  2. I think or hope the talk will get better in the next 5 or so days. The Bears are wrapping up their scouting now and will be finishing their rankings next week, then they start doing their own mocks to set some odds on how they feel it will fall. I think this board has covered players or scenarios and are probably as clueless as you can be since we are down the board for once. We know the position needs, assume what players fit, but we know a knuckle ball will be thrown at some point.
  3. This is a decent team filler draft but it's not looking like an all-pro type. I can see the Bears moving up to 10-15 if a player like S Caleb Downs goes that far or Edge David Bailey. I think it will be hard to move down because I see most teams looking for that opportunity. A top 10-12 team might want more picks if they are rebuilding.

Teams want out of the top ten but who wants in. This is not a good draft among top ten. At almost any position you could trade back 10 picks and get similar talent. Mendoza being the exception and he doesn’t really have to 5 talent. https://www.profootballrumors.com/2026/04/giants-eyeing-trade-down-move-from-no-5-other-teams-interested-in-trading-back#ref=home
  6. Damn, I hate the off-season. I want football! Not countless articles with clickbait and rumors.; On Good Morning Football this morning, they mentioned that the record for most passing yards in a single NFL game is 554, set by Norm Van Brocklin of the Los Angeles Rams on September 28, 1951, against the New York Yanks. This record has stood for over 70 years. 25 times in NFL history has a quarterback reached 500+ passing yards in a game. But the record still stands. Caleb has said he wants to be the G.O.A.T. - There is a goal for him to achieve. Caleb throws for 555 yards against the Green Bay Packers, who, of course, will find a reason to throw some shade. Okay, I did mention I am bored. ;-)

  8. I watch a lot of podcasts, bears related, and it bugs me with all these pundits that think they're experts on draft prospects. How much actual time do they put in evaluating prospects? I think they read a lot of other people's information and then they watch 4 or 5 games? Hundreds of prospects they can't have the time to do that. People like Dane Brugler actually has a network and puts in the time so I trust his opinion more. I don't agree with everything and he's not always accurate but has more input to make better evaluations. I'll watch 2 or 3 games and highlights films but no way I think I'm smarter than the people that put in the time. Also a lot of people use PFF for much of their view. PFF has some input but you just can't use that for perspective. It's funny to me that Dane rates a player at 49 and then some pundits think they are 25 valued. Some may very well put in the time but it's hard to figure out who is guessing and who actually does it. I keep everyone's opinions at bay but trust a few over most other people. I think the bears are more in on some of their own players than most of the fandom. Example, they will count on Turner much more than fans that write him off because he was injured. So when I evaluate I figure what they have and who they might pick.
  9. This rumor is false, we did not contact the Giants. It was started by a Packers fan trolling the fandom. Lots brought in to it.
  10. There are better options. Good against the run? The Giants' defense struggled against the run with him in the lineup. Sacks? Pressure? He had 1/2 of a sack last year. Questions about his conditioning and motor. Doesn't sound like someone I would invest big bucks and draft capital for.
  11. Never thought of watching last year draft. Good idea. I think unless a top 20 player drops, we trade back for that extra top 100 pick. Basically 20 to 75 are all in the same talent scope. Now some will emerge and some won't pan out. Poles could draft a player at 57 that could be top 40 value, stuff like that. It's about identifying talent and by last year results is looking like they know what their doing. Do not count out Turner, Hyppolite, or Frazier. I think Newman has already shown some talent to maybe be a starter when our IOL move on. Also players like Dushon Wright, Demarco Jackson, Walker, Theo, McFadden all contributed with no expectations.

