Should have taken Simmons, killing it at KC. Afraid bc of his injury but the guy has feet. - Today

I"m not that worried about LT because at least there are 4 options roughly as good as Braxton Jones so I know what the floor is. Can we make it better than that? I sure hope so but as Ben Johnson said today it might take some time, even into the season to get it right. Ben was clear about Ozzy that he's too slow off the snap, but he's much better at RT. He likely has good enough traits to get where we need him to be but switching from RT to LT hasn't been as easy as hoped. Ben likes what Theo has done at RT and decided to try him at LT but again it's going to take him time to adjust. It'll be interesting to see him this weekend. Kiran is just a wildcard...there was no mention of what they think of him. My biggest concern with Braxton is the mental lapses where he gets beaten very early in the snap. It's one thing to lose the rep 2s into the play, another to lose inside 1s. His good plays are acceptable but I suspect at minimum Ben wants to find a more consistent floor or Caleb is going to come out of the some the play action fakes and get leveled.

this sounds all correct. Its so late in the year for not knowing who your LT is.

That won't happen at this point of camp. Just listened to a great interview with Thayer and he was on top of everything. Starting with Braxton, he said he probably won't be at full strength until after the bye. He was also critical of him, saying he hasn't put in the necessary work in the weigh room in previous seasons. This year is the anomaly, due to the injury. But do we trust that he'd do the hard work for the new staff? Trust me, leg day is the least popular day in the gym. He stated that Thuney is the best left tackle on the team as of now, but doesn't want him in their until all else fails. That's why it's won't be Wright. Lastly, he discussed the reps situation with the team. New system and new cadence is going to take around another 2500 reps to get it locked in, so he expects the playbook to be simpler the first couple of weeks. The linemen and receivers are committing a high level of false starts and illegal motion penalties as a result. They have Caleb mixing up his inflections and that is the cause. The rest of the offense needs to remember the snap count and not the inflection. Side note: They had Mike Tirico on before Thayer and he thinks all four teams can compete for the division and/or the playoffs. He was also at practice and said Caleb looked better than last year and overall good. All of this info can be heard on the ESPN Chicago app. Waddle and Silvey show between 3 and 4 Chicago time.

Ive wondered this since the day we drafted Trapilo. Im not a fan of moving people around, but i can also understand this move - but better to have done it in June, so i think its not likely? Probably more a matter of seeing how Trapilo would be as a swing tackle?

I spend $10 a month to get their content. Hes Ok this time of year, but before the draft they break down HOURS of tape on players and the commentary is amazing. They usually do entire halves of games, often 5 or 6 games, so you can see the players in context, not just highlights. Also, once the season starts they do amazing tape analysis on the games too, with a special look at the OL, since his Dad was a college OL coach, and two of his uncles were coaches in the NFL and at least one was a head coach. Shayne Marshaw is also great with the roster move stuff. There is no doubt Phil is abrasive, and spends too much time on himself, and how the show battles people, but when there is analysis, it is top notch!

If they dont like his play at RT, why would they flip him?
-
The downfall is it doesn’t sound like Wright is shining either.
-
The real wild card is at some point does Wright flip to LT and we see Trapillo at RT.
-
If no one has been singled out that means no one has been good enough. I think next week, he will pick someone and roll with it ,good or bad. How are you watching practice? Or just videos after the practice?
-
I thought about it, but our schedule brutal. Two ifs: Caleb, LT...

I have already bet 100 on draftkings website that was 8.5 line for wins. I am actually more confident now that I have seen what kind of coach BJ is. Will it have a rough start, yes, will it be rolling the second half of the season. I believe so. 10 oe 11 could be the ceiling. Gambling is always a risk, each game bets will be determined by how we progress thru the season. Now is not the time to bet games. Injuries always come into play through out a full season. Our team or our opponent. We will have a few disappointments and a few surprises over our schedule but you have to take in consideration, we are only going to get better as we go forward. IMO -
Today's practice tweets didn't look good for Braxton. Gave up a sack on an ugly rep and got blown up on a run play. Didn't hear anything on Ozzy. Benedet got a lot of time with the first team. BJ said the battle is wide open and doesn't seem happy about it.

Scrolling through some of the tweets from practice today, it seems like it was a better day for the offense than the joint practices against Miami, but LT has become a major bottleneck for their ability to sustain drives. Way too many false starts and sacks given up. Braxton Jones with another subpar practice. On the positive side, OZ keeps making plays as WR3. Another 40+ yard TD reception in one of the final 11 on 11 drills today, and the Caleb/Rome connection is apparently red hot right now. Multiple TD's for Rome in team drills on the day. Oh, and Shamar Turner came back to practice, which is good to see.

First time watching TTNL and I enjoyed Phil, he tells you how it is. Like it or not, there is no grey area.

Go through the schedule and tell me how many wins you feel good enough to bet $100 on. I come up w 6, maybe 7. Just because we have improvements doesnt mean the tough schedule got easier. Just being realistic since I have had high hopes every year. -
Adam send a league invite to Scott Seacrist/ ScottSeacrist@yahoo.com The My Team Sucks team is my friends (mike) and I will change to his email on that team. I talked to Chad Capes, and he is getting back in it, if he hasnt responded to the league reset

Yeah, people do not give Williams enough credit for what he pulled off last year under those conditions. 3 losses were directly related to late-game coaching blunders. Besides the HC stuff, Williams had to deal with Waldron and then Brown as the OC/Playcaller. The other piece is play design. Waldron didn't scheme guys open. I still think 7 wins is the absolute floor with this O-Line, even if the LT situation is not rock solid yet. WR Corps is better, TE Corps is better, RB Corps looks better with Monangai, DTs are better, LBs look improved due to position swap, and the secondary was always a strength when healthy.

We were a 5 win team last year with terrible coaching, a rookie QB, and dysfunctional OL. At some point the players quit on Flus. There was a few more wins we could have had .( Hail Mary) This year we have a 100% upgrade in coaching, 3 new starters on the OL, a QB with talent and added talent upgrade. To think we will win the same number of games as we did last year doesnt seem very logical. I think our floor is 9 and celing of 12? -

We can very well see a 5 or 6 win team. That's why this team needs to put it together and fast. After Sunday, they better have the starting oline set. This is football and they are professionals, they should know the game and the technical crap they had to improve on should be worked out. Like Braxton had it nipped Friday but reverted back to his old ways Sunday. Now Darnell is getting called out for being lazy, he got the same warning when Ben took the job and rode his high horse into camp. As for Caleb, it is time to shine. I want to see a scripted 1st series and he nails it. Move the ball and get points 3 or 6. - Last week

Some good coaches play their players a lot in the preseason and some do not. I would prefer lots of reps but Im just a fan. This is BJs first year and we have to wait and see how it all turns out. I think it will be rough in the begining but by our bye week we should start to show progress. Week 5 is the bye week.
