The Bears signed and UDFA today to a 3 year contract. Miles Murphy, has litteraly played every position on the OL. His first year is the only year with 267,000 guaranteed money. I still find it interesting that they gave him a 3 yr contract. OT?OG?OC?

I like this draft class a lot. I don’t see any big risk or gamble although many felt that Xavion was. I think his versatility from special teams through RB That’s not to put him as a starter but rather a guy who can contribute in every game in different ways. He won’t be Hester on returns but he’ll be good. He’ll be much better as an offensive player than Hester. I think that is 3rd Rd value. Every pick I feel confident can play up to their draft round status or better. The real cherry on top would be if Jordan van den Berg can develop into a good rotational DT.

There are only so many chips you can gamble with and we will find out if they played them right or not. The Bears only absolute need was S, and that was addressed with a 1st round and FA. Other positions needed upgrades, we will see if FAs and coaching can improve those.

If that's the case, I would be ecstatic. This years draft did provide situational talent that only teams with good depth can pull off. I love that we got faster and younger, all over the place, in FA and the draft.

It is the silence before the storm. This team still has deficiencies especially on edge, but I think the guys they added inside will help improve the front overall. The plus is the next draft has some better talent in that department that fit our profile type. If the Bears are pushing super, imagine the future with this young core and the players they can add. The league will steal their staff and copy their process.

I agree with your analysis. I dread this time of year, the month before the players report to put their pads back on to prepare for the season to begin. I truly believe we are going to improve over last year. Should be "Super" ;-)

The 2026 Bears rookie class could be one of their best as a whole. They added levels of talent to both offense and defense. There is a good chance this class along with some UDFAs contribute early and become playmakers on a team loaded with young talent. Thieneman has elite athleticism and instincts. He will be a playmaker especially paired with Bryant. Add Muhammad who will compete with Stevenson or maybe play NB if Gordon misses time. They are lining him both inside and out in OTAs. Van Den Berg and Elliott might see time in rotations, but have more competition to fight thru to find opportunities, but should find roles. On offense, we have one of the best minds in the league. His choices of players from the 2025 draft seem genius. I think he sees this crops potential as well. Logan Jones may not start, but should become a top tier Center. Sam Rousch, this kid is big, athletic, smart, and driven. He will turn into another fan favorite and become a scary dual with Loveland. Zavion Thomas has special speed that will be used on ST and all over on offense. Ben Johnson will find ways to implement them. It is going to get real exciting in a couple of weeks when camp opens. Attention to Caleb's accuracy, Burden and Odunze stepping up for DJ, Braxton at LT, the re-tooled D-Line, Jalen and Kylers comeback, new Safeties, gives a lot to watch and discuss. Kiran hasn’t found a way on the field. Pretty sure that ship has sailed. Trade him to Dallas who is desperate for LT help.

Joking My opinion is Braxton starts the season and when Ozzy is ready, they will compete. If Braxton isnt playing well, Ozzy will probably be replacing a different LT but will be working back into the starter role. Why Braxton: Healthy for a year now Playing for a contract Working with Armsted has to be a positive. I will also say that Theo and believe it or not Kiran can figure in the mix somewhere.

If Caleb gets his Comp% over 65%, that wouldn't just make him above average, that would make him arguably the best QB in the league. He already is in the top 10 in basically every other major stat (7th in Pass Yds, 6th in Pass TDs, 1st in INTs) which doesn't even include the heroics. Stafford won the MVP and AP and had the 17th highest Comp%. I really feel like people are splitting hairs on this. Does he need to improve his accuracy, absolutely, but he is not THAT bad. Remember sacks and TTT were the big issues his rookie year. He was holding onto the ball too much and taking too many sacks. He went from historically bad to historically good in one offseason. I bet his Comp% will do the same. Caleb gave us some easy math because he attempts 33 passes a game. So to increase his Comp% by 3%, all he would need to do is complete one extra pass per game. So to get him to 64%, that is one extra completion per half. If they want him to hit his goal of 70%, that is just under 4 extra completions per game or 2 per half. Caleb led the league with 40 throwaways, just say he cuts that down by 10 by either running or by completing a pass. Now say the receivers don't drop the 3rd most in the NFL, and that gets cut down by 10 for the season. We are now down to 2.5 completions per game or 1.25 per half. So 1.25 extra completions magically turns him into the best QB in the league? Also, on a side note, did everyone forget some of the weather games the Bears played in? Holy crap, the PHI game was ridiculous, then there seemed to be several extreme cold games the Bears had to play in. No need for a money bet and the logistics that go with it, but we can make that bet here, and the loser has to say they lost? And I'll tell you what - IF hes still out there and IF I think hes better than what Ive seen from him before and getting the job done, Ill be HAPPY to lose. Im not saying thats impossible, I cant see the future, but from what ive seen previously of him, I can make that bet.

The links I saw (looked for after you mentioned this so thank you) all had him doing upper body, and that makes sense, but i dunno where his return is projected at at this point. He does and the Bears do, but we dont for obvious reasons. I just hope its earlier than we think. That would be amazing. In the meanwhile I trust Theo Benedet to hold down the fort. I think they will start with Braxton unless or until he proves that he is still a victim of that bull rush, but personally, I think by week 4 it won't be Jones, and maybe even week 1.

I see the link from X doesnt work but it has him moving pretty good. The sooner he is back the better, we need to get a player established at LT. I am hopeful Braxton, Kiran, or Willis can hold it down and make a name for themselves because we need to get a great start for the line and Caleb.

When I first read what Schlereth said, I thought "what an idiot" - everyone here knows what a Caleb supporter I am. I think we are looking at an actual star in the making. But then I heard what he meant by the comment, and I have to say I agree with him. Caleb does need to play small ball better, and I expect he will this year. Johnson isnt force feeding the offense and concentrating on footwork now. He will be there focused on exactly this goal. Id bet heavily that it will happen. Now Kyler Murray? No. Thats idiotic. But Caleb, who already excels at the hardest and rarest skills, will now develop the ordinary things that lots of QBs can learn. No reason to think he wont, and when he does he will truly be a top QB, maybe the best. And Schlereth said that too, but it doesnt get repeated as much, because of narratives. And Im no Schlereth supporter either. I dont particularly pay attention to him positively or negatively. But this whole hullabaloo is kind of fake. But Kyler Murray? Ha no that was idiotic.

It wasn’t just the criticism of things Caleb needs to improve. It was the list of QBs in his draft class that Schlereth said are already playing at that high level. Which is complete BS. I watched Bo Nix and he’s not always seeing the field well. He’s quicker to run than Caleb. It’s more of the same with all the QBs in the draft class. He just singled out Caleb.

Schlereth will be exposed as an idiot when Caleb is in the running for league MVP for 2026. Caleb has been quoted as saying that criticism doesn't bother him and that he uses it as motivation. If that is true, with all of the jerks questioning his ability, Caleb should be well motivated.
