rebuttal it received. Context is always key. I'll also add that I don't have skin in the game regarding who wins the job, as I like them both for it. The only ones I'll argue against are Benedet and Kiran. PHX called Trapilo too early and I'm gonna have fun with it till it's decided. And your claim that Adam is the only one without bias is pure bullshit. I've called him out many times for it, as he has me. That's what we are here for. I can also assure you that this will not go unanswered by PHX. He's in his lair formulating his rebuttal as we speak...š„š» Bear down!

Everyone has bias. Members on this site always favor the redderick about the Bears. People I may have liked in the draft, I have a tendency to root for, people I didnt like , I tend to look for negative reviews. 5 people can look at a rep and have different opinions about it. You cant argue sacks and penalites but can assign blame to a QB or OL, or bad play call. Nobody likes PFF very much but they just look at every rep, and assign a grade. The bias is in how they grade a rep. On the rep the defender took the inside lane on Braxton, he blew it but the timing of the play got us a TD. You can scheme a bad OL play where it doesnt affect the outcome. So in my outlook, it didnt matter he blew it. On a personal grade for Braxton, worse play of the day for him. IMO, the only person on here that is somewhat lacking bias is Adam, he is critical and praise a player sometimes in the same post.

I'll start by saying, nice format for your analysis. I like the down distance and time stamp. Really good viewing. On to the play: That play was completely by design. I don't know what the pros call it, but we called it a chip screen. Won rep. He absorbed the contact and maintained leverage. Won rep. Not a false start. Not walked back. See above... It's obvious in your wording that you have a bias. It's ok in a debate, but I don't do that when analyzing. I only rebutted the first three that you highlighted. Can't swallow any more of it. What really concerns me about your analysis is that I really don't believe you understand wins and losses in the trenches. It's hard in there. They are playing against nasty humans that are designed to defeat what you are doing. I didn't realize this was going to be a "tit for tat" but, you jumped in my lane with an agenda.
-
I dont think (didnt care ) comes into play. Fatigue is the most logical choice. He is fighting to keep his starting job. He wouldnt be on the field if the team thought he didnt care.
-
Great breakdown @BearFan PHX Braxton looked terrible in his last few snaps. He was either tired or didn't care, either way, that was concerning to see. My biggest concern for him is when he loses a rep, he really loses it like 100-0, and the QB gets killed. Trapilo may lose a rep, but he doesn't leave a direct path to the QB.