Also remember that as much as Poles talked about BPA, he also very clearly has position targets. I rewatched the Bears post draft video again recently and there’s a clip from in the draft room where he talks about how a trade down gives them the extra picks to address LB, DB, RB, and G day three, which is exactly what they end up doing. Now we don’t know what his targets will be, but that suggests that will be as much of a driver as pure BPA.
  13. Many people think his is the most prolific draft guide. He's not 100% perfect but he gives you lots of information that gives you a good look at prospects. I looked at his top 100 and unless players like Theinaman, Faulk drop we will probably stay at 25 but I totally think when we didn't get the comp pick, we will be trading back. Lots of good players of need in the second round range. I think S, DE, CB and DT are in play. Drop back and Young, Lawrence, and Jacas are in play. After the first 2 Ss, Stukes, Bud Clark and Kilgore are in play late in that round. I think DT will be scheme fit over NT types . Those are in third round territory. Halton, Kaleb Proctor, Zane Durant and Rene Konga
  14. Agree with most your takes. I read Danes profile on Proctor and he is not a instant day one starter. Being drafted that high will make him one but has raw traits and will take a year to develop his skills. If he has to be developed, I don't see us taking as a short term player, although long term he could have pro bowl upside. People talk about BPA but when teams do their big board, needs are taken in to account. Let's say a #4 WR is there and. #5 DE, I think they would choose a need.

  16. This one is excellent too, although because it has a "fantasy" slant, he only does offensive skill positions. Still, his insights into those players are really good and he has a long track record of predicting things correctly, even that go against the grain of common wisdom. https://mattwaldmanrsp.com/

Some random thoughts on roster going into the draft: QB - Seems to be set RB - Maybe use one of those 7th round picks on a guy you like, as they had success there with Monongai, but I don't see a great need. Swift and Monongai are pretty good, Roschon Johnson has been injured but is useful if healthy, and there were preseason flashed from both Brittan Brown and Deion Hankins where I'm fine with them on the practice squad for emergencies. WR - I see as a bigger potential need/target. You only really have two semi-proven guys in Odunze and Burden, and all it takes is an injury to one of those guys (and both had injuries last year) and you are using Raymond or Walker at WR2. Loveland will get snaps at WR which maybe lessens the need, but a pick in the 2/3 range would not shock me, someone who can potentially work inside and outside like Germie Bernard. Ben likes his toys. TE - Loveland and Kmet will get a bunch of snaps and targets. You have Carlson as a blocker. If you like someone late either as a better blocking specialist or as a swiss army knife type (like Dan Villari that they brought in for a visit recently), I would have no problem with that. OT - There seems to be a fair amount of 1st round OT smoke with the Bears with names like Kadyn Proctor and Blake Miller being thrown around, but I don't really see it. Maybe if you get extra picks and you want to spend a mid-round pick on a guy with extended college experience at LT to give you another potential option (Kage Casey, Jude Bowry, etc.), but it seems like you have a competition between Jones, Benedet, and Willis set up. OG - Don't really see much of a need here. The caveat is if they see Luke Newman as the heir apparent at C - remember the Bears brass were talking about him as a center right after they drafted him, but I think during the season he worked more at G. But McFadden was brought back and did pretty well when asked at the end of the year and Newman looked promising. C - Makes a lot of sense to draft the heir apparent at C (unless it's Newman). There's like, literally ten centers that are bunched up in the middle rounds in this unusually deep center draft that I would have no problem with the Bears taking, so whoever and whenever they decide to address that is fine with me as long as it gets done. DT - Do the Bears have elite guys here? Probably not. But I don't quite get this as a big need. You got rid of your biggest underachiever from last year (Billings). Dexter was pretty good and is back. You brought in three new DTs who figure to make the roster and get snaps (Gallimore, Street, Lynch). Then you have Shemar Turner hopefully healthy and I think he makes more sense in the mix at DT than DE. Maybe if there is a 3T you love the value on you take him, but this is more of a NT draft and that doesn't seem to be the type of DT that appeals to Dennis Allen (I truly don't know what to make of the recent visit by Kayden McDonald but it's notable I guess that maybe they are looking beyond those historical trends). DE - You need some new blood. Ideally in the 1st or 2nd because after that you might as well just play Austin Booker more. Dayo is probably back and can't possibly be worse (right?) and maybe Shemar gets some snaps here. LB - I think I'm good here. Edwards and Bush will start with a nickel or D'Marco Jackson most of the time and Sanborn, Hyppolite, and a (hopefully) healthy Sewell are decent depth. Maybe there's a speedy guy they love like Kyle Louis but I would not make it a priority in the draft myself. CB - #2 CB is the biggest Bears need not enough people are talking about. You have guys to play nickel (Gordon, Lewis, Blackburn) but on the outside Stevenson is coming off a down year and Smith and Frazier are big question marks after they missed most of last year. It's a deep CB draft (and good draft for the bigger press corners DA seems to favor) but historically you can't plan on getting a starting caliber CB as a rookie much past the first round or two. I think guys like Colton Hood, Chris Johnson, Brandon Cisse, and Treydan Stukes are real 1/2 round possibilities. S - The other glaring need as the Bears don't seem to have a starting caliber safety on the roster next to Bryant. But this is a deep safety draft and you can historically draft a potential first year starter into the 3rd and maybe even 4th round. I can see Poles not buying into the value of a first round safety unless maybe Thieneman is there (I don't think he will be) so we might be looking at guys like Kilgore, Clark, Ramsey, Wheatley in the 2-4 round range. But seems to me you have to get someone who can at least potentially if not probably start as a rookie.
  18. IMO. The best draft guide available, and free. Dane Brugler publishes this annually, and it is about as detailed a breakdown as you will find anywhere. The Beast - Complete Interactive Online Publication
  19. I second that. If they add a NT, maybe go McDonald in the draft, but highly unlikely since they will run more wide/double 3T fronts than fronts w NT.
  20. No thanks

