  2. One thing Poles said in his presser, that I found interesting, was that every Superbowl winning team has a stud defensive tackle. Looking back at it, his comment was correct. DT not EDGE.
  3. Today

  4. No I think we need a couple players but none of them are on offense. That is set, for now. Of the two we need on defense one of them was a Pro Bowl caliber DT. We just went beyond that and got an All Pro Hall of Fame caliber DT in his prime. With that we no longer need an elite edge rusher. We still need good DEs who can contain the pocket and provide run support, and catch a QB who has to move off his spot, but we’ve got plenty of them. Everyone knows the Rams had Aaron Donald as their premiere pass rusher on their Superbowl team but who were the DEs? Simmons is better than an elite pass rusher like MIcah Parsons because he's also elite against the run. It is fair to assume we’d likely use next year’s 1st Rd pick on a DT. We just did that. Then we pulled forward the skill and experience it takes a player years to learn by using our next 1st Rd pick and now get to see the benefits a season earlier. We need another blue chip player in the defensive backfield…and we’ve got him stashed on IR returning soon. Like any team there will be needs over the next two seasons but they can be addressed with the picks we have. Adding CBs, OG to replace Thuney, DT and DE depth can all be done with day 2 picks, or some vet FA pickups. We will be a destination place for good vets who want a shot at a ring and are willilng to play on a below market salary.
  5. I still think it is wild that no team has ever traded for an All-Pro the year after they had those honors since Eric Dickerson. There were other All-Pros traded, just not the year after they were first team All-Pro.
  6. Hoping this is a fun game - going to be a massive test for the Bears on the road. Hopefully Monogai is back next week, although at this rate could easily see him out through the bye week.
  7. Jackson, Edwards, Sanborn and Loveland were full participants. Monongai is out.
  8. Screengrab from the socials. Interesting how similar the Bears and Seattle are.
  9. Saw this clip on the socials from Colin Cowherd. Does a good job on justifying Poles getting rid of two 1sts for Simmons. And goes on about how he is fundamentally better than Michah Parsons. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1cLYBWe2q9/?mibextid=wwXIfr
  10. It was just fan boy posts. Ill give Nelson his props tho, he is one of the best guards and I'd be ecstatic to have him if we had an opening.
  11. Yeah it’s about complimentary football anyhow. Like how he said if he’s doing a double team inside then one of the other guys should be able to feast (looking at you sweat). And if the QB feels constant pressure, then he can’t afford to stand around in the pocket all that much. Besides that, Nelson didn’t own him at all . I’d say it was closer to 50/50. I’ll reiterate I’m not a fan of DA but I do know he’s been around long enough to do what is needed to get the best out of players. He may not always do it but a lot of times he does. Just like how Gordon has recently become a factor and I hope he schemes to improve on either JJs effectiveness or push Muhammad to start.

