I Iike it because all these bear journalists pushing for lindenbaum got a slap in the face on a Cap cost move that fits in. Great move on Poles part. If he can understand the multiple schemes that Ben likes to use, even better. Correct, Johan Jackson didn't look good from his previous year but he turned into a healthy baller. They will not on everything but they are targeting players and we get to see how that turns out. I don't know how good Bradbury is but like PHX said, screw PFF, no sacks no penalties and 20 pressures seems like great numbers to me.

First of all, I only form opinions by what I digest in the football realm. I don't know anything for sure but guess by forming that opinion. Just like everyone else on here. In not going after either Tyler or Connor that suggests they are making cap friendly moves. Could they sign a big dollar guy, of course but I don't think they are. We don't know what they value people on their current roster but we do know until they trade someone or restructure contracts they don't have a lot of money right now. Lots of people have given different numbers on cap space but I think around 32 mil seems the most accurate. We just subjected 5.7 mil off of that amount. We will need operating capital and about a 13 mil rookie pool. I'm not good at math but it doesn't seem we have a lot of money to fill a lot of positions. Those are future costs but it does say to me we aren't making any big money deals.

I have never heard her sight a source so I assume her take are by pundits she trusts. She works for ESPN so I think her information comes from there. I actually think the trade for Bradbury tells me they are being mindful what they spent on center - which to me tells me they are potentially looking at making a double digit per year signing somewhere (or acquiring a double digit contract).

I figure they made the move to put Thuney at LT in the NFC Championship game. It tells me they probably don't have a ton of confidence in the in-house solutions (including Braxton). With Decker out there and Trent Williams potentially there - certainly see a scenario where front office and coaching staff said - lets go upgrade the LT position, knowing any of those moves are short-term measures but elevate the room while buying time to evaluate Trapillo in the long run. I also wonder how Benedet would fit at a guard position over time - he looked very athletic and was great in run-blocking.

Very fair - I do think this offensive coaching staff gets a bit of the benefit after last season. Heck - out of the gate people didn't like the Jonah move - but it looked good in hindsight (or at least after the 1st year). Maybe this is a better scheme fit plus helps allow Poles to attack some other fronts.

I also missed that it was a pick next year. Feels we can't look at this in a vaccuum and got to see how the broader off-season plays out. Might just help them know they have one part situated (or at least an option) that then enables them to be more comfortable with some other moves. Even if that is - this allows them to basically assess Newman as the center while knowing they have a potential fall back plan. Knowing that may mean they go aggressive at an LT or Hendrickson or something else.

You are correct none of us know anything. Until they do something, we can only assume they fix any position in house. I have read several people that said his injury could be faster recovery but that is just an opinion with Ozzy. I think what will let us know is by their actions. If they don't bring in a FA but re-sign Braxton that makes a statement. They could draft a LT at 25 but that answer is 6 weeks away. I think they might do both,cover themselves with Braxton or another FA and draft one but maybe not at 25. What I think this means is we are not spending big money on a LT in free agency. The signing of Bradbury shows they are making cap type choices. Poles can surprise us , the Bradbury move was out of left field.

I think one thing we are overlooking is how smart he is. His successful qbs were Maye and Cousins. They wanted someone that can help Caleb run the offense. They targeted him and he is cheap. Money always matters.

He is also half the price of at least Tyler Biadasz for a 2027 5th which is equivalent to a current year 6th.

I think youre making assumptions but there is no actual info yet on what we will do at LT. Im surely not saying i know anything about what they will do - the best Ive got is to look at some of the options that i am aware of. But for example, i didnt have any IDEA that we might trade for the Center from NE until it was announced, so i dont think any of us can truly know. So for Mongo to say he thinks that is totally fine - that's all any of us can do, but to take the statement from Roushar like it means we wont be looking at LT? I dunno about that. It didnt sound like a fact as much as a pat answer so as not to tip his hand. COULD we end up with Benedet at LT? Sure. But I dunno if we are at the point where we know anything for sure yet? Also I doubt highly that Trapilo could be back after 6 weeks? If you have a link Id love to read it, but my understanding is that it takes a lot longer for that heal. You gotta figure between BJ and Roushar that they know what theyre doing. Also, PFF is random, and i put no faith in anything they say positive or negative. Theyre the ones that said Charles Leno was a top ten LT LOL And I dont mean they predicted that during the draft, I mean they RATED him that during those seasons where he was absolute trash for us. PFF means nothing.

I don't really get why they are giving up a 5th round pick here? He's a former first round pick (I believe), but other than that I don't know much about him. How are you rated 30th on PFF but give up 0 and 0. If he actually is a top 12 center than I stand correct and am fine with it, but in general, these doesn't seem like the type of player we should be giving up a 5th round pick for.

I was curious about this when I first heard about the trade and yup sure enough. They were college buds when they played together at NC State in 2015. Bradbury was originally selected by Minnesota in the first round of the 2019 draft.

Hes getting kinda old, so Im thinking like AZ54 is on this one - maybe he wants a ring? We arent gonna play him $20M, Id be very surprised at that, so he'd have to know that. Im just guessing here that if he was gonna stay on a team that isnt going to contend he wanted the money, but he might play cheaper for us? As for Byard, I totally agree with you Mongo, he did get exposed last year. I can see us keeping him for a year or two, but we absolutely need to get younger and faster on D, and Byard wont be here in 3 years, and possibly leaving sooner than that even.