I don’t see it. I know he’s a good tackler but I don’t think he’s big enough for safety. More of a nickel if anything, though I think he could survive in the outside.
  22. How will this defense look if every position has speed injected? I looked up Sweat and didn't realize he ran a 4.42 40. Gervon Dexter ran a 4.88 40. Grady Jarrett 5.06 40 Austin Booker 4.79 40 We already have some speed on the line and Jarrett will be gone after this year. Very interested to see DA run his defense.
  23. That makes sense. Or just drop rule all together. They should be forced to honor the policy or change it.
  24. The new name some bears fans want is Dexter Lawrence.. He had 1/2 sack last year. The next two years he will get 54 mil at 29 and the reason he wants to be traded is he wants more money. He is a better player than any DT we have but at 6'4" and 330. Ran a 5 05 40. Not sure that fits the new speed scheme.
  25. I have seen some pundits say he will play S in the pros? I think he is too small for that. What say you
  26. dawhizz replied to Stinger226's topic in Bearstalk
Saw Keionte Scott today, CB from Miami.
  27. What is absolutely crazy about this is if Cunningham goes to another team to be the GM (the same position he is now), but doesn't have a President of Football Operations over him, the Falcons would get comp picks. If the league really cared about any of this, they would require teams to be structured the same way, just like they do for players and the roster limits. To me, they should force all teams to make the GM the head football guy, and they can make as many fake positions they want around that position, but that one is the head football decision maker. If they add a President, it is not recognized by the league.

So far: Jager Burton/ center Kayden McDonald/ NT Zion Young/ edge De'Zfaun Stribling/WR Jimmy Rolder/ LB Seth McGowan/RB Antererio Washington/DT Max Iheanachor/RT Brian Parker/OL/C Dan Villari/TE James Brockermeyer/center Jimmy Rolder/LB This is all I can find so far. Anyone know of anyone else? It has been reported that they only bring in players that they have questions about. Then decide if they don't or do want them. It has been reported that every pick we took last year came in for a visit. Also they are not required to report all visits and tell some agents not to talk about it. Local school and Chicago people get to come in that don't get applied to the 30 visit list unless they want to. I don't think any 30 visit is a smoke screen action. I think they may like or dislike a player and we don't know the answer. So far 3 centers and 3 DL if that may disclose positions of interest.
