If you’re differentiating that a majority of FAs are as you suggest, to “fill holes” then maybe. Same goes for drafted players…most of the time. If you happen to draft (let’s say) 10 players one year, maybe only 3 will contribute (right away) where the others might stick around and ‘fill holes’ until the next draft.

Baltimore is always looked at as a well run team and think his health has to come into play to look this dumb in front of NFL teams. I guess you don't sign papers until today so nothing is guaranteed yet. Yes no one is going to pass a physical coming out of surgery but it's a red flag when it's his 8th knee surgery. Now if it comes down to one first and whatever then maybe Poles will be interested. We just don't know the medical, with a big contract, you don't want to take that big of a risk. That may be a trade that's made right before the draft so they know his health will be good going forward. Parsons was coming off of back problems when he got traded which never go away. ( personal experience) And he ended up getting injured during the year. I think GB may end up regretting that trade.

I would say we have only signed 2 starters so far unless you consider Jackson a starter as the third LB. Bush and Bryant. What I'm saying is I think that's where they will end up. Turner was seeing DE snaps before the injury and Dayo plays more effectively inside as stated by some pundits. I think both will be looked at movable players.

well said. Every year teams sign $5M to $10M a year players to plug holes before the draft so you dont have to reach for positions and can take close to BPA. Then some of those players will end up playing the same position as the $5M/yr free agent, and can push them to start during camp or during the year. the $20M+ guys are the supposed impact players, and some are, others are retreads, but you always overpay for them. That doesnt mean they arent worth paying sometimes, but it depends on a lot of things including whether your SB window is open, or if you have tons of cap room. But mostly, like you said, free agents generally arent the people to come fix your team, but to fill holes so you can draft more freely.

I think the CB room is pretty full with Cam Lewis coming in board. The forgotten Terrell Smith will be back and a healthy Gordon and JJ. They had the chance to resign Wright and decided not to so they must like Lewis.

BJ likes him and he had 43 receptions one year under Ben. Free agents have a tendency to be paid more each year. Lots of contracts say that. With Walker and Raymond the WR room is almost done. I expect a draft pick added.

We need bodies so these signings are popping up that may not make the final roster. Lewis was signed for 2 years and will take the Gardner- Johnson role of playing several positions.