  13. There are clips, of course they posted some. Can't win every play, but win more in the game and its all good
  14. Monangai still a non-participant in today’s practice. ☹️. And apparently Loveland showed up on the report with a non-specific neck injury. 🤔 https://www.bleachernation.com/bears/2026/10/30/colston-loveland-inj-rep/
  15. I posted that in this thread last night
  16. Was just watching a clip of him during his first press conference. One thing he said was (I’m paraphrasing) ‘I talked with Grady (Jarrett) and told him if I take the slot and open it up, you better get there. And to Montez, if Im on the end against a tackle, you have a free lane to a sack and better get it.’ Man that is awesome to hear from day one. This dudes a team player.
  17. I did some research, Simmons is the first All-Pro selection from the previous year (1st Team AP All-Pro) to be traded in season the following year since Eric Dickerson in 1987. Dickerson was in a contract dispute and was part of a massive trade that included multiple 1st and 2nd round picks. The last defensive player was Fred Dean in 1981 at the age of 29, two years later he had 17.5 sacks at the age of 31. He was already traded due to a contract dispute.
  18. 🎶Reunited and it feels so good…🎵
  19. Ha is there film of him doing that before? They’ve been meeting each other twice a year now for a few years right?
  20. Seemed logical considering the other numbers taken.
  21. Nope, Hawk fans are saying Nelson will neutralize him lol.
  22. lol. Believe me I’ve seen almost all of them. Love this stuff. Looking forward to seeing the old version of Sam Darnold on Monday .
  23. Depending on how you view the current roster, the Bears might only have one new starter in 2027, Jones at Center. Every other starter outside of Stevenson is under contract thru at least 2027. The SB window is now.
  24. Lucky, The Bears were one play away from the NFCC game. The NFC is wide open, so you have to jump on these opportunities. Every team could have the same 100 scenarios play out and all you can do is give yourself the best chance. That's what the Bears did here. You can't play the "if" game. Then you might as well not even play. If you only plan for the worst possible outcome, you would never trade a player or sign a free agent because they might get injured. No one is "hoping" for a perfect scenario. The Bears are one of 4 teams in the top 10 in offense and defense while their QB missed 3 games. This makes the defensive performance going forward way more sustainable. Simmons is the Bears 2027 1st rounder, and he is already playing on the team before even being drafted. He is signed thru 2030 on a very fair deal. Technically, the Bears can get out of the deal after 2027 with zero dead cap (because TEN paid the bonuses). So this provides maximum flexibility going forward. On the flip side if the Bears do end up getting into deeper playoff runs, the deal is even better for the Bears because 2x picks around 30 are basically the same as an early 2nd rounder. I am not worried about the offense. The Bears have a young core that is as good as any other in the NFL (Caleb, Loveland, Odunze, Burden, Monangai, Wright, Trapilo, and Jones). The other missing piece is that the Bears haven't even benefited from Bryant playing yet, and just got Turner back. Now the young DTs VDB and Loving get to learn from an absolute beast.

  26. does anyone here really believe we were ONE player away from being a dynasty?? some have asked if we win a superbowl whether that trade was good and we break our arms patting poles on the back. i am not one of them. i want to win multiple superbowls. that is the goal this franchise should always take. poles is in desperate mode right now. most of his draft picks are failures. his free agents have on the most part been failures. his job is on the line as he sees it. he is GOING FOR BROKE and taking us with him. this was not the time for a rebuilt team on the rise to do this. getting on with it, this was a very stupid move by a 2nd rate GM. why you ask.... immediate future: it's not even a given that we can even win our OWN division this year. so much for penciling in a SB win this year and amazingly next year also? a hundred different scenario's could occur that we don't even MAKE it to the NFC championship game let alone the freaking superbowl. everyone is assuming that we are picking at 31 or 32 for our 2027-2028 first round picks and that justifies it. what happens if an injury happens? didn't we learn anything when caleb went down? does anyone possibly believe if he would have been out for the season even with an all pro DT that we would have won a superbowl? we literally could have drafted in the top 10-15. we are HOPING for a perfect scenario where all of our players stay healthy and improve from what they are but you do NOT gamble your franchises future on this. what this means is that we have NO top pick for THREE YEARS. lets look at our defensive side of the ball first. we need not one, but two CB's. what we have is not even close to being average. i don't care how good your defensive line is if not one of your corners can cover it's a disaster in the making. we virtually have 2 DE's that are average on their best day. they not only can't get to the QB but they can't contain the ends on running plays or pressure the QB on scrambles. that's a top tier position that no way in hell we can trade for now or reasonably draft without first round picks. LB's... does anyone believe as a group they are even average? the best average one we have is constantly injured? so where does that leave us? that is three open positions (two at the least) that needs to be filled. DT's... other than this new pickup our DT's are basically pie in the sky. if our new acquisition gets injured do we even have an average DT on this team? S.. again, we have a great 'prospect' in the thin man. our other safety is coming off a serious injury. does he lose speed or end up like JJ? probably not but there is that possibility. i will concede that this position is solid with reservations. so at best, our defense is lacking at least 6-7 players that you will not get a chance to draft highly over the next 2 years. that means we are solid at 1-2 positions on our entire defense. that is not a superbowl winning combo in my book. offense... looks solid? it is at this point in time. but in our future we are going to need a LG and possibly a LT. ozzie has great potential but nothing involving him is set in stone. if we need a LT that is highly unlikely to happen without a first round pick. so that would negate/limit our QB advantage, our running game and possibly get our QB injured. so yea, i am not raking this player over the coals. i think he is a very good player and will help this franchise. but to what extent? we just gambled the next 5-10 years on this move. so yea, poles needs to be fired for even putting us into the position to have to give up this much for a single player at this point in time.
